Use of Design Thinking approach: Study from students’ point of view

The aim of this thesis is to define key issues that students encounter during their studies of the bachelor degree of Business administration in the University of Economics in Prague using the approach of Design Thinking. The theoretical part focuses on describing the innovation management method called Design Thinking, its principles, methods and tools. It also summarizes the current findings we have about so-called generation Y. The research uses the first two stages of the process of Design Thinking called "discover" and "define". The first phase included a workshop with 4-5 students in which the potential problematic areas were defined using innovation games such as Speed boat, Five whys and Brainwriting. The workshop was repeated 3 times and was followed by second phase in which 190 students filled in a questionnaire that was designed to verify the findings of the first phase. The outcome of the thesis is definition of areas in which the faculty could potentially grow from students' perspective as well as creation of Faculty of Business Administration student's persona.
An innovation audit as a tool of improvement of innovation efficiency of organization

The ability of an organization to innovate, creates one of the most sufficient standards to keep the competitive position and ensure further growth. There exists a well-founded assumption that small and middle sized companies do not pay enough attention to innovation management. The thesis investigates a process called an innovation audit - it is a tool used for evaluation of innovation management and its current state in a company called Memsource a.s. The goal of the thesis is by using innovation audit to identify strengths and weaknesses of all spheres that affect innovations and also suggest efficient improvements in all areas related to innovative management in Memsource a.s. The results of a process of the innovation audit provides us with a whole scheme of a truthful and profound situation concerning innovation management of the company. The suggestions were made in order to enhance innovation efficiency of the company.

The main topic of this thesis is IT innovation management which is very up to date theme as a research within the thesis documents. IT innovation should be managed jointly with the IT Governance to support effectiveness of IT and competitiveness of the whole company.
Support of innovation projects with use of financial instruments of the EU

Innovations are one of the crucial pillars of the strategy Europe 2020. This strategy defines the economic and social orientation of the EU for the upcoming decade. Innovations are one of many instruments through which companies (and EU and its member countries as well) can enhance their competitiveness. It is the matter of highest concern of firms, individual countries and the whole EU that they sustain themselves competitive. Bearing these facts in mind, author of this thesis deals with a question of sustainability of competitiveness. Is it possible for a company to gain a long-term competitive advantage through innovative projects? On an example of three companies, author compares approach towards management of the whole innovation process and the contributive effect of the innovative projects on companies' competitiveness. From the results of the implemented multi-criterial analysis, author deduces a conclusion - sustainable competitiveness can be achieved only through an endless innovating.
