Pre-school library in kindergarten: action research

This thesis is based on the need to lead children to read at an early age. International research (PIRLS, PISA) shows, that the children's library in kindergarten has an inherently positive impact on the development of reading literacy. The aim of this thesis is to map the equipment of the children's library in the Elíšek kindergarten and to find out for what activities children use the books for. How teachers use them in their work and, also to map the children's home backround and if parents leads children read in their families. The aim of the action research is to improve the work with the book in the kindergarten, to involve in directional activities and build a new reading corner with selected books for children, various secondary activities and equipment. Media response to the Czech award-winning Literature for Children and Youth (2016)

This Bachelor Thesis is focused on analysis of media response to award-winning and award nominated literature for children and youth in 2016. Beside that it provides brief development of trends in publisher's acitivities since 90s to the present. It also describes problems of critical reflection in the area of literature for children and youth. Thesis studies media response to four books for children and youth, Vynálezárium by Robin Král, Klárka a 11 babiček by Olga Černá, Samota není zlej by Lucie Raškovová and Plop! Zdařilé verse a prózy by Ivan Wernisch. The opening part of this thesis determines the goal of this thesis, which is to answer the question how the media cover award-winning and award-nominated books for children and youth. It also determines hypothesis that literary awards Magnesia Litera Award and Golden Ribbon Award affect publicizing of these books. Analytic part then confirms this hypothesis. The book that won both Magnesia Litera and Golden Ribbon was covered the most. There were several media chosen for analysis, there are Česká televise, Český rozhlas, Mladá fronta DNES and news portal idnes.cz, website iliteratura.cz, citarny.cz. The current prizes of books for children and youth in 2007-2011 and itś reflection in the press (golden ribbon, magnesia litera)

This Bachelor Thesis is focused on the Czech awards for literature for children and youth, especially the Magnesia Litera Award and Golden Ribbon Award. Theses literary awards for children and youth will be analyzed in the period of last five years, between years 2007 and 2011. This work aims to introduce the awards and organizations that give awards, e.g. Litera associations and international organizations IBBY including the Czech IBBY section, and there will be mentioned their literary prizes. Also this thesis aims to become familiar with selected media, dealing with the Magnesia Litera and the Golden Ribbon reviews, analyzing these reviews and comparing different media whether they are dedicated to selected literary prize for children and youth to such an extent that they deserve. In this Bachelor Thesis will be dealt with reviews that review those books which in recent years won the Magnesia Litera award, the Golden Ribbon or both awards. In the final analytical part this Bachelor Thesis will deal with the media reviews, compare and determine whether the reviewers has the same or different opinion on the winning children's books.
