Changing Object Appearance by Adding Fur
Relativně velká množina technik použitých v této práci zahrnuje obrazy s velkým dynamickým rozsahem, metody extrakce 3D tvaru z obrazu, výsledky výzkumu vnímání tvaru a osvětlení a fotorealistické renderování.
Complex Animation in 3D Studio Max
Černý, Miloš ; Pečiva, Jan (referee) ; Přibyl, Jaroslav (advisor)
The goal of this project is to inform a reader about compact workflow of creating complex computer animation using 3D modelling and animation software 3ds Max. It guides him through the whole process from creating models, texturing and skinning them, to animation pointed at more difficult parts of the animation process. Beside the practical examples, this paper includes necessary theoretical explanation of particular problems. After reading this paper, the reader should be well acquainted with the compact process of creating the complex animation.
Human fur patterns and their evolution
Fischer, Jan ; Tureček, Petr (advisor) ; Hora, Martin (referee)
Human fur, although absent on the first sight, is one of human unique features. But the question is, what influences shaped it into its current state. First part ergo the loss of dense fur coat stands on two main hypothesis. The first one being increasing effectivity of sweating for active diurnal lifestyle and the second one being parasite avoidance. There are other hypothesis, although not as reputable. These are aquatic ape hypothesis and importance of fire use hypothesis. The second part are the remaining parts of human fur patterns, some of which even expanded, scalp hair, beards, eyebrows, pubic and axillary hair. Most of these are explained thru hypothesis regarding the importance of communication in expanding human societies but there are also some talking about typical mammalian hair function - environment protection. Scalp hair are mostly explained as health, beauty and individuality signal but it also probably had protective function. Beards as extremely sexually specific trade helped in competition between men although in more of a demonstrative way. They also played role in sexual selection. Eyebrows are irreplaceable in face recognition, emotion expression and they also protect an eye from sweat. Axillary hair preserves armpits and hosts an axillary organ useful in chemical communication....
The detection of thermal windows in fossorial rodents with varied sociality degree
VEJMĚLKA, František
Eight rodent species with fossorial activity differing in a number of characteristics such as ecology, climatic conditions, geographical distribution, or kinship were studied using infrared thermography in order to describe their surface temperature and its patterns. An attempt to describe the relation between surface temperature and varied social organisation in burrowing rodents was made.
Charakteristiky srsti podzemních hlodavců ve vztahu k jejich termální biologii
VEJMĚLKA, František
The relation of fur to the thermal biology of mammals was studied. Qualitative and quantitative (length, density and insulation volume) fur parameters of six rodent species with subterranean activity were determined. The explored species vary in many characteristics, such as ecology or kinship.

Role of FtsH proteases in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803
KRYNICKÁ, Vendula
This thesis focuses on the functional and structural characterization of FtsH proteases in Synechocystis PCC 6803. One of the aims was to determine localization and subunit organization of FtsH homologues in Synechocystis cells using GST and GFP tagged FtsH derivatives. The main result of the thesis is identification of two FtsH hetero-oligomeric complexes and one homo-oligomeric complex in Synechocystis cells. The large part of the thesis is aimed at establishing the role of the first hetero-oligomeric complex, FtsH2/FtsH3, in quality control of Photosystem II and at identification of a mechanism, how its substrate proteins D1 and D2 are recognized. Another part is dedicated to characterization of the second hetero-oligomeric complex, FtsH1/FtsH3, which consists of two essential FtsH homologues and which is here identified as an important regulatory element in maintaining iron homeostasis.
Phylogeny of fur characters in Felidae.
PAVLISKA, Petr
Phylogeny of several fur characters has been studied in the family Felidae. Fur characters were compared with other morphological, ecological and behavioral characters based on basic phylogenetic parameters (L, CI, RI). I detected character states for ancestor of specific well-supported clades (lineages) and described characters evolution in Felidae. Some basic fur characters were statistically analyzed for possible correlations with some ecological and behavioral characters
