Information society and wireless municipal networks

Nowadays the information society is a very often discussed topic, but lots of people don't know precisely what this idea means, or they have different opinions. The main characteristics of information society are labor with data, digital elaboration, ways of storage and data transportation. In these times labor with data is becoming an economical activity, that runs trough all segments. We are living in the age of digitalization and the rate of progression is still rising. This theme is also important in public sector. One of elementary activities in public sector is rising digital awareness of inhabitants. Other goal local governments are aiming for is providing high level and high quality information and communication services. One of the ways to achieve these goals is without doubt building wireless municipal networks. There are several investor models for implementing these municipal networks. There are also several models that address the various ways these networks can contribute to their users. Purpose of this study is to define and explain elementary terms such as "information society" and "municipal network" and other terms that are connected with these. Another object of this study is to show different ways to implement these wireless municipal networks and also to show examples where the act of implementation of municipal network has already been processed and make success assessment of existing implementations from the initiator -- local government's point of view.
Cyberspace and his influence upon today

In this work I am focusing on cyberspace and how it effects us in everyday life. Which negatives and positives (pros and cons) this technological move is bringing us. Next part I am talking about cyberculture and what it means for us to live a cultural life on the internet. At the end, I am considering main streams of the next evolution.
Analysis of the impacts of internet on society from generational perspective

The work deals with generational aspects of information society. The first part describes the information society through five criteria. Furthermore, the issue of digital divide is discussed, focusing on generational type. More details are addressed about four types of access to information and communication technologies and field of digital exclusion. The third chapter describes the concept of the net generation and changes that theorists credited to this group as a result of rising in information society. It describes changes in five areas: thinking, learning, working, consumption and culture. Social network sites are taken into account, specifically their effects on the younger generation and the related issue of misuse of personal information. Furthermore, the work focuses on the implications of the emergence of the information society for seniors, which are further analyzed in the fourth part. Benefits that ICT brings to seniors are described. It also discusses barriers to the use of these technologies. In the last part the questionnaire is analyzed.
Information Society and the Internet

Internet has an important role in the society. Internet is one of the most important factors to transmit and receive information. Information in electronic form has advantages and risks. The aim of this work is to describe the advantages and risks and recommend how to proceed in a given situation. In the first part we will work with demarcation of the importance of information and what information is. There is no a single view on information. Here we meet with the definitions of various disciplines. In the second part of the work is described the computerization of the pros and cons associated with that new approaches and technologies have brought. The aim of the computerization is to come to the emergence of the Internet and characterized the current information society in a few selected contexts, when the society is dependent on modern information networks and information.
The role of e-business and ICT and its support in the European Union

Thesis identifies the role of e-business and ICT in the economy of the present European Union and their function in increasing EU's competitiveness in the world's economy. It maps and evaluates help of the public sector of the European Union for this important component of modern economy. Thesis also describes current state of e-business and ICT both in the European Union and the world and outlines their probable future development.
The Impact of Internet on the Information Society

This paper is based on the spatial theory of information society, more precisely on the work of S. Sassen and M. Castells. This theory is introduced in the first part of this paper. The main goal of the work is to perform statistical analyses of empirical data, which are mostly from international institutions, for each region and in this way to examine the universal validity of hypotheses about the impact of the internet on the economic performance, as well as spatial transformation. While in all regions the correlation between internet and GDP per capita was proved, the hypothesis connected with spatial transformation was not proved. Because of this is has been suggested to further examine the reasons behind the transformation of urban structure in the information society.
Internet and the Information Society

Work deals with the importance of information in today's society, in particular due to the way the information on changes in long-term used practices in the various people and society. The ongoing development of the information society in recent decades is enormous and the subconscious of people is seen mainly from the technical aspects of the rapid developments in the field of information and communication technologies. From the philosophical point of view has, however, development work with the information much deeper implications. The existence of various technical devices and innovations are just the tip of the iceberg, most of which he knows from everyday life, such as a current or print ads. The real and fundamental change impact of development work with the information it should be seen as behavior changes constantly, in particular, growth in the value of people's mental health workers, trading and information processing capabilities and the related emergence of new concepts such as intellectual property or e-money.
Literacy of IS/IT in Czech republic

This thesis deals with the level of information literacy IS/IT in Czech republic based on comparison with surrounding states of European territory. Countries were chosen by number of inhabitants and their membership or long term cooperation with European Union. 16 countries meet given conditions - Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Austria, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. Countries were divided into 2 categories according the date of admission to European Union. First group were formed by so called "old" countries with Norway and in the second group were countries accepted to European Union in 2004 and 2007. The goal of this work is compare the level of information literacy IS/IT of Czech Republic with 16 chosen countries in 5 areas acting in information society -- i2010 benchmarking indicators and e2005 Policy indicators, computers and the Internet in households and enterprises, e-commerce by individuals and enterprises, structural indicators of information society and research and development. Final thesis analyses/subscribe years 2005 -- 2007 and presumable future development not only in the area of information literacy, but also information society.
The development of the information society for improving the competitiveness of the European Union

The society of the 21. century is changing from industrial to information society.This highly dynamic process started many changes in all aspects of peoples lives - the extension of knowledge, social interaction, economics, business administration, politics, media, health. The development of the information society is in a progress under high speed and demands higher knowledge and qualification of the citizens, mainly in the area of working with information and communication technologies. People have to adapt to these radical changes quickly, do decisions fast and accurately, because this is what has the biggest impact on success, competitiveness, and sometimes also survival. Therefore it is necessary to allow access to the internet, information technologies and education for everyone, so that everyone will be able to benefit from the advantages the information society brings. The result will be higher level of education, comprehension of the weaker social groups to society, growth of productivity and employment, better services, inovations and effective use of public facilities.
