Štičková, Zuzana ; Muchová, Renáta (advisor) ; Táborská, Silvie (referee)
Title of thesis The Use of McKenzie Approach in the Therapy of Low Back Pain. Abstract: The present thesis addresses the issue of treatment of low back pain and in this respect considers the effectiveness of the McKenzie method. The first sections of the theoretical part of this thesis are focused on the kinesiology and pathology of the components of the lumbar spine. Further sections explain the principles of the mechanical diagnosis and therapy, i.e. the McKenzie method. Their focus is to present the specific features and advantages of this approach. The aim of the practical part is to assess the effectiveness of the McKenzie method in patients with chronic low back pain whose previous treatment had no or only a short term effect. Qualitative research based on three case studies has been chosen to achieve this aim. By assessing and comparing both subjective parameters (e.g. the intensity, distribution and frequency of pain) and objective parameters (e.g. the range of motion, neurological symptoms) before and after the treatment by the McKenzie method, its effectiveness for the use in therapy of chronic low back pain was determined. The results testify in favour of the McKenzie method as a convenient approach in treating patients with this diagnosis. Key words: McKenzie, mechanical diagnosis and therapy,...
Physiotherapy for patients with low back pain in the lumbar spine with the present use of unstable surfaces
ŘEZÁČOVÁ, Lucie
This bacheolor thesis deals with the physiotherapy in patients with low back pain in the lumbar spine with the present use of unstable surfaces. Low back pain, or low back pain syndrome is mark for pains in different parts of spine. These dificulties are very common reason for doctor´s visits and also one of the most common causes of incapacity or work. The number of these patients is still rising and most serious is, that these problems affect more and more the younger generation too. Back pain is so common, because they have many causes. Among one of them we can include way of today´s life, change of lifestyle and we can say that a certain comfort of the population. The aim of the theoretical part of this thesis was to describe the low back pains, their causes, examination and therapy, including several options for physiotherapy of low back pains, which is also include the use of unstable surfaces. The aim of the practical part of this thesis was to map effect of exercises using unstable surfaces for specific patients with low back pain in the lumbar spine, which was achieved through the use of qualitive research, using four case reports, which consisted of four patients with low back pain in the lumbar spine. For each of them was performed eight therapies in which were used the unstable surfaces. The results have been assessed according to the input and output kinesiology analysis. In some patients, there were irregularities or ommisions of exercise, or inappropriate ergonomics activities and this has also been affected by pain, which drew less than in patients who practiced regularly and tried to follow the ergonomics of work. Therefore, you can say with certainty, that if you experience regular exercise, to improve the health status of the patient's improvement of including their mental state, thanks to the disappearance of pain and related restrictions in carrying out certain activities.
Physiotherapy procedures using SMsystem for handball players with low back pain
PÝCHOVÁ, Andrea
This work is focused on low back pain of active handball players and possibility to influence these problems by using SM system (spiral stabilization of backbone). Low back pain of handball players originate mostly as a consequence of overstraining a certain muscular parts. Another cause of backache of handball players can be a varying intensity of strain, an injury, or an incorrect coordination of the move. In the first chapter of theoretical part of this work, low back pain are defined. The next chapter describes basic rules of handball with a focus on a big influence of psyche on the performance of induvidual handball players. Then, the principles of practising SM system and it's realization are presented, whose founder is MUDr. Richard Smíšek. The main aim of this work was to present possibilities of SM system in physiotherapy of handball players and then to describe the effect of physiotherapy after using SM system in case of individual active handball players with low back pain. This work was composed according to a high-quality research. The collection of data was realized as an interview with gaining an anamnesis of three probands, who play handball actively. Then, a complex opening and final kineziologic analysis and observation was made. In practise, the work deals with an application of conrete physiotherapeutic techniques and following observation of it's effects. Probands were also asked to fill in an agreement of being informed. This work can be used as a source of information for lay or specialized public, likewise for present and future physiotherapists who are interrested in this problem. Moreover, this work can serve as a base for another and more detailed treatment of this topic.

Possibilities of physiotherapy for low back pain with a focus on Foot reflexology at the working age population
FIŠEROVÁ, Iva
This thesis is focused on the possibilities of physiotherapy for low back pain with a focus on Foot reflexology at the working age population. Low back pain afflicts a large percentage of the population, and its prevalence is highest among people of working age. The situation does not help the current lifestyle including poor eating habits and lack of physical activity. According to statistics they are one of the most common causes of inability to work. There are many causes of back pain and a lot of physiotherapy approaches to dealing with them. Correct and early diagnosis of the problems is very important in this topic. The theoretical part summarizes the basic anatomy and kinesiology findings concerning the lumbar spine and legs. Furthermore, there is generally analyzed pain, then with a focus on the lower back. I refer, besides other things, the possible causes of low back pain and economic burden to the healthcare system. Subsequently the branches of physiotherapy, who deal with the given problem, are described. At the end of the theoretical part I devote to Foot reflexology, which was examined in the practical part. This method fall into an alternative medicine. It takes advantage of the finding that the feet are covered with reflective areas corresponding with the organs or the other body parts. Their stimulation can affect relevant areas including their function. This thesis had two objectives. The first one was to map the possibilities of influencing low back pain using the Foot reflexology for selected probands. The second one was to explore whether the Foot refexology will have an impact on the quantity of used analgesics. The method of qualitative research was chosen for the practical part. Four respondents were selected from the public who meet the specified requirements (person of working age suffering from pain in the lower back and taking analgesics). Their history was collected. Then the entry kinesiology analysis and diagnostics of the feet was made. The visual analog pain scale was used to determine the extent of pain of reflective areas. The therapy took place once a week for a three months. At the last meeting held evaluate of the therapy from the perspective of the respondent and final kinesiology analysis was done. The gained input and output data were compared. The research results were published in the form of four case studies. They indicate that the improvement of condition occurred at three respondents. At one of them, the pain in the lower back almost disappeared, at other two o them the pain stop radiate into the legs. It was achieved a reduction of the number of used analgesics at these mentioned respondents. At the fourth respondent stormy reactions were appeared, which distorted the final effect of therapy on the back pain. It was apparently affected the hormonal system of the woman. It was not even possible to determine whether rehabilitation had an impact on the use of analgesics, because the respondent was forced to take the analgesics during therapy. From the information above it is possible to conclude that the Foot reflexology can have a positive impact on influencing low back pain. It is not high demand for this purpose in practice. In my opinion, it should be more incorporated into the patient care, at least as a complementary therapy in the context of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan. This thesis can serve as material for students and the general public who are interested in this topic. The work may serve as a basis for the follow-up research in this subject area.
