Determination of properties of as-sprayed and EB-deposited coatings prepared by thermal spray technologies using scratch test and nano-indentation methods
Cének, Lukáš ; Tkachenko, Serhii (referee) ; Čížek, Jan (advisor)
Properties of samples and their coatings may be affected by the electron beam. This paper deals with the analysis of the microstructure, phase and chemical composition and the determination of mechanical characteristics of inconel steel substrate and CoNiCrAlY coatings deposited via different types of thermal spraying (HVOF, cold spray), in combination with modifications by the electron beam technology. During the study it was found that the deposition did not change the chemical composition. Further it was found that the interaction of the electron beam with the material did not change the chemical composition, but there is a change in the structure and a reduction of porosity and surface roughness, resulting in a change of mechanical properties such as decreasing hardness or increase of the modulus of elasticity.
Design of a suitable shape of test bars used for HCF (high cycle fatigue) and LCF (low cycle fatigue) and elimination of internal defects for reduction of their influence
Hemala, Robert ; Šustek, Petr (referee) ; Ňuksa, Petr (advisor)
The topic of this thesis is the formation of microporosity in cast test bars of nickel-base superalloy Inconel 713LC during solidification. The theoretical part consists of nickel alloys, their macrostructure, the method of casting and crystallization of nickel-based superalloys. The second part is devoted to the design of casting conditions, the production of shell molds, the size and shape of grains, evaluation of microporosity by various available methods, comparing the influence of grain size and the proportion of microporosity on the resulting values of the mechanical tests. Experiments were carried out in cooperation with PBS Velká Bíteš and ÚST foundry department.

Materials for IV. generation power plants
Hovorka, Martin ; Svoboda, Pavel (referee) ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to describe material needs of chosen Generation IV nuclear reactors – VHTR, SCWR, and MSR with the emphasis on the VHTR. It describes the main principle and a constructional arrangement of VHTR components with its material demands. SCWR and MSR reactors are described in terms of its material requirements. The middle part of this thesis is dedicated to the available material candidate analysis. Main material properties are discussed and at the end of this part the suitability of chosen materials for a flange joint in VHTR heat exchanger is assessed. The last chapter (the practical part) is focused on an experimental proposal of changeability of older materials by the new ones using the electron beam welding method.
Processing of metallic materials by Selective Laser Melting at elevated temperatures
Malý, Martin ; Filho, Sergio de Traglia Amancio (referee) ; Dr. Michael R. Tucker (referee) ; Koutný, Daniel (advisor)
Z rešeršní části byly identifikovány perspektivní oblasti, které doposud nebyly dostatečně zkoumány, a kde by předehřev mohl vést k zefektivnění technologie LPBF a rozšíření oblasti zpracovatelných materiálů. U Inconelu 939 dokonce zvýšená teplota vedla k vyšším deformacím, a tedy zbytkovým napětím v důsledku evoluce karbidické fáze. Všechny výsledky vedou k lepšímu pochopení chování materiálů během zpracování technologií LPBF a mohou vést k jejímu rozšíření do dalších průmyslových odvětví.
