Ecological condition of streams in urban areas. Case study of the Rokyka basin.
Stádníková, Monika ; Matoušková, Milada (advisor) ; Králová, Magdalena (referee)
The thesis deals with the status assessment of the stream in urban areas. The study area is the stream Rokytka in Prague. The method Hydroecological monitoring HEM (Langhammer, 2007, 2013) was used for the thesis based on field hydromorphological survey. This method is compatible with the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC. The thesis also includes assessement of the rainoff regime and water quality based on the available hydrological and hydrochemical data. As a final result, it was found out the stream Rokytka achieves III. hydromophological state - average state. The water quality state does not meet the requirements of the environmental standards quality. In the urban landscape, it is necessary to find a suitable compromise between flood protection and good environmental conditions. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Changes of physical river habitat in the Prague city area. Case study area of the Botič catchment.
Tichý, Vojtěch ; Matoušková, Milada (advisor) ; Kliment, Zdeněk (referee)
During the last 200 years third of all watercourses in Czech republic were modified, stress were massively degraded especialy in the urban areas. The increasing urbanization of the landscape has led in recent years to increased researsch ecology of urban environment, this created the need for quality assesment of watercourses. This bachelor thesis deals with anthropogenically modified flows, quality and change of physical habitat watercourses in urban areas. The main objective of this work is the evluation and presentation of the results of the field survey that was conducted in the Botič river basin using the metodology HEM and HEM-F. Field survey was conducted in the lower reaches of Botič below the Hostivař dam (river km 0,00 to 13,30 km). This section has been most modified in the past, notably in the context of urbanization. In addition to the hydromorphological condition were also mapped fluvial-morphological effects of flood 2013. Based on the evaluation results of the field survey the majority of segments were classified as poor or bad.
Applicability of distance data for hydromorphological assessment on the example of Elbe river
Vacková, Tereza ; Langhammer, Jakub (advisor) ; Hartvich, Filip (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the applicability of distance data for hydromorphological assessment. Background research is focused on different types of distance data sources and selected hydromorphological methods. Applicability of distance data in hydromorphological assessment was tested on four selected sections of Elbe River, on which there was previously conducted field survey. Hydromorphological assessment was based on methodology HEM (Hydroecological monitoring). Results from the field survey were used as a reference resources for comparison with the own results achieved by the assessment with distance data using public available data sources. The results indicated that use of distance data for hydromorphological assessment can be regarded as an alternative to the field survey. At the same time the study pointed to clear limitations in assessment of some parameters, namely of river bottom, where the field survey cannot be replaced by any known distance data source. The results proved that the application of distance data can lead to the results comparable to the field survey while respecting uncertainty, given by impossibility to determine some of the parameters.
Hydromorphological assessment of rivers using distance data sources
Králová, Magdalena ; Matoušková, Milada (advisor) ; Hais, Martin (referee) ; Lehotský, Milan (referee)
The thesis is aimed on hydromorphological assessment with usage of distance data. The distance method QuaWaDis is defined and the usage of results of image processing within the hydromorphological assessment is considered. The aim of the assessment is classification of hydromorphological conditions of water bodies according to Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC. Distance method is based on visual interpretation of public data. Image processing results can extend the number of parameters of the distance method - object based classification was applied on aerial imagery (in land cover classification), unsupervised classification and image reclassification was applied on multispectral satellite data (in water depths classification). The calibration of distance method and the credibility of the distance data was evaluated in comparison with results of field survey EcoRivHab (Matoušková, 2008). Object based image processing was aimed on accuracy assessment, index of efficiency was defined and the concept of fuzzy logic was applied in accuracy assessment. From consideration of classification efficiency is obvious, that large internally heterogeneous objecs is more effectivelly to vectorise manually. Accuracy assessment with usage of concept of fuzzy logic shows the success of object recognition within each...
Assessment of water quality and physical river habitat chages in the interaction on macroinvertebrates.
Altmann, Martin ; Matoušková, Milada (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee)
Streams are an important part of the most ecosystems, they help them to maintain their stability and function. They should therefore be the subject of study and especially protection. For their monitoring and assessment of ecological status is increasingly used biomonitoring of benthic fauna, which well reflects the biotic and abiotic conditions in physical habitats of streams. These abiotic conditions of physical habitats which are shaped by physical and chemical factors are the subject of literature search part of this work. The second part is about the research in experimental catchments of Zbytinský brook and Tetřívčí brook, tributaries of headwater Blanice river which springs in the foothills of the Šumava mountain range. The research took place on 5 sampling sites which are different in hydromorphological parameters and rate of human activities impact. There was assessed water quality following the previous research and its relationship with discharge conditions. In the case of Tetřívčí brook, there was also assessed physical habitat and macrozoobenthic community. Zbytinský brook catchment was in the past significantly affected by agricultural activities. The main reach, which flows through Zbytiny village with 300 inhabitants, and its tributaries were meliorated. The only one tributary...
Hydromorphological survey of the Bilina River
Kyselka, Jan ; Matoušková, Milada (advisor) ; Langhammer, Jakub (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is assessment and presentation of results of the hydromorphological survey of the Bílina river, which belongs to rivers with the biggest anthropogenic impact in the Czech Republic. The method Hydroecological monitoring (HEM, Langhammer, 2007) was used for the survey. This method is compatible with the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC. 53 parts of the river with the lenght 31,99 km were assessed. The thesis also includes assessement of the rainoff regime and information about protection of water ecosystems and sources in the Bílina river basin. Keywords: hydromorphology, HEM, Bílina river
