Migrační vlna z Venezuely do Peru v důsledku venezuelské krize: Případová studie Venezuelců v Cuscu

Diploma thesis deals with the topic of migration wave from Venezuela to Peru due to the Venezuelan crisis. The aim is to find out how Venezuelan migrants perceive current situation in Venezuela and what was the main reason for them to leave the country. Furthermore, how they perceive employment possibilities in Peru, Peruvian themselves and the diversity of both cultures. Finally, how much they feel accepted by the local people in Peru. The thesis is divided into the theoretical, analytical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the explanation and definition of the concepts of migration theory with selection and closer acquaintance with the push-pull theory of migration. The analytical part describes the facts leading to the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, together with the current issues and the most important factors of the crisis. The topic of the food crisis, crime, inflation, and other factors related to the issue is described in more detail. Diploma thesis also focuses on the current situation in Peru, namely in Cusco and what influence the Venezuelan migration crisis has on this receiving state and region. The main subject of the thesis is a practical part, which is based on the method of semi-structured interviews with Venezuelan migrants living in the Peruvian city of Cusco.
Foreign Aid as a Variable in the Equation of the War in Yemen

This master's thesis analyses the different narratives constructed by three actors, towards the war in Yemen. The thesis will draw on the constructivist theory to answer the question: how do different actors construct the war in Yemen and the humanitarian crisis in their discourses and narratives? To answer this question, the theoretical part defines different concepts, such as identity, norms, national interest, strategic narrative and discourse. It presents the constructivist understanding of identity as a social construction, shaped by collective components of knowledge, symbols, language and norms. The empirical part attempts to identify the narratives constructed by the Houthis, Saudi Arabia and the EU towards the war in Yemen, which provoked a Saudi-led military intervention when the Houthis seized the capital and declared the establishment of a new government in March 2015. The Houthis consider the intervention as an aggression to Yemen and as the main cause of suffering of the Yemeni people. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia presents the crisis as Iran's attempt to control the country and spread its influence throughout the region. Cold chain management in humanitarian logistics

The aim of the diploma thesis is to propose assorted variants of the cold chain solution for the humanitarian projects in Iraq. Another target is to carry out a systematic analysis of Iraqi infrastructure. The application part is based on a personal interviews and information provided by the organization Doctors Without Borders. This data were supported by secondary and publicly available data and their subsequent processing and evaluation. Another aim pose the fact that ongoing humanitarian projects in some country do not automatically mean that the country has unusable infrastructure. These conclusions are not based on the outcomes and internal policies of organization Doctors Without Borders. At the end of the thesis, there are also presented proposals for future research in the field of humanitarian logistics and the outlines of the possible constraints related to them.
Participation of UN in humanitarian crisis caused by armed conflict, focused on humanitarian intervention

This diploma work "Participation of UN in humanitarian crisis caused by armed conflict, focused on humanitarian intervention" devotes to problems with using humanitarian intervention as one of the most controversial measures, that were reaction to humanitarian crisis, caused by armed conflicts. It focuses on humanitarian intervention of first half of 90's, when this concept was stigmatised by unsuccessful solutions to armed conflicts in Rwanda and Somalia. It tries to reveal fouls, which UN committed in these conflicts and maps out the pretences at balancing with these fouls and taking instruction to the future. Furthermore it devotes to questions which using concept of humanitarian intervention stired up and new concept Responsiblity to protect is also gone with the same questions. This work maps out measures of UN, which are using in case of armed conflicts and shift of opinion from the term humanitarian intervention to concept Responsibility to protect, which implemention is stiring up lively discussion. Nevertheless this concept was unanimously voted by all member countries in Summit OSN 2005. Efforts of international security and peace with be ever actual issue a this issue should be at front of all people's interest.
Humanitarian crises and their solution: Case study of the West African Ebola virus epidemic

The aim of this work is to determine whether the steps taken by international organisations under the leadership of the World Health Organisation helped to alleviate humanitarian consequences of the West African Ebola epidemic that took place in 2014 - 2016. This work further discusses the role of the most significant actors and specific tools used to provide help in epidemics on the international level and in the three most affected countries.
Piracy in Somalia as consequence of failed state

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the influence of state failure on the genesis of piracy in Somalia. This bachelor thesis is focused on description of situation in the failed state of Somalia and connecting this situation with rise of piracy in the region. Task is to show the connection between piracy and harsh economic conditions, ineffective and corrupted government institutions and humanitarian crisis, caused by natural disasters and long-lasting civil war. Results obtained from analysis are used to recommend effective solution which would assist in eradicating piracy in Somalia.
The role of international intergovernmental organizations in humanitarian crisis response: Case study

This bachelor thesis focuses on the earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010 and examines the roles of the European Union and the United Nations, two key actors in providing humanitarian aid. The aim of the thesis is to establish whether there were any differences or similarities between the EU and the UN in conducting a major relief operation in Haiti. Another goal is to examine whether the mutual cooperation between the two organizations improved the post-earthquake environment on the island. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter explains the concepts and key principles of a humanitarian crisis and humanitarian aid. The second examines how the EU and the UN delivers humanitarian aid. The third chapter reconstructs chronologically the Haiti earthquake and its aftermath and analyses how effective the EU and UN were and whether it had alleviated the suffering of the Haitian people. The chapter will also critically examine the cooperation between the EU and the UN.
Dealing with the humanitarian crisis in Iraq after Iraqi Freedom in 2003 - case study

This thesis focuses on the activities od international organizations in Iraq in 2003 after the operation Iraqi Freedom. It aims to determine whether the steps taken by various international organizations have led to reducing the impact of humanitarian crises, which began after this operation. The first part defines the humanitarian crisis, its actors and possible solutions. The second part analyzes the causes of the humanitarian crisis in Iraq. In the third part the author focuses on studying how the humanitarian organizations helpped reduce the humanitarian crises.
