Risk factors of upper limb injuries and the relationship between general physical characteristics and punch force in martial arts
Sidunov, Matěj ; Pádecký, Jan (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Risk factors of upper limb injuries and relationship between general physical characteristcs and punch force in martial arts. Objectives: The master thesis has two objectives. First, to find out the possible performance and morphological predictors of upper limb fractures in martial arts participants. Second to find out the performance and morphological predictors and their magnitude of punching force. Methods: In our thesis we used a logistic regression to find out the strength of the predictors of upper limb fracture. On the retrospective history of fractures, the participants were asked, if they have had any upper limb fracture. Furthermore, Pearson's correlation coefficient and linear regression were used for the strength of the predictors of punching forces. Results: We found out, that none of the predictors of upper limb fractures were signiciant. Furthermore, the overall model was not significant as well (p = 0.064, R2 McF = 0.199). Linear regression for the prediction of punching forces was statistically significant (p <0.001, R2 = 0.672). The strongest predictors were handgrip strength and peak concentric fore during a push-up jump (both p <0.05). Keywords: martial arts, mixed martial arts, injury, punching

Sochor, Jakub ; Zdobinský, Adam (advisor) ; Pavelka, Radim (referee)
Title: Mapping the occurrence of teaching martial arts in physical education at primary schools, secondary schools and grammar schools in Prague. Objective: The goal of the research is to find out how education in P.E. classes reflects the recommendation of framework education programme about education of martial arts, what percentage of clasśes do martial arts take in P.E. and to describe current trends of implementing martial arts to the curriculum or discover the reasons behind not implementing from the P.E. teacher's perspective. Methods: Analysis of literature of the given topic. We chose a survey as a research instrument. Based on previously published survey, which asked about the education of martial arts at a smaller selection of schools in Moravian region (Reguli, Ďurech, Vít, 2007), we created a purposeful survey. The survey was made on a platform service survio.com and distributed via e-mail to individual headmasters. They passed on the survey to P.E. teachers Results: Based on the evaluation of the survey, it was found that 75 of 84 teachers involve combat activities in P.E. classes. Of all of the questioned, 48 respondents were men and 34 women. Most of our respondents were between 31-40 years old. Most respondents teach only at E.P.A., 48 in total. Falling techniques are included by...
