Fylogeografie komplexu \kur{Phasianus colchicus}
Flora of southwestern part of Bohemian Karst
Synek, Michal ; Špryňar, Pavel (advisor) ; Kačmarová, Lucie (referee)
Since its begining in 19th century the floristic research in Bohemian Karst as a biogeographic region was not equivalent in all its parts. I was trying to collect informations about south-western part which is usually somehow overlooked compared to central or north-eastern part. Information include geological and klimatic definitions of the area as well as history of floristic research done here. Several studies we have from this area mention some interesting places with very interesting plant species. Still most of those localities aren't enough protected and are slowly (somewhere not really slowly) getting destroyed. The last part contains ideas and methodics for potential new mapping of flora in this area.
The Botanical Garden Teplice and its Use in Education at High School
Frolík, Svatopluk ; Hlaváčová, Lucie (advisor) ; Svobodová, Silvie (referee)
The main aim of the thesis was to create functional and practical worksheets that would be used on excursions by secondary school students to the Botanical Garden Teplice. Based on a study of secondary school textbooks, questions were created that repeated subject matter taught at the school, but also expanded it. The questions were incorporated into three types of worksheets dealing with phytogeography, outdoor exhibits and greenhouse exhibits. Guides were created for each type of worksheet to help the person accompanying students, who can be both an employee of the Botanical Garden or a teacher. The test versions of the worksheets were tried out on 131 students from four secondary schools during field trips. The results obtained by completing the worksheets were analysed to identify the shortcomings of questions. This and substantive comments by the supervisor led to an amendment of the questions that required it, resulting in the final version of the worksheets to be used for educational activities at the Botanical Garden Teplice. Keywords Worksheets, phytogeography, Botanical Garden Teplice, guide.
A taxonomic revision of the genus Callitriche in the Czech Republic
Prančl, Jan ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Hroudová, Zdenka (referee)
Callitriche (water-starwort) belongs among difficult and insufficiently known genera of the Czech flora. The presented work provides the first critical taxonomic revision of the genus in the Czech Republic, with information relevant also to the broader region of Central Europe. Morphological and cytometric investigation resulted in identification of six Callitriche species in the Czech Republic. The genome size of all six Czech representatives of the genus was estimated using flow cytometry. The hybrid C. × vigens Martinsson (C. cophocarpa × C. platycarpa) was found for the first time in the Czech Republic. An individual related to C. hamulata was found in the Tichá Orlice river, which has aberrant genome size and aborted flowers; further study of this taxon is necessary. Multivariate morphometric analyses of fruits and cultivation were used to check and define reliable distinctive features and an impact of phenotypic plasticity. Key to the identification of species (including the first key for sterile plants), its detailed descriptions and ecological demands were provided. Each species differ significantly from the others in genome size, morphological features as well as in ecology. The reproductive strategy has the main importance for ecology and morphology of the studied species. The distribution of...

Phylogeny, Phytogeography, and Taxonomy of Polar Oscillatoriales
STRUNECKÝ, Otakar
Morphological and phylogenetic diversity of 143 strains belonging to Oscillatoriales with focuson traditional genera Phormidium sensu lato and Microcoleus were studied. The 88 strains of Ph. autumnale, Ph. setchelianum, Ph. subfuscum, Ph. favosum etc., and M. vaginatus confirmed the generic identity with typical Microcoleus Desmazi?res ex Gomont. The necessary nomenclatoric transfers were realized defining the revised genus Microcoleus. Based on phylogeny and morphology the taxonomic revision of the Antarctic species Ph. murrayi (Lyngbya murray West & West) was implemented and the genus Wilmottia was established. The phylogenetic evaluation of morpho-species included in Phormidium group I (Ph. lloydianum and Ph. acuminatum Gomont) preceded the definition of species Oxynema thaianum spec. nova. The biogeography of Antarctic and Arctic strains of M. vaginatus (Ph. autumnale) based on 16S rDNA and ITS (internal transcribed spacer of the 16S rDNA -23SrDNA ribosomal operon) sequences and strain's morphology was evaluated. The comparison of polar and non-polar strains indicated that the Antarctic populations of M. vaginatus remained isolated from time of the isolation of the Antarctica from the Gondwana before ~31?45 Ma, whereas the transport of populations within Arctic is relatively frequent even at the present time. It was shown that the polar strains of M. vaginatus from the north and south polar areas were not identical.
The biogeography as a part of the teaching matter in basic schools
PELIKÁNOVÁ, Petra
Pelikánová P. 2009: Biogeography in education at secondary schools. MSc. Thesis. University of South Bohemia, Pedagogical Faculty, České Budějovice. 133 p. This diploma thesis presents summary of biogeography and world bioms themes and conceives biogeographical textbook chapter that includes also excercises and exam test. This chapter are addressed to pupils of secondary schools. It is based on analyses of geography and biology textbooks. This thesis also proposes incorporation and implementation of this topic to the tutorial of secondary schools.
