Zahradníková, Pavla ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Novotná, Irena (referee)
Title of master's thesis: The relation between backache and urinary incontinence Aims: The aim of the thesis is to find relations between various body structures. The main focus is on the analysis of the connections between backache and urinary incontinence depending on duration of backache, localization, backache promotion and sports activities. Methods: The survey was carried out by a four-page questionnaire. In total there was a group of 97 respondents, 79 women and 18 men, who had problems with backache, urinary incontinence or both. The age range of the respondents was from 18 up to 84 years. The questionnaires were distributed to specialized clinical centers in the fields of rehabilitation and physical medicine. The survey data was processed and analyzed by using the statistical program SPSS, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Results: The results indicate that there is a relation between backache and urinary incontinence. There is also a relation between promotion of pain in the lower extremities and urinary incontinence. Moreover, it has shown that more than half of the respondents had backache and urinary incontinence at the same time. However, the last two results have not been found statistically significant. According to the survey there is a proved influence of the...
Vascularity of Female Urethra in Correlation to Urinary Incontinence : Diagnostic Algorithms and Its Clinical Implications
Švabík, Kamil ; Martan, Alois (advisor) ; Halaška, Michael (referee) ; Adamík, Zdeněk (referee)
Introduction: Intrinsic and extrinsic urethral factors play a significant role in urinary continence mechanism in women. Urethral wall structure including inervation, perfusion of submucosal layer etc. is not clinically assessed despite its important role in urethral closure function. The association of incontinence and pelvic floor reconstructive surgery is well known. Every postoperative healing process is associated with factors of ischemia and neovascularisation. According those facts we would expect that the healing and scaring should involve intrinsic urethral mechanism. After reconstructive surgery Implants further increase scaring process. Methods: In our study we included patients with anterior compartment defect. We randomized patients into three interventional arms according the surgical approach and use of implants. Before and 3-5 month after the surgery we performed urodynamic studies and pelvic floor ultrasound examination, including Doppler for urethral perfusion assessment. Another early ultrasound scan was added forth day after surgery. We correlated ultrasound and urodynamic parameters. Results: We randomized 87 patients. We couldn't find any correlation between the morphologic changes and severity of incontinence. Methods for urethral perfusion assessment showed high inaccuracy...
The comparison of the effect of methods by Kegel and Mojžíšová in patients with stress incontinence

Urinary incontinence in the elderly over 75 years of age and core stability system
ŠERHÁKOVÁ, Petra
The topic of my bachelor thesis focuses on influencing the urinary incontinence mainly of the immobile individuals over the age of 75. The main objective of this thesis is to map the influence of physiotherapy on seniors with incontinence problems through individual exercises aimed at strengthening the core stability system and the pelvic floor. Partial objective of this work is education of the patients about the preventive measures concerning this problem. To improve the quality of physical condition of the selected individuals, regular physical exercise sessions to practice specifically selected exercises were implemented. These exercises were focused on activation of the core stability system, particularly of the pelvic floor muscles. The theoretical part of this work focuses on the problems related to ageing and old age, this part includes description of the changes that occur in this particular phase of life. In addition, the theoretical part of the thesis includes a basic summary of the knowledge concerning the urinary incontinence and basic description of the anatomy and physiology of the lower urinary tract and the pelvic floor. The last chapter of the theoretical part contains introduction of the core stability system, a short description of its anatomy, function and diagnostics. The practical part of this work was made based upon a qualitative research. Three probands between the ages of 75 and 91, of a rather immobile condition, living in an old people's home and suffering from various levels of urinary incontinence were examined. The patients' medical history was examined, the patients filled out a questionnaire evaluating their quality of life. Kinesiological analysis was carried out before and after the physiotherapy. The data gathered and the research results were processed in the form of casuistries. Based on the patients´ examination, an individual remedial plan composed of specifically selected exercises was created for each patient . The therapy consisted of two or three approximately 30 minutes long exercises per week and lasted for 12 weeks, every proband underwent 30 therapies in total. This study can be considered as beneficial because positive effects of the therapy on all the probands were observable. Not only was there an improvement of the problems related with urinary incontinence, but there was also observable decrease in the pain of the musculoskeletal system and increase of the overall physical condition. This bachelor thesis can be used for physiotherapeutical purposes not only for patients over the age of 75, but for all patients suffering from incontinence. This work can be also used as a complex study material in this area for students of physiotherapy, practical physiotherapists, patients suffering from incontinence as well as their family members.

The congenital disorder contains atrophy and ectopic urethra. We can divide fistulas into uretral, vesicular and ureteral fistulas. Urethral incontinence are further divided into stress, reflex, urgent and paradoxical ischurii (Locksmith and Macek, 2012). From a nursing perspective is urinary inkontinence divided into nursing diagnoses : Functional incontinence 00020, then Urinary incontinence with overflow 00176, Reflex incontinence 00018, Stress urinary inkontinence 00017, Urge urinary incontinence 00019, Impaired excretion of urine 00016, Urinary retention 00023, Risk of urge urinary incontinence 00022, Efforts to improve the excretion of urine 00166 (Herdman, 2013). The theoretical part of the thesis is talking about the definition of the concept of urinary incontinence and its further division. Also is solving the role of nurses in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, therapy, nursing process for clients with urinary inkontinence and classification of urinary incontinence by nursing diagnoses with nursing interventions. The practical part of my thesis contains the results of qualitative research, which were obtained by interviews, in-depth interview technique, then content analysis of nursing documentation and comparison of two standards of nursing care of selected hospitals of the Sought Bohemia. The practical outcome of the thesis will be finished client's care plan which is dealing patient long-term bedridden with urinary incontinence.
