Americanisms in contemporary Spanish: a comparative lexicographic analysis of entries from a selected subject area (names of animals and plants)

The aim of this thesis is primarily to clarify the meaning of the term Americanism. For this reason, the thesis is mainly aimed at explaining it in all its meanings to avoid its misuse. In addition, the thesis deals with the phenomenon of language contact, especially in the context of the interaction between Spanish and indigenous languages. A secondary objective of the thesis is to evaluate the completeness of the three dictionaries in terms of the interpretation of selected representatives of flora and fauna. Specifically, these are the Diccionario de la lengua espa?ola (Real Academia Espa?ola, 1780-2023), the Diccionario de americanismos (Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Espa?ola, 2010) and the Španělsko-český slovník amerikanismů (Černý, 2018). In this context, the thesis includes the subject of lexicography and a description of the dictionary structure. The empirical part of the thesis consists of comparing the interpretations of twenty selected Americanisms in the field of names of animals and plants in the above-mentioned dictionaries. An output glossary is also included.

This work will consist of an analysis of the book The Three Halves of Ino Moxo and other wizards of the Amazon (Tres mitades de Ino Moxo y otros brujos amazónicos) written by the Peruvian writer César Calvo. It will mainly focus on the author's attempt to understand the different and wrongfully underestimated spiritual world of the Amazonian Indians. Firstly, it will briefly introduce the author and mention the situation in Peruvian literature of the time. It will then look at the context in Latin American literature and will point out the common aspects of the book with novels of the jungle, with indigenist literature, and with the novels of magic realism and marvelous real. The core of the work will lie in the interpretation of the text. It will try to answer the question on the genre of the book and will then define its composition. Of particular importance will be the chapter on style, which will analyse in details the lyrical character of this prose. It will give evidence of the frequent use of poetic figures in the book by presenting examples thereof. It will look at the way of creating time and space. Reflection of the Indigenous World in the 20th Century Latin American Essay PhDr. Lucie Núñez Tayupanta Abstract This dissertation focuses on the study of essayistic works which reflect the presence of indigenous world and its cultural traditions in Latin America. The aim of this work is to answer the question of how Latin-American essayists consider the contribution of the indigenous heritage to the creation of national identity. Furthermore, the work aims to point out the differences in approach of the essayists and to emphasize specific elements of this process in their works. At the beginning, the thesis deals with the theoretical definition of the genre of essay which is primarily based on studies of Spanish and Latin-American critics. The main part is devoted to the analysis of six essayistic works where three different approaches to the relationship between cultures are evident. The harmonic conception is present in the work of the Mexican writer Alfonso Reyes. Reyes finds common features between the original (pre- Columbian) and the contemporary culture and observes a blending of these two units. In the case of Reyes' text, we can see an effort to find a harmony in the fusion of cultures, the European and indigenous tradition. The Influence of the Indigenous Movements on International Position of the Latin American States

The main theme of the thesis is the influence of the ascending indigenous movement on the international position of the states Bolivia and Peru. Based on the analysis of internal changes and through comparison of both countries from the perspective of the international environment, the work tries to answer whether the international environment reflects these internal changes or not. For comparison are used the attitudes of regional economic and political partners, as well as USA and European Union and four non-governmental organizations. The work contains the history of indigenous peoples in the territory of Bolivia and Peru, the internal changes under the government of Evo Morales in Bolivia and APRA government in Peru.
