Ways of Self-identification of Zlín Residents with the City Space

This bachelor's thesis primarily focuses on the exploration of different ways of self- identification of the inhabitants of the urban space of Zlín. The author chooses the case study method for this purpose. The author further understands the city as a constructed unit, which, however, has its own individual parts, particularities that can be separated from each other to a certain extent. Meanings are assigned to the city and its space by its inhabitants in manifest and latent ways. In this work, however, residents are not viewed as exclusively active actors who would (re)shape the space in which they live. Even the urban space itself is understood as formative and then in its self-reproductive role. Residents' identities are conceptualized as fluid and heterogeneous. The aim of this work is to answer the question of whether there is a difference in the forms of self-identification depending on the generation in which the research partner is placed. Self-identification is conceptualized as an ongoing process dependent on both internal and external factors. Even in connection with such an understanding of self-identification, the space is necessarily marked as changeable since it is also influenced and de facto shaped by the people within it.

Park Na Solidarite - public space design and its influence on life in neighborhood

The bachelor thesis is dedicated to the influence of city environment on the social life of its inhabitants with regards to the design of space. I am pointing to the influence of type of development of the city space and appearance of public ground on forming neighbor relationships among inhabitants. In the thesis, I am focusing on public space in unique city locality of housing development Solidarita. This housing project, which has been designed as a space, which shall support community relationships, does not work according to the ideas of its designers. One of the last public areas in the housing development Solidarita is the Park Na Solidarite, which does not comply with its function. I am suggesting possible reasons why it is so and I inquire into how local inhabitants perceive the space. KEY WORDS Sociology of architecture, social relations, urban space, public space

The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to execute a study of chosen public urban spaces in municipal part of Prague called Žižkov. First part of the thesis is theoretical, where the term public urban space, different approaches to the term and issue of person in public space are defined. Furthemore in this part are indicated referential examples, which shows different executions of similar public spaces in the Czech republic and the World. The second part, analytical part deals with characteristics od municipal part Žižkov in the begining. Subsequently it closely analyses each of the chosen urban squares, which are Komenskeho square, Prokopovo square and Kostnicke square. Those analyses of each square are followed by design study, that doesn't deal only with the single square, but with connections and relations of all three places as whole.

Regenerace městských prostorů - historická část Brna

This thesis deals with the regeneration of urban spaces specifically, the historic part of the city of Brno. Urban spaces have been subjected to changes since ancient times. These changes can often be associated with significant political, socioeconomic and cultural events, but also natural disasters, which can irreversibly transform them as well. The necessity for the regeneration of urban spaces is driven by the recognition of a need to alter or reintroduce the functions of these spaces which have characterized the space in the past. The loss could be caused by one or more of the events mentioned above. In the theoretical part of this thesis, changes of some Czech as well as foreign landscape realizations were evaluated, which require transformation because of their loss of previous function or attractiveness. The forms that can help us to implement these changes have been described in this section. In the section on design, knowledge building on the theoretical background, mainly based on the realizations in public spaces, is applied. An integral part of high quality, in depth analysis is based on detailed analysis of historical development. Analysis as such is used as a basis on which a chosen spot was installed with a new form of almost extinct genius loci. At first, we must always solve the problems in order to better perceive the functional and operational changes that need to be done.

Culture policy of Prague 7: how to create a modern neighbourhood

The submitted thesis analyses cultural politics of Prague 7 municipal district, based on a pilot strategical project of culture planning Art District 7 starting in 2016. The study conducts Charles Landry's concept of Creative Cities and its application in the Czech cities; critically evolve Richard Florida's theory about Creative Classes; and understanding of authenticity by Sharon Zukin. The research methodology uncovers, by comparative analysis, implementation of the project Art District 7 in reality and differences of cultural practices of municipality and the actors themselves. Each chapter of the analytical part is a category of critical viewpoint to cultural politics at Prague 7 district. Transformation of cultural actor's politics (a theater, a hall, a cafe) within 2 years long research at Dolní Holešovice is clearly characterized in individual parts named Community, Space and ART. The chapter Community follows gradual change of cultural actor's relationships towards local inhabitants of the Dolní Holešovice district and presents actor's understanding of themselves as a distinct community. Strešná záhrada ako progresívna forma mestského verejného priestoru

This thesis deals with a roof garden as an element that shapes an urban public space. The roof garden provides a unique space in ecosystem of the city and offers new forms and advantages as compared to existing roof structures. Theoretical part of this thesis discusses the development of roof gardens and defines their role in cities. It offers unique and innovative examples of the use of roof gardens in the world as well as in Czech Republic. The design study presents a roof garden on top of a new multifunctional building on St. Anna's Square in Trenčín. Roof garden at the level of parterre connects with the entire square and the entire ecosystem of the city.

The aim of this bachelor work is to clarify problems of the park square, primarily focusing on its components and functions used for its right working in the city area. Demands of inhabitants of the given city and potential visitors are also taken into consideration. The essence of this work is to evaluate aspects served as the right creation of the park square. Subject matter of this thesis is the Dukla Heroes Square in Pardubice that is according to analyses, literature and my own suggestion remade like the park square. The result of this bachelor work is research with the topic Regeneration of the Park Square and separate architectural suggestion of the selected area.

This work of an urban space design, more precisely Peter Matejka park design, is engaged in solution and proposal of a model territory in form of a landscape- architectural study. Peter Matejka Park in Nové Mesto nad Váhom was chosen for the design of urban space. The area is located below preserved city fortifications with the relationship to the original buildings of the city and new city buildings. Within the text part of the work similar urban space designs of other countries and Slovakia have been described with the history and urban development of Nové Mesto nad Váhom with its natural conditions. Before creating the draft they were analysis made according to the current state of the area, which were later summarized and evaluated. The results serve as a basis for the design of urban space. The thesis finishes with a landscape-architectural design that is described in the text and pictured in the appendices. The aim of this work was to create a design of urban space that is functional and aesthetically valuable and meets the requirements of the population and the environment.

This bachelor thesis deals with a design of urban space and its related issues. As a model territory for the design was selected forecourt of Medicentrum in Beroun. The theoretical part is devoted to the characteristics of the urban public space and to the examples of public spaces from abroad - each of them in some way related to the selected model area. Subsequently was elaborated the historical and urban development of Beroun and of the actual model territory, contemporary tendencies of the city and its natural characteristics. In the next part of this study which is based on field surveys and analyses were elaborated the main analyses which are a reflection of the current state of the model area with its pros and cons. Based on the evaluation of these analyses was drafted the design in the form of a garden architectural studies, which together with the analyses are graphically elaborated and discussed in the text part of this bachelor thesis. The final proposal is based on the overall character of the chosen place, fulfils operational, functional and aesthetic requirements of the public urban spaces and respects the demands and wishes of the public.
