Genealogical Data Visualization
Vlk, Patrik ; Zbořil, František (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis describes the genealogical terms related to creation of family trees, design and implementation of the web application, which enables users to visualize and search genealogical data on the map. The most important task of this application is processing GEDCOM or CSV files, which contain genealogical data. The application is able to display people from the lineages on the map based on their birthplace and enables the user to search persons and areas, in which they are born, according to various criteria.
Comparison of Relation and Document Database Systems
Pakes, Marek ; Rozman, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kočí, Radek (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to compare relational and document-oriented database systems for use in genealogy field. PostgreSQL and MongoDB database systems were used in pursuance of the comparison. The systems are compared according to vital records of marriage and death certificates. Testing data set is generated and filled in the databases by an own implementation of a Node.js script.
Interactive System for Presentation of Genealogical Data
Kakiš, Dávid ; Vídeňský, František (referee) ; Zbořil, František (advisor)
The thesis is aimed at the design and the creation of an application in order to provide an alternative for presenting genealogic data. The thesis documents the basic theoretical knowledge about genealogy, user interaction with a computer system and existing software solutions. As a result, a single-page web application was created using Laravel and AngularJS frameworks, including it's own way of storing data in MySQL. In practice, the application output should be able to provide a simple interface for comfortable use and presentation of family trees to a wide group of users
Genealogy Information System in ASP.NET 2.0
Repta, Martin ; Kupčík, Jan (referee) ; Křivka, Zbyněk (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is engaged in evolution on genealogy information system. The reader is in a position to learn interesting information about genealogy as disciplinary division. It is explaining the question of searching our ancestry. Further, it is addicted to ASP.NET 2.0 and it's advanced capability of the creating web applications. The question of the generation of the genealogical tree, PDF files using the open-source library is also explained there. In the end, there are described possible upgrades of this system.
Family Trees Making from Parish Records
Marhefka, Adam ; Šátek, Václav (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
This work will discuss the field of genealogy, processing, comparing, and classifying genealogical data and subsequent connection of this processed data into bigger structures in graph database. This work directly continues the work of Ing Tušimová and further expands it. The expansions described in the work will be dedicated to addition of support for more forms of input genealogical data, optimization and expansions of the core algorithm realizing the processing of genealogical records. The goal of this work is therefore to make the core algorithm more efficient and precise as well as the addition of support for parish records of marriages and deaths.
Data Synchronization between Two Databases
Synaková, Zuzana ; Kočí, Radek (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
This theses describes the design of a solution and the implementation of data synchronization between two databases. The ProGenealogy extension provides the import of data from a relational database and export to a GEDCOM file. The Python console application implements data import from a GEDCOM file into Neo4j database. The ProGenealogy extension was implemented in C ++ and Qt framework.
Web for Transcribing of Genealogical Sources
Sokolík, Jakub ; Šátek, Václav (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
The DEMoS system is developed to transcribe genealogical data into a web-based form and also provides the possibility to search this data. It currently supports the transcription and processing of 5 of the 8 historical sources. The aim of this work is to perform a thorough analysis of the whole system in order to identify missing and non-functional parts. We will then focus on correcting these deficiencies and filling in the missing parts to ensure that the system is able to fully function as originally designed. One of the main tasks is to complete the missing historical sources to be able to work with all 8 sources within the system. In addition, we will pay attention to the shortcomings in the user interface and work to address them. This includes optimizing usability and increasing the clarity of the system.
