"Potápky", "Páskové" and Their Representation in Czech Culture
TRNKOVÁ, Natálie
This Bachelor thesis deals with the swing subculture of the so-called "potápky" and with the follow-up rock'n'roll subculture of the so-called "páskové". The thesis introduces their style (image, slang, performance, lifestyle) as an expression of certain shared life values (ideology). It discusses how these subcultures came into conflict with the official culture, the life style of their parents, or totalitarian power, as well as the way in which "potápky" and "páskové" were depicted in Czech culture. The work offers several possibilities for depicting revolting youth subcultures in Czech filmography, periodicals and also in literary works by Josef Škvorecký, who was among the leading representatives of Czech "potápky" and "páskové".

Klímová, Blanka ; PETRÁŇ, Tomáš (advisor) ; Brothánek, Adam (referee)
The starting point of my work will be a selection of films about Dracula. In this thesis, I would like to address the evolution in the representations of Dracula, from physical appearance to changes in the character, as well as the character development within the story.I want to look into this subject from a broad scope: Not only from the cinematographic context, but also from the cultural, historical and dramaturgical context. I'm interested in the evolution of the archetype of immortality in different cultural manifestations, from body embalming through sculpture, painting, photography to film. Furthermore, the thesis will study the reassessment of its symbolism, the phenomena of film remaking and the meaning behind the necessity for repetition and reinterpretation of the myth. This work should also ascertain when the reality becomes myth and why.My sources of information will not be only the selected films, but specialized literature by authors such as M. Eliade, B. Fořt and E.Fromm.

Film interperations of significant works in Czech literature
ŠAUFLEROVÁ, Petra
The aim of this diploma thesis is to discuss film interpretations of major works in Czech literature. At first I discussed with the question of literary work rewritten into a movie, I introduced the basic terminology and analyzed in detail the various elements of literary text. I also mentioned the specifics of literary and cinematic expression, individual adaptation approaches and I briefly stopped by the theory of hot and cold media. The next part of my work is devoted to narrative technologies and the figure of the narrator. There I introduced different opinions of literary theorists on this question. For the practical part of my diploma thesis I chose the representatives of each adaptation approach and then I analyzed them in terms of the credibility of literary text and the figure of the narrator.
