Campaign of Cinoherni Divadlo in Ústí nad Labem - Framing Analysis

This thesis is a research of a case related to the theatre Cinoherni divadlo in Usti nad Labem, which happened in 2014. This case was about a conflict between Cinoherni divadlo and Usti nad Labem city councilmen. This conflict was reflected by the public in Usti nad Labem and other cities of the Czech Republic and the case was accompanied by various kinds of civic activism. Representatives of Cinoherni divadlo was making public statements about the conflict during the case and they was formulating their requirements and were trying to gain public support and mobilize public to join the collective action. This case of civic activism will be studied from the perspective of the framing theory. Participant's statements will be studied and for that will be used the framing analysis. There will identified diagnostic, prognostic and motivational frames, which were used by the represenatives of Cinoherni divadlo and how were the frames changing during the case. There will be also identified counterframes, which were used by the city councilmen in their reactions to the represenatitves of Cinoherni divadlo.

The media image of the fair trade concept in the Czech press

The thesis The media image of the Fair Trade concept in the Czech press examines media image of the Fair Trade business system in the most widely read newspapers Aha!, Blesk, Hospodářské noviny, Lidové noviny, Mladá fronta DNES, Právo and Sport. The aim is to find out whether newspapers report on Fair Trade in broader context and in which frames it is most likely presented. At the same time the thesis examines the extent to which newspapers inform about Fair Trade. There are two hypothesis formulated, one suggesting that the amount of articles referring about Fair trade has an increasing tendency and that articles do not address the issue in broader context. The answers to research questions and the validity of the hypotheses are examined through quantitative and qualitative content analysis based primarily on the framework theory. Deductive procedure using pre-formulated control questions is also used. The finding is that the newspapers most often present Fair Trade in economics frame followed by conflict frame and human impact frame. In addition, the thesis examines the presence of a critical frame, which is almost absent in the newspapers. The context is usually limited. Anti - corruption strategies of political parties ODS and ČSSD in the sense of individual and systemic corruption

The phenomenon of corruption has recently become a hot discussion topic of all political parties. Separate chapters, focused specifically on the fight with corruption, are implemented into the parties' political programmes. However, despite the demonstrated endeavour to fight corruption, it seems that solutions of this major issue keep failing. Theorists, who specialize in corruption issues, agree that in the Czech Republic, corruption has already become a systemic issue. That means that it is no more just a pathological behaviour of individuals within the official norms. Vice versa, corruption has already progressed into the stage, where it creates its own norms. Moreover, these newly created norms are stronger than the official norms, and, this way, it is the incorrupt behaviour, which is now perceived as pathological. Fighting systemic corruption obviously requires different tools than fighting individual corruption. Being collective players, political parties use framing to depict the problem so that the solution they offer seems to be the only and the best. Repertoire of Interpretative Frameworks of Help for the Victims of Domestic Violance

1 REPERTOIRE OF INTERPRETATIVE FRAMEWORKS OF HELP FOR THE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLANCE Abstract This thesis analyzes domestic violence theoretically and supports the hypotheses through empirical data. The Framing Theory is being widely used as a theoretical starting point and it is employed mainly to study the mobilization of social movements and organizations. A list of objectives of the theory is provided, usage of micromobilization processes is explained. This part concludes with a critique of the theory. A description of the current situation and solutions of domestic violence with a focus on the Czech Republic follows. The empirical component provides semi-structured interviews with three public sector professionals and two non-profit organizations, followed by an analysis of public statements of another non- profit organization. Both sectors perceive the current system as functional. They indicate the main problem is a lack of public awareness, including victims of domestic violence, and propose solutions to the problem. The disputes over the frames are hidden, and they are probably not realized by both of the sectors. The non-profit sector define the domestic violence more broadly and more about making change on a social level, not just individual.
