Design of an Information System Part
Koch, Michael ; Novák, Lukáš (referee) ; Neuwirth, Bernard (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is solving design and realization of new an individual part of a information system for already existing ZEFIS company which uses questionnaires to find out information about the shortcomings of information systems in companies.. The proposed change focuses primarily on 2 mains problems. The first is the inability to search for answers from questionnaires according to different answers. The second concerns the creation of a module which, on the basis of a metalanguage, the shortcomings of the company will be described, could evaluate on the basis of these rules whether these shortcomings occur in the company or not. The work includes an analysis of the existing system - the method of data storage, data models, etc. and the subsequent processing of the proposed changes.

Masopustová, Lucie ; Gráf, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šaldová, Pavlína (referee)
(in English) The thesis deals with the topic of the role of metalanguage and metalinguistic terminology in English Language Teaching at Czech grammar schools. The concepts of metalanguage and metalinguistic terminology are viewed as one of the potential educational tools in the field of learning and teaching English grammar. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses, among other things, on benefits and limitations of the use of metalanguage, and on the suitability of conditions for the use of metalanguage, i.e. on the variables which may affect the educational process are discussed in this part as well. Moreover, an overview of the approaches to teaching grammar in relation to the use of metalanguage and metalinguistic terminology is provided in this chapter together with the summary of findings obtained from the studies concerned with learners or teachers knowledge of metalinguistic terminology. The empirical part is based on the questionnaire survey among Czech grammar school students and teachers. The main areas examined in the research are: learners' and teachers' attitudes to and beliefs about learning and teaching English and English grammar, learners' and teachers' attitudes to metalinguistic terminology as well as learners' knowledge of the terminology and teachers' awareness of the...
Theoretical tools for categorization and functional explanations of relations in language
Křivan, Jan ; Elšík, Viktor (advisor) ; Stekauer, Pavel (referee) ; Skarabela, Barbora (referee)
1 Abstract The dissertation Theoretical tools for categorization and functional explanations of relations in language is focused on linguistic categorization from the perspective of empirical gram- matical research. The primary aim is to present the theoretical and practical potential for the investigation of grammatical categories, stressing functional explanations of why cer- tain language structures are the way they are. The text is divided into two parts. (i) The first two chapters are devoted to the theoretical and methodological foundations of empirical linguistic research (including issues of metalanguage, language comparison, discreteness and gradience). Particular emphasis is placed on functional-evolutionary approaches, which describe grammar in interconnection with language use, and more specifically on func- tional explanations by means of frequency. (ii) In the following three chapters, the potential of corpus-based research is demonstrated in accordance with the principles adopted in (i). It is applied to the linguistic categories of possession and adjective comparison in Czech. Possession in Czech is described with regard to hypotheses based on statistical tendencies in language use. The main results of the research revealed the relationship between frequency of use and the animacy hierarchy,...

Hypostasis, Conversion, Categoriality
Židek, Jan ; Bičovský, Jan (advisor) ; Starý, Zdeněk (referee)
In modern linguistics since the 1970s, there seems to be a general shift from langue to parole and from discrete categories to more "blurry" ones. With it comes a need for revitalisation of some older terms that fell out of usage because of the fact that they describe something (seemingly) outside system. One such term is hypostasis, a synchronic phenomenon of word- formation under certain constrains (e.g. null derivation from an inflected form). This work's aim is to probe its usefulness in modern linguistics and the viability of its revitalisation. In this work, I agree with now generally accepted idea that every grammatical system is in itself inadequate with regard to completeness of its function, and that it needs from time to time adapt to new situational contexts through compensation strategies; some of the ways it does that can collectively be called "hypostasis".
Grammar Terminology of the Contemporary Textbooks and Methods of FLE
VOJTOVÁ, Andrea
This thesis observes grammatical terminology which can be found in the contemporary textbooks of the French language which have been published in the Czech Republic and France. Primarily, it deals with the question of word classes and their interpretation in the analyzed books. It works with the terminology (French and Czech) of the word classes. The crucial theme of this work is metalanguage used not only in the explications of the particular items of grammar but also in the tasks for the grammar exercises. The aim of this work is to find out a certain extent the textbooks use the linguistic terminology to. It also tries to discover whether they use national grammatical tradition. Last but not least it tries to learn whether the textbooks include the complete list of word classes.
