The Role of ICT in the Elections and Political Marketing

This bachelor thesis deals with the way political parties are struggling through the area of the New Economy and marketing, which they are striving to use in luring of the general public. Political marketing is connected with the latest methods of using ICT tools, mainly with the Internet in the form of the web 2.0 and with social networks. This thesis engages in the presidential campaign of the American president Barack Obama and his revolutionary technique of running successful political campaign and the way he used wide range of ICT technologies to his advantage. His election battle and social media strategy set an important precedent for another politicians and even for business around the world.

As a reaction to problems of the portal iKariera.cz with low numbers of visitors and registered users the thesis tries to evaluate the suitability, contributions and effectiveness of chosen online marketing tools and also their potential for solving those problems for the future. The thesis compares the contributions and effectiveness of SEO, PPC campaigns in the search engine of Google and campaigns at social network site Facebook.com with other offline and cross media campaigns realized at the same time. On the basis of a comparison of the outputs and other facts the thesis tries to give future oriented recommendations for the formulation of a marketing communication strategy for the portal."
