How is the Traditional Canadian Value of Volunteering Surviving?
TROUP, Pavel
The aim of this thesis is to test and consequently disprove or confirm the hypothesis that with the large influx of immigrants to Canada, volunteerism might not be able to survive in its present form. In the theoretical part of the work focus has been set on term definition and volunteering classification because it is a structured activity with its own rules and policy. History of volunteering has been described in the following chapter. This part goes beyond the history of volunteering in Canada since it is a deeply rooted Anglo-Saxon tradition which had been brought there by the British and French. The last chapter has been dedicated to the current situation of volunteering in Canada including a profile of a volunteer and possible current threats. The practical part has been based on a survey conducted among York University community members and an analysis of their answers. This survey became, together with my visit to the 2011 Toronto Volunteer Fair and an in-depth interview, the main source for the comparison of practice and theory.

The labor of teacher´s assistant in actual conditions on primary schools from the point of view of the branch Education Technology
KLABOUCHOVÁ, Denisa
In my opinion, a pupil from a minority represents in our society an upto- date subject. In contemporary school, it is common that not all the children have the same nationality in one classroom. Prior experience, especially with Romany children, is getting extended in contemporary society, since the opening of the borders of the Czech Republic many ethnic groups have come to our territory. These various populations represent also influx of children for whom the school attendance is obligatory and so they attend Czech schools. The fact that a pupil different physically but also by his language, ability of understanding the Czech language, cultural traditions, religion and conviction or his family rear appears in a majority classroom, has an important impact on the work of the teacher. Teacher has to confront heavy tax. School should be a place where we acquire the rules and values of the society and teacher should be that person who pays attention on respecting of these rules and values. Teacher should help his students to understand and to accept their ``strange{\crqq} schoolmate and all his ethnic group, and he should show clearly by his behavior to all pupils that racism and discrimination aren{\crq}t possible in our multicultural society.

BUCHALOVÁ, Renata
AnnotationIllegible foreigners (minorities as viewed by south Bohemian daily newspapers) The thesis called "Illegible foreigners" deals with the way Českobudějovické listy (renamed Českobudějovický deník in October 2006) presents minorities living in the Czech Republic. The thesis focuses on Romanies, the most frequently mentioned minority in this south Bohemia daily. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part outlines important theoretical concepts that should explain the current situation of minorities as presented in the south Bohemia daily. The main indicator of the relationship between the media, minorities and the majority society are stereotypes, which can be positive or negative. The thesis lists the main stereotypical attributes ascribed to minorities by the media and discusses the degree of objectivity in articles that mention minorities. The second part of the thesis uses specific articles on minorities published from 1 January 2004 to 31 July 2006 in the south Bohemia daily to document whether minorities are depicted in a negative or positive way and whether the articles (journalists) are objective.

KUBINEC, Patrik
The main aim of this bachelor´s work is to summarize the Czech Republic Police approaches towards minority groups with laying the special emphasis on individuals in the practise and to analyse a mutual interaction and to propose some recommendations how to practically improve a police communication towards minorities. In the theory part there is characterization of influences which influence policemen on their duties during their negotiations with representatives of the Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Slovak and Romany minorities. I evaluate the police interaction as incorrect. I have determined hypothesis which aimed to that evaluation. I checked the truth of given hypothesis among policemen in the city of Prague. I used question forms for the collecting of dates and I worked up the results mathematically and statistically. It was found from the research that more than a half from forty - nine respondents have no orientation or have only a little orientation through minority problems.
Internal and external factors of the kosova crisis
Svatek, Lukáš ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Prorok, Vladimír (referee)
The thesis deals with the factors of the Kosovo crisis, which had and in some cases still have a strong influence on its origin and development. The first part of the thesis offers an insight into basic historical events, which may represent the root of the problem. Furthermore, it explains the escalation of violence in the 80s, which led to an armed conflict including the engagement of international participants. The sources of the persisting tense security situation and factors leading to the unilateral declaration of independence are analyzed in the next part. The themes of the last part are the sources of the lasting division of society. The aim of the thesis is to prove that the Kosovo crisis has been influenced by many factors, both internal and external, and simultaneously to explain this influence.
Comparison of attitudes of Germany to a minority issue (by way of the examples of Turks in Germany and German minority in Upper Silesia)
Hanuš, Tomáš ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Veselý, Zdeněk (referee)
Since 1950s when the first influx of cheap labour force appeared the social situation changed rapidly. The original labour force managed to get over the denial of the majority society and administrative obstacles and turned into a permanent part, but not part and parcel of the German society. The German government trying to support economic growth decided to use foreign labour force as a less dangerous option for the future. The second option was to allow the admission of foreign capital investments. However, the project which should have been controlled by the migration policy and should enable the foreign workers to satisfy the demand of the German labour market has not met the expectations.
