The menstrual cycle from the perspective of women
MAURICOVÁ, Michaela
This bachelor thesis deals with women's awareness in the field of menstrual cycle. The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the anatomy of female genitals, the physiology of the menstrual cycle, it also mentions the disorders of the menstrual cycle. Last but not least, it solves period supplies and related hygiene and menstrual poverty. The theoretical part also mentions the impact of the global SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on a woman's menstrual cycle and the role of a midwife in education. Two goals have been set for the practical part. The first goal was to find out what information women have about the menstrual cycle. The second goal was to map if women are informed about menstruation by a midwife. The research survey has been conducted on the basis of a questionnaire survey. The self-designed questionnaire consisted of closed and semi-closed questions. The Mann-Whitney test for two independent samples and the two relative frequency agreement tests have been used to evaluate the hypotheses. The research group consisted of 1 499 respondents. Respondents were divided intocategories according to age 18-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-60 and 61 and over. The questionnaire was shared on the social network Facebook. Women aged 18-25 had the largest proportion of the total number of respondents. Related to the above objectives, the hypotheses have been set this way: H1: Women aged 18-35 are more informed about menstruation than women aged 36 and over. H2: Women aged 18-35 had more information from their mothers at the onset menstruation than women aged 36 and over. H3: Women get information about menstruation from the Internet rather than from a midwife. The research survey has found out that respondents obtained information about menstruation mainly from their mothers. 1 169 (77.9 %) of all women interviewed received information from their mothers, who rated information mainly as sufficient (31.4 %; 470 answers) or as average (22 %; 330 answers). Another 712 (47.4 %) women got information from the Internet and 602 (40.2 %) from school. 3.7% of women surveyed (56 women) stated that no one provided them with any information. Only 26 (1.7 %) women received information from the midwife. The research has also shown that women aged 18-35 have more knowledge of menstruation than women aged 36 and over. Regarding information from mothers, women aged 18-35 had more information from mothers at the start of menstruation thanwomen aged 36 and over. The proportion of women who mentioned the internet as a source of information is greater than the proportion of women who mentioned a midwife. Research has shown that women are informed about menstrual cycle. However, it is important to midwives to use sufficiently their competencies.
Familiarity of young women about menstruation
Černá, Kamila ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Váchová, Alena (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the menstrual cycle and the sexual development of a woman. First chapters provide general information about anatomy and physiology. Next chapters deal with menstrual hygiene and practical tips for women during menstruation. Menarche - the period of the first menstruation is also included in theoretical part. The emphasis is on the clarity of the text and its benefit in the practice of teachers and parents. The practical part consists of the results of the quantitative questionnaire survey, that was focused mainly on the knowledge about the menstrual cycle and about the practical experience of women during the menstruation. Part of the research is devoted to the period of menarche in life of questioning women. The results show that women tend to have a basic knowledge of the menstrual cycle. 16 % of women can describe the cycle correctly and 40 % describe all the female internal organs. Based on these results a recommendation has been made to renew and consolidate information about this issue. KEYWORDS menstruation, ritual, sexuality, taboo, menarche, intimate hygiene

Hygiene and care of the external genital in peditaric gynecology.
TUČKOVÁ, Martina
This Bachelor Dissertation's theme is the care and hygiene of a female child's outer genitals. It focuses on finding out the level of mothers' information on the subject. Different stages of girls' age and development are examined from a gynaecological point of view; anatomical differences are described in the theoretical part of the work. Hygienic care of the outer genital is closely associated with incidence of gynaecological illness during childhood, vulvovaginitis and development of synechiae, and further chapters are devoted to explanation of these terms. The role of a midwife, education and communication with the young female patient, her parents and especially with her mother arethe integral part of the practical work. Experimental section was carried out by a quantitative method via an anonymous non-standardised questionnaire aimed at mothers of girls aged from birth to 12 years. The questionnaires were handed out in Prague during February and March 2014 at two selected gynaecological ambulances, one medical centre for children and a maternity department of a university hospital. The main aim of this work was to find the level of knowledge mothers had about hygiene and care of a girl's outer genital. Two questions were asked. The first one sought to find out how mothers gain knowledge and information about the care for a girl's outer genital and second one aimed to find out how the genital care is carried out. From the analysis of these findings it was ascertained that from 94 respondents the largest group had university level education, 31-35 years old caring for one daughter aged 25 months to six years old. It was also found that a great majority of these mothers had generally correct information about hygienic care of girl's outer genital and it can be presumed they were well equipped to carry it out by methods recommended in the specialist literature. All mothers knew the correct way of cleaning a girl's bottom following defecation and majority used running water. Nevertheless, the area mothers are not so certain about is synechiae and its prevention. Although the question about care of a girl's outer genital up to 2 years of age was generally answered correctly, it was shown from further responses that 37 % did not know whether the hygienic care can affect development of synechiae. It also transpired that mothers not only gain the appropriate information from their children's practical doctors but also from internet. Should their daughters have any gynaecological problems, these mothers would seek help from a specialist child gynaecologist. It was also found that the appropriate instructions were given to mothers in the hospital by a midwife or child nurse. The midwife was only minimally involved in educating mothers about care and hygiene for their baby daughters. The number of mothers requesting further information about care and hygiene was practically equal to the number of respondents that have already stated that they are sufficiently informed already. From that follows that although most mothers are sufficiently well informed, there is a room for improvement by further widening of information about problems of synechiae. Although mothers are in majority sufficiently informed about the care of the outer genitals, there is, however, in specialist medical literature prevailing opinion that bacterial infection is the cause of vulvovaginitis. In conclusion are the recommendations for further use of this work. It is recommended as a source of information for midwifes, specialist and general nurses involved in education mothers of girls of all ages. It was also recommended to create a specialist leaflet that would highlight the important information mothers need to provide an appropriate care for a girl's outer genitalia.
The chosen topics from health propedeutics - tattoo, piercing and intimate hygiene of boys and girls in the age between 12 - 15 years.
HÁKOVÁ, Alena
The thesis is based on the results of theoretical - empirical studies. The aim of my thesis is the primary monitoring of the skills of boys and girls in the pubescent age from the chapters selected from propedeutics. This is an area of tattoos, piercings and intimate hygiene. Keywords: tattoo, piercing, intimate hygiene, boy, girl, health propedeutics, body art, infection. The work consists of several parts. The theoretical part describes the function of tattoos, side effects of application, piercings, intimate hygiene of men and women, the development of children in the age of 12 to 15 years, compulsory school attendance. The practical part analyzes the level of awareness, identifies students' attitudes towards this issue. Analysis are based on questionnaires which I wrote by myself and which were filled in by students of selected schools. Processing is shown in the graphic design. In conclusion, I can certify that the students of secondary schools are better informed than primary school students. Research question ?girls are better informed than boys? was been confirmed.
