The issue of gifted students in techer training

1 ABSTRACT The topic of gifted and exceptionally gifted children, students, and pupils has been receiving increasing attention in recent years. Both experts and the general public are addressing this issue. An individual approach to gifted students that respects their specific characteristics is crucial for their proper development and support of their potential, but it is difficult to achieve without quality teacher training. The aim of this work is to find out how the training of teachers for educating gifted and exceptionally gifted students is conducted and whether future teachers feel prepared to work with gifted students. In the theoretical part, the concept of giftedness and the characteristics of gifted students are defined. The possibilities of educating gifted students, including the legislative framework of this issue, are mentioned in connection with teachers' training. Furthermore, research and surveys related to teachers' readiness for educating gifted students are discussed in the theoretical part. In the empirical part of the thesis, the research goal and questions are first established, followed by a description of the methodology, research plan, and the sample of respondents. Teachers Preparedness to Work with Gifted Pupils

This thesis deals with the preparation of early career teachers to work with gifted and exceptionally gifted pupils in primary schools. The aim of the research is to find out how early career teachers are prepared for the education of gifted pupils. The theoretical part describes the issues of gifted and exceptionally gifted pupils in the context of undergraduate teacher education. The theoretical part defines examples related to good practice from abroad. In the theoretical part there are included the possibilities of further education of teachers in this area. In the empirical part of the thesis, the research problem was first set and addressed using a qualitative approach. The design of the research was a case study. The research sample consisted of six respondents. The data collection was carried out through six semi-structured interviews with respondents aged 23 to 27 years and content analysis of the data, which examined the documents of the study programmes of the faculties of education of the universities where the respondents of this research had studied or were still studying. Issues of Gifted Education in the Teacher Training for Primary School

The thesis deals with issues related to implementation the topic of gifted education into teacher training for primary schools. In the theoretical part of work on the basis of scientific literature prepared the most important findings concerning the theory and the concept of talent. Main attention is paid to personality of gifted child in preschool and primary school age, his identification, specific forms of behavior and potential problems. The following are summarized the basic organizational forms, strategies and models of gifted education. Given the current trend of integration of pupils with special educational needs, the work focus on education of gifted students in regular classrooms. In the next section are described the specifics of development and state of the system of care for gifted pupils in the Czech Republic. The final chapter is devoted to issues of personality of teacher and his training The aim of the research work is in the action research based on the planning, implementation and evaluation of repeated instruction to create your own design course focused on issues particularly gifted pupils and their education as part of undergraduate training of teachers of primary schools at the Faculty of Education at the Charles University.
The Education of Athletically Gifted Students

My thesis focuses on the subject of 'education of athletically talented students' on a theoretical and empirical level. The theoretical part describes 'talent' on a general basis followed by a specific description of a 'sporting talent'. It considers the conditions of education of talented students without a particular focus and subsequently discusses the subject of school education of athletically talented students. It introduces the specific aspects of an athlete as a pupil, the factors that influence his/her educational path and the problem of 'dual career'. It also characterizes the conditions of education of athletes in Europe and the system of education in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is the resource for conducting the empirical part, where the results show how athletes themselves describe and evaluate the conditions of school education. Teaching bilingual adolescents for whom English is a heritage language or who have lived in an Anglophone country, and who are studying in Czech secondary school English classrooms: the students' perspective

(in English) The present thesis explores the issue of teaching heritage language learners and returnee students in English as a foreign language (EFL) classes in Czech secondary schools. The aim of the thesis is to examine the experiences of heritage language learners and returnees in the EFL classroom, their strengths and weaknesses in English, their attitude towards English language learning in terms of potential anxiety and motivation, as well as heritage language learners' wishes in relation to language instruction. These issues are investigated from the perspective of the students themselves. The theoretical part reviews the relevant literature on heritage language acquisition and teaching, and on the effects of experience abroad on language acquisition. Moreover, it is complemented by discussions of differentiated instruction and language education for the gifted, two areas which can prove helpful in terms of finding suitable solutions to the problems encountered by the target population in foreign language classes. The empirical part is qualitative and consists of the analysis of in-depth semi-structured interviews with three participants, gymnázium students from Prague.
