The drama "Yoshitsune and the thousand cherry trees." Minamoto No Yoshitsune as a martial strategist, courtier and literary myth.

In her doctoral thesis the author would like to present the play Yoshitsune and the Thousand Cherry trees (Yoshitsune senbonzakura) as a unique piece of Japanese drama which has a great complexity and an outstanding place within the corpus of Japanese literature. Even if the play can be compared to Chushingura mono in its importance, Yoshitsune senbonzakura has not been widely translated to western languages. There are two exceptions, however: the English translation (Jones, Jr. 1993) and the German translation (Klopfenstein 1982). While comparing the two translations and using the most full original texts available (as preserved in Takeda Izumo and Namiki Sosuke Joruri Collection and Yuda Yoshio's Bunraku Joruri Collection), the author's goal is to present the play to Czech readers and its interpretation to Czech scholars. As for the flow and structure of the interpretation of Yoshitsune senbonzakura the author begins with the historical background of the legend of Minamoto Yoshitsune, capturing the life of Yoshitsune from the time of Heiji rebellion (1159) when he was born to his death in 1189. Latin Hagiography of Early Middle-Ages as a Source for Christianisation of the Central Europe

of the paper The goal of the submitted work is to compare extensively the first hagiographical concerning the process of Christianization in the Central Europe. By paralleling these texts across the national rounds and comparing their image with the current state of the historical research the author tries to understand the role of legend in the Christianization and in particular their possible use as a source for this period. The hagiographical image of paganism, the baptism of the state units, of the ruler and the usual way of the institutional spread of the faith with regard to the image of the lower social classes in the process are all examined in the thesis. Further, attention is paid to the coherence of the Central-European area observable in the typology and the content of examined hagiography.
The Legend of Saint Procopius

The thesis examines the legend of Saint Procopius. At the beginning there is the description of the life of Saint Procopius and introduces genre legends. The introductory chapters will contain chapter of Sázava's monastýry founded by Saint Procopius and the last chapter of the theoretical part will be devoted to visual processing Prokop´s legend in Liber depictus. This is followed by a comparison and analysis of Prokop legends from the Middle Age to the present. The starting point is the five basic texts, which are Vita minor, Legenda Aurea by the Italian Dominican Jacobus de Voragine, which is written around 1260, traditional Czech verse processing of Prokop legends from the reign of Charles IV., Prokop legend by Jaroslav Vrchlický from 19th century and the final text is compared About Saint Prokop with legend published by M. Drahovzal, which is a part of folk culture. This comparison is supplemented with a chapter called Saint in the Baroque period. Each processing precedes the introductory part, which is either introduced the time in which the legend was created, or contains a brief description of the author, who wrote the legend.
Symbols in the European cartographic work with topographic content

This diploma thesis deals with the exploration and comparison of symbol keys used for official maps of European countries. The theoretical part deals mainly with legends and cartographic symbols as a key element of the thesis. Then an assessment of available symbol systems and comparison of map symbols used in symbol systems for the official map of the Czech Republic is made. In the conclusion there is drawn proposal for symbol system applicable to maps of all European countries.
Analysis of the keys to the maps of thematic atlases

This diploma thesis is occupied with analysis of the keys to the maps of Landscape Atlas of the Czech Republic and the Landscape Atlas of the Slovak Republic with emphasis on their mutual comparison. This thesis based on the published general theoretical principles of cartographic production. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter that engages in the key in detail, its types, procedures, etc. Then come critical analysis and classification keys to the maps of Landscape Atlas of the CR and subsequent comparison with Landscape Atlas of the SR using objective cartographic criteria. There is observed mainly the overall clarity, completeness, graphical representation and last but not least the overall look of the keys.
Literary Work of B. Bridel and his Point of View to Baroque Gothic

This Bachelor thesis is an analysis of Fridrich Briedel{\crq}s legend Život svatého Ivana, from a baroque gothique perspective. This essay will look to define baroque gothique with respect to the historical events of that time and the creation of legends up to their publication as books. The popularity of Czech and foreign saints who emigrated and settled in our country, and the indiference shown to other foreign saints who had not been accepted and live only as foreign saints in the memory of Czech people, will also be a topic of discussion here. This paper will also discuss the term, baroque gothique, in art and architecture with a focus on the most prominent architect, Jan Blažej Sntinim-Aichel, whose work was recognized and acclaimed worldwide, especially the building reconstruction in the highlands, and which eventually led to the phrase.
The childhood and youth of St. Václav and St. Vojtěch in the Czech Legends

This bachelor thesis deals with the childhood and youth of Saint Wenceslaus and Saint Adalbert (Vojtech) in Czech legends. It also describes their perception in Old Church Slavonic and Latin hagiography. The thesis observes the continuity as well as diversity of motives in the individual works. It also shows historic times in which the two saints lived, their destiny and deeds and focuses on their adolescence and relevant dating. The whole thesis continuously confronts the legends with the pieces of knowledge of literary historians and anthropologists with the aim to confirm or disprove the truth of Saint Wenceslaus and Saint Vojtech hagiography.
Folk customs of South Bohemia: Have they a chance to survive in new millennium?

The work deals with folk customs of South Bohemia, if they have a chance to survive in new millenium. At the beginning I define the origin of folk customs, then I give an overview of religious and secular feasts and defference between custom, saying and superstition. The main part includes the description of specific feast days. Usually there is an explanation of the feast day origin, possible modification, which happenned during ages and what they look like today. Then the thesis brings customs description, which refer to this feast day. The feast days are ordered according to flow of the year from beginning of the year until the end. The aim is to find out, which reasons lead to the fact, folk customs slowly die out and options, ho to prevent it.
The Linguistic Characteristics of a Baroque Legend

Main topic of this work is to analyze language elements used in the legend from baroque period and that from the complete conception on the gross information contents this work and characteristic features of phonetics and morfology. No research in the field of syntax and lexicology was made at this point (our final work would be to extensive). The complete interpretation refers to father Jiří David´s baroque legend Medicus Hercinius, {\dots} dated 1713. First part we apply to common informations about the author, about the period, in which he lived and wrote his legend, and about his contemporaries. We describe the legendistic literature and conditions to her expansibility in our country, the life of saint Gunther then and the substance of whole David´s work in general. There are important informations about noted humanismus and baroque authors in next two chapters. We describe individual phenomens of two language levels phonetics and morfology then, especially with regard to theory and practice. Principal aim of my work is to contribute to o deeper understanding of Czech language from the late baroque.
The Personality of Countess Ludmila and Countess Drahomíra in Czech Literature

The Bachelor{\crq}s work deals with picture of St. Ludmila and Drahomíra. About how they are perceived in the ancient works of chroniclers during the development of our literature. We are talking notice of sequences, but also differences in the individual parts. The part of the work is familiar with the period in which Ludmila and Drahomíra lived, also with their deeds and destinies. Their husbands as well as their children played an important role for both women. And according to the legends just Drahomíra{\crq}s son Václav was the reason of their greatest strife, which finally ended by Ludmila{\crq}s death. From the following text we are getting to know that it but not be the only reason. The end of the work is dedicated to the pieces of knowledge of the modern age which try to confirm or to refute the veracity of legends and chronicles. For an overview there is given the filiations of the oldest legends and the family tree of the Přemysl{\crq}s dynasty.
