Comparison of holistic nursing care in Czech Republic and Thailand from the perspective of local students
WALTEROVÁ, Markéta
This bachelor's paper aims to map and compare holistic nursing care in the Czech Republic and Thailand as students of the nursing programme have experienced it during the internship in Thailand. In the theoretical part of the paper, we learn the definition of holism, holistic nursing care, a person's needs and how to satisfy them, and how nursing care's theoretical items help fulfil those needs. In the empirical part of the thesis, we did qualitative research with the help of semistructured interviews. We texted with Thai students, and we recorded Czech students during our conversation and then transcribed it. In both cases, we used open coding and worked with a pencil and a paper copy of the transcript. We divided the results of our research into five categories. In the first category, we evaluated the knowledge of holistic nursing care and showed students' subjective attitude. The second category studied the Czech approach to holistic nursing care, socio-cultural and religious standards influencing the care. And the third category examined the Thai approach to holistic nursing care. In the fourth category, we compared the most significant differences in holistic nursing care in the Czech Republic and Thailand. The last category introduced the possibilities of how providing holistic nursing care in Thailand can be an inspiration for the Czech Republic. This paper paid attention to the different application of holism to nursing care in countries with a distinct culture. As we have experienced in the internship in Thailand, the Czech medical system can draw inspiration from improving satisfying our patients' needs.

Holistic Approach to Nursing Care for Patient with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
KRATOCHVÍLOVÁ, Inka
This thesis aims to describe the holistic approach to nursing care of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Based on the established aim two research questions were formulated. First research question: What is the biopsychosocial care for patient with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis like? Second research question: What biopsychosocial needs do patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis have? In the empirical part of the thesis the method of qualitative research using the in-depth interview, which was conducted with general nurses who have experience with taking care of patients with ALS was used. The interview has two parts. In the first part the basic identification data of the informants were found out. The second part was already the interview itself, which was divided into three parts. The first part focuses on the complex nursing care of patients with ALS. The second part finds out the needs of patients with ALS and how are they fulfilled. And the last, third part deals with suggestions of nurses how to improve the nursing care of patients with ALS. For each part the key points for conducting an interview were made up. If needed the informants were also asked complementary questions, which led to a deepening of the topic. The interviews were recorded using a Dictaphone. And subsequently they were converted to written form and processed using the open coding method using the "Pencil and Paper" technique. The results of the research are divided into two parts. The first part is made up of the basic identification data of the informants, the second part consists of three categories that describe detailed results. Category number one deals with the nursing care focused on physical interventions, which general nurses do with patients with ALS and it also deals with the biological needs of these patients and how are they satisfied by the nurses. Category number two describes nursing care with emphasis on the psychosocial aspect and psychosocial and spiritual needs of patients with ALS and their satisfaction by the nurses. Category number 3 offers recommendations for practice of general nurses within the nursing care of patients with ALS. On the basis of the gathered information it is possible to find out, how the holistic care of patients with ALS looks like, but also where are some shortcomings and space for improvement. The results of the research can be applied to practice with the purpose of improving the nursing care of patients with this severe neurological illness.

OLTOVÁ, Eliška
The main goal of this thesis was to map the changes in the life of people diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. To shed light on this topic, three research questions were designated: How does the Parkinson's disease influence the biological site of the individual? How does the Parkinson's disease influence the mental site of the individual? How does the Parkinson's disease influence the social site of the individual? The empirical part of this bachelor thesis was conducted by a method of qualitative research investigation, which was conducted by a technique of semi-structured interview. Each interview was separated into four different parts. The first part was focused on the basic information about the interviewee. The second part was focused on the impact of the disease on the biological site of the individual. The third part was dedicated to unravelling the impact of the disease on the mental site of the individual and the fourth part was revolving around the impact of the disease to the social site of the individual. The researched group consisted of people with Parkinson's disease, who are attending the Parkinson's club in České Budějovice. The obtained results were processed with the method of open coding, utilizing the technique "pen-paper". The results are presented in separate categories, which are further divided into a specific number of subcategories. The first category focuses on the impact of the disease on the biological needs and involves subcategories focused on the first signs of the disease, the mobility, self-sufficiency, sleep and eating. The second category concentrates on the impact of the disease on the mental needs and is composed of subcategories looking at the adaptation to the disease, the mood, life values and priorities. The third category focuses on the impact of the disease on the social needs and involves subcategories focused on the free time activities, the vocational life, the family relationships, the relationships with friends and on the economic situation. Based on the obtained results, it is possible to state that the Parkinson's disease is not only a physical illness, as it strongly affects the mental and social site of the patient as well. The Approach of Czech Health System to Psychosomatic Medicine in Comparison with International Discourses
Wolfová, Magdaléna ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Kotrusová, Miriam (referee)
The research problem in this thesis is the quality of treatment of Czech patients suffering from somatoform disorders. The goal is to evaluate the state of scientific discourse of Czech specialists in Psychosomatics, compared with the international situation as a potential starting point of further institutional change, including its legitimacy (interviews with citizens). Methods were used: (1) critical discourse analysis and (2) semi-structured interview. Findings: The existence of barriers between representatives of the various professional disciplines prevents the development of Czech scientific discourse of Psychosomatics, combined with the applied reform changes focused on individualism and competition. Czech Republic unsufficiently utilizes the knowledge support from international organizations (WHO, OECD, EU) in the field of mental health policy. The formation of Czech health policy is not compliant with human rights related to health and is more focused on the question of financing than on patients' health. Citizens perceive deficits in psychosomatic approach and try to substitute with complementary and alternative forms of medicine.

Nursing care in a hygienic and epidemiological regime from the patient's perspective.
KŘEPELOVÁ, Lenka
Considering contemporary lifestyle and possibility of travelling imported infections accrued and some illnesses come back that have not occurred nearly at us more. Not only haemorrhagic fevers and other highly infectious illnesses but also hospital multiresistant bacterial strains that mean high risk for patients constitute a threat. The number of nosocomial infectious grows still. The patient is in the case of suspicion or already diagnosed infectious illness isolated and treated in the infectious department or in the tribal department in the room with increased hygienic-epidemiologic regime. The patient is saved in a single room, the possibility of visits is reduced and the staff uses personal protective equipment. The man is holistic being and it can come due to isolation to lack of satisfaction of his/her bio-psycho-social needs. The aim of this thesis is to identify unsatisfied bio-psycho-social needs of patients in increased hygienic-epidemiologic regime and to describe changes in needs of the patient depending on the time of hospitalisation. The theoretic part describes the problematics of infectious illnesses, system of the care for the patient with infectious illness and changes in human needs in the period of the illness. The empiric part of the thesis deals with unsatisfied bio-psycho-social needs of isolated individual through quantitative research. The research suite was made up of 10 patients who were hospitalised in the room with increased hygienic-epidemiologic regime. The survey was carried out in the Hospital Jihlava by semistructured interview and the results of the survey were processed by opened coding by method paper and pencil. It is emphasized that the most needs of the patient have biological, psychical, social and even spiritual aspects. The rate of satisfaction with caregiving depends on the health condition and personality of the patient. Not small influence has the length of the hospitalisation, too. It was found out during the survey that the patients have not enough information about specifics of the care in the infectious department and that is why there is often a misunderstanding of necessity of barrier measures. It is possible to avoid useless misunderstanding through timely and suitable education. It was created an educational material with the title "Guide for patients hospitalised in the infectious department of Hospital Jihlava" for this purpose. Employees of the infectious department of Hospital Jihlava were informed with results of the research during a workshop, too.
