Diabetes mellitus in equestrian sport in Czech Republic
Mašková, Marie ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Vařeková, Jitka (referee)
Title: Diabetes mellitus in Equistrian Sport in Czech Republic Objectives: The aim of the literature review part of the thesis was to give an introduction to the issue of diabetes mellitus as well as the effect of sport on the decompensation of the disease, to search for available sources on a narrowly focused topic - the impact of horse riding on diabetes mellitus, and to process the findings in a clear form into the first (literature review) part of the work. The goal of the second (research) part was to map, with the use of questionnaires and interviews, the situation of diabetes patients in the Czech Republic who do equestrian sport actively. In the case study their subjective feelings were reviewed. The main aim was to prove the positive impact of horse riding on diabetes mellitus, or more precisely to find out if it is stress or physical exertion that has a greater effect on the blood glucose (BG) level. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the issue of public awareness of disease management as well as first aid. Methods: The first part of the thesis was carried out in the form of a literature review, for which research articles and other literature sources were found primarily on electronic information portals (mainly Web of Science, etc.) For the second (research) part a questionnaire (on the...
The effect of omega-3 fatty acids on attention in children with ADHD
Šmaň, Jakub ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Maleček, Jan (referee)
This review deals with the effect of omega-3 fatty acids on attention in children diagnosed with ADHD. This is a theoretical work, which has a descriptive-analytical character and is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes in detail the information related to the topic. The practical part includes a review of selected articles according to the criteria set by us. Subsequently, the results and a final discussion are processed, where the results of research are compared and the most effective food supplements are evaluated in comparison with placebo. We deal with the shortcomings and limitations of the processed articles, where we determine possible recommendations for future research work and compare the obtained results with the current state of research. Keywords: ADHD, attention, attention disorders, Conner's Rating Scale, fatigue, omega-3, physical activity, perception
Acipimox during Short-Term Exercise Exerts A Negative Feedback of Growth Hormone on Ghrelin Secretion in Patients with Bulimia Nervosa and in Healthy Women: The Role of Lipolysis

Title: Acipimox during Short-Term Exercise Exerts A Negative Feedback of Growth Hormone on Ghrelin Secretion in Patients with Bulimia Nervosa and in Healthy Women: The Role of Lipolysis Objective: Eating disorders, such as bulimia nervosa (BN) and anorexia nervosa (AN), are characterized by abnormal eating behavior. The main features of BN are binge-eating and inappropriate compensatory methods to prevent weight gain. The appetite-modulating peptide ghrelin is secreted by the stomach and shows a strong release of growth hormone (GH). A potential GH-ghrelin feedback loop between stomach and the pituitary has been recently reported. Acipimox (Aci), an analogue of nicotinic acid, inhibits lipolysis in adipose tissue (AT) and reduces plasma glycerol and free fatty acids (FFA) levels. Exercise and Aci are stimulators of GH secretion. We suppose that a negative feedback from increased GH levels during exercise may play a role in reducing plasma ghrelin levels. We surmised that altered baseline activity and exercise-induced activation of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) results in excessive stimulation of lipolysis associated with negative energy balance and may lead to abnormal AT metabolism in patients with BN. Disruption of the gut-brain-AT axis might be involved in the pathogenesis of BN. The...
Nutrition of the children playing football
Kocourek, Lukáš ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Kinkorová, Ivana (referee)
Title: Nutrition of the children playing football Objectives: The main objective of this thesis was to figure out the eating habits of the children in the U14 category of football players. Specifically, the observation was done for three days - a training day, a match day and a free day. It was also observed how these days different from each other. Finally the nutrition recommendations were provided based on the observations. Methods: The thesis was performed as the cross-section study. To gain the information about the nutrition habits there was used the standardized nutrition questionnaire. Nonparametric statistics methods were used for statistical data analysis. Results: Research was performed on the sample of 12 boys in the age of 12-13 years who play the football at the student league level. Students sample was chosen from the students in the Czech Republic. The insufficient energetic income and particularly a carbohydrate deficiency was identified in the sample. The highest deficiencies were measured during the match day. On the contrary the highest amounts were measured during a free day. There were not any significant differences identified in comparison to the recommendations. Conclusion: From the energetic and macronutriens income perspective the study did not confirm different incomes...

Impact of home- based physical training programme on values of pulmonary function test and aerobic exercise capacity of children with cystic fibrosis
Štefanová, Petra ; Plešková, Jana (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
This diploma thesis takes interest in the issue of physical activities of children with cystic fibrosis, in possible impacts of such activities on clinical condition, in options of prescription of physical activities based on the actual clinical state of a person with cystic fibrosis, and in options of objectification of changes induced by an exercise programme. The theoretic part of this thesis summarizes the current findings about cystic fibrosis, therapy and physical activities in the context of prognosis of patients with cystic fibrosis. In experimental part, we performed examinations on few participants, who were willing to perform a home-based exercise programme. Also, we made a short exploratory questionnaire focused on the attitude of children with cystic fibrosis towards physical exercises. Methodology: We observed the evolution of maximal oxygen uptake VO2max, forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC) and of the scores of 1- minute sit-to-stand test (1-MSTST). All the measurements were performed before and after 12- weeks long exercise intervention. The inclusion criteria were diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, age over 10 years, FEV1 over 60 % predicted and no present signs of an acute exacerbation. Participants were assessed by spirometry examination,...
Mezocyklu effect fundamental changes to the game condition with the progressive nature of the load for youth football players
Bujnovský, David ; Zahálka, František (advisor) ; Votík, Jaromír (referee) ; Zháněl, Jiří (referee)
EFFECT OF THE BASIC MEZOCYKLE TO CHANGE THE GAME CONDITION WITH THE PROGRESSIVE LOAD FOR YOUTH FOOTBALL PLAYERS The aim of this work was to find out whether the use of specific fitness acquisition models (Verheijen, Owen) is more effective as the use of a non-specific model (control group) in elite youth U17 soccer players and whether a player can be equally conditioned in a 4-week period cycle (Owen) compared to a 6-week cycle (Verheijen) or a conventional (non-specific) mesocycle. Methods: The sample consisted of 3 groups of 16 players (n = 48; Age = 16,02±0,78; Height = 178,6±9,8; Weight = 69±10,6; ECM/BCM = 0,8±0,13; FFM = 61,4±9,8). 39 players have completed the whole research and were divided into groups EXP1, EXP2 and KON. The EXP1 group underwent a Verheijen (2000) training program, where large interval games (LSG) also appeared. The sond EXP2 group underwent an intervention program according to Owen et. al. (2012). The third group underwent a training mesocycle with a classic model that was a combination of general and non-specific fitness training. This model consisted mainly of runs (non-specific preparation) and large forms of games at the end of practice. This third group functioned as a control group. Laboratory testing always took place in the Human Movement Laboratory (LSM) of the...
