Prayer in St. Benedict's monastic rule and interreligious dialogue

Diploma thesis "Prayer in St. Benedict's monastic rule and interreligious dialogue" is focused on the St. Benedict prayer presentation and its importance in the interreligious dialogue. The prayer should be considered as an essential parts of each Christian religious life. Christian life represented and described by St. Benedict, is the life of prayer. Benedict monastic rule has application, however, thanks to the generally applicable principles outside the monastery and should be suitable part of the spiritual experience of every Christian. The main goal of this thesis it to show the importance of real prayer and way of life in prayer for interreligious dialogue by Benedictine monks in the time of Bede Griffiths, Thomas Merton, John Main and Laurence Freeman, representing experience regarding interreligious dialogue with Hindu and Buddhist monks about the contemplation, prayer and different religious traditions. The Contemporary Form of the Bektashi Order in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia: Sources of Bektashi Spirituality

- anglicky The focus of this thesis is folk spirituality of the bektashi order. A field research trip in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia has been conducted to show the importance of the category of the Sacred. For this reason the first part of thesis deals with the category of the sacred and the category of spirituality, and contains application of the category of the Sacred on bektashiya. We use the model here proposed by Ninian Smart and Zdeněk Vojtíšek which allows for folk spirituality and individuality of spiritual experience be included within spirituality of subjective experience framework without putting a value on them or limiting them. We see them as part of a larger framework of spirituality where different dimensions can be determined, i.e. sacred presuppositions, rituals, experience, community, ethics, work of art and sacred stories. It is possible to feed human spirituality on different dimensions from various sources. During the field trip the conclusion has been reached that people who draw for their spirituality from bektashi tradition tend to choose certain aspects to include them in their personal spirituality as folk spirituality aspects. Comparison of Hans Kung and his work Global Ethics with the Civil Religion

This Diploma Thesis deals with two universalistic conceptions, represented by the Swiss Catholic Theologist Hans Küng and his work Global Ethics, and the Civil Religion. In the first part of my text, I bring in the personality of Hans Küng, his work, ideas and the book Global Ethics which received great acclaim on international forum, Churches and society. Küng draws up three basic theses: No world peace without peace among religions. No peace among religions without dialogue between the religions. No dialogue between the religions without accurate knowledge of one another. These theses express the need for a dialogue, being able to formulate viable visions of the future. In the second part of my work, I introduce a less known notion of the Civil Religion with its transformations and development throughout the history. It is a concept exceeding the border of sociology, political science, philosophy and theology, examining the formative processes of the society and its religious reference speech. It penetrates the academic discourse especially in the period between the 1960s and 1980s, as represented e.g. by the American sociologist Robert Bellah. Son of Mary in the basic sources of Islam

This thesis gives an overview of Jesus in the basic sources of Islam, the Qur'an and Sunnah. In a brief biography of Prophet Muhammad, it deals with the influence of Christians in his life. It follows the creation of the Qur'an and mentions some aspects of its doctrine. The thesis selects the Qur'anic verses about Christians and especially those which are related directly or indirectly to Jesus. It analyzes the meaning of the names, which the Qur'an assigns to Jesus. The selected Hadiths, in which some of the names of Jesus appear, are systematized into thematic areas. The thesis observe the role that this Islamic tradition assigns to him. It compares the differences between the view on Jesus in Islam and Christianity. It notes that there are different meanings in both religions under the same sounding names and titles of Jesus. The thesis brings reason why the image of Jesus in Islam is different. It shows whether the person of Jesus can be the object and starting point for interreligious dialogue. In conclusion, it offers the possibilities of inspiration for restoring Christian faith by Muslim Jesus.

The Principles of the Interfaith Dialog in Standpoint of Husite Theology

This thesis focuses on the concept of interreligious dialogue from the perspective of Husite theology, maps the contemporary texts of the theologians of the Czechoslovak Church on the topic of non- Christian religions and the practical involvement of this church and its theological faculty in dialogical structures. Represents associations and movements engaged in interreligious dialogue in the Czech Republic. The probe into the theory and practice of interreligious dialogue worldwide and the review of authors dealing with, captures the expert reflection of the subject. The reflection of Husite theology emphasizes the key non-substantial concept of human personality and Christian dogma for the interreligious dialogue. The results of this reflection are formulated in five principles that may help overcome the contradiction between indifferent religious pluralism and apriori claim to the truth by revealing the existential nature of interreligious dialogue as opposed to substantive dogmatics, giving an occasion for discussion of the elementary nature of religion.

The position of the Roman Catholic Church to Islamic extremism

The position of the Roman Catholic Church to Islamic extremism Abstract The present thesis deals with the attitude of the Pope, those spiritual state performing the function in individual institutions of the Holy See, theologians and a selected group of people from the Czech general public Roman Catholic Church to religious extremism, focusing on the ultimate form of extremism - terrorism - of individuals or groups espousing to Islam. Since religious extremism often associated with fundamentalism, radicalism and fanaticism, is the first chapter to analyze the basic characteristics of these concepts, with the emphasis on analyzing the meaning and essence of their grasp. A comparison of them found what they have in common and what they are different. Following the above leads to analysis of how extremism reflect the religious and intellectual personalities of islam, with attached description and comparison of the attitudes of these figures, and militant-minded muslims to the jihad by the sword "al-džihád bi̕ s-sajf". In connection with this armed form of jihad work briefly compares the concept of martyrdom in islam and the roman catholic church and the result in the summary analyses. Christology of Hans Küng

Hans Küng (b. 1928) is a Swiss theologian and a Roman Catholic priest who in the second half of the twentieth century introduced a characteristic and very critical interpretation of Roman Catholic theology. The aim of this work is to concentrate on one part of Küng's theological thinking only, that is his christology. Specifically, the focus is on the reflection and criticism from the perspective of the historical-critical method and Jewish theology.
