Microbial Forensics
Stejskalová, Pavlína ; Vaněk, Daniel (advisor) ; Šneberger, Jiří (referee)
Microbial forensics is a young field that emerged in response to the Anthrax attacks in September and October 2001, later known as Amerithrax. At this time, forensic microbiology aimed to analyze microbial evidence associated with bioterrorism and biocrime. With the onset of metabarcoding and the advent of new generation sequencing, it has been possible to extend the scope of forensic microbiology. Nowadays microbial forensics can be applied in environmental monitoring, forensic identification based on personalized microbiomes, study of the influence of microorganisms on corpse decomposition, investigation of sexually motivated crime, archaeological and anthropological investigations, interpretation of forensic toxicology results and in the clarification in cases of sudden death. Keywords: bioterrorism, B-agens, environmental monitoring, microbiome, identification, PMI, stability of forensic samples, sexome, SIDS
Design and Implementation of IoT for Monitoring and Control of Smart Homes
Smejkal, Jakub ; Rozman, Jaroslav (referee) ; Janoušek, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis deals with a generic design and implementation of an IoT system, specifically for a smart home. The thesis aims to compare existing systems and hardware solutions. In this thesis there are a few examples of hardware firmwares and a prototype of a software for controlling and monitoring. The selected problem is resolved by designing a general system for a smart home. As a sample implementation, the system will be created by using hardware devices from Czech company HARDWARIO and sensors from various vendors. It will contain some environmental sensors, motion detectors, etc. The implemented prototype of an application allows easy monitoring of the whole home in one place thanks to an uncluttered UI, which is fully customizable for the user's needs.
Ionizing Radiation Measurement in Field Robotics
Environmental Impact Assessment of the Atomic Power Station Jaslovské Bohunice
Ušáková, Diana ; Matějíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Přibil, Rudolf (referee)
The impacts of nuclear power are now very important component of the impact assessment of the energy industry on the environment. The first nuclear power plant, which was built in the former Czechoslovakia is nuclear power plant called Jaslovské Bohunice, which is located in the western part of the Slovak Republic. Environmental load, but compared with thermal power plants is much lower, since the nuclear power plant produces smaller amounts of emissions and greenhouse gases such as thermal power plant. The concentration of radioactive substances in the ambient atmosphere and hydrosphere is much lower than permissible limits. Dispersion of harmful radioactive substances, however, implemented a broad area. Bohunice nuclear power plant is equipped with a special system for processing radioactive waste and the management of it, which is a major advantage in the use of these technologies. The survey population around Jaslovské Bohunice concerned people of various ages who were mostly university education. The public, which the operation of a nuclear power plant directly relates to the earlier welcomed the development of nuclear energy in Slovak as the forced outage. The questionnaire revealed that much of the population does not have the necessary data regarding the management of radioactive waste. The...

A system for environmental monitoring of the Russian Vostochny spaceport
Mochalov, V. F. ; Grigorieva, O. ; Brovkina, Olga ; Potrjasaev, S.
The main objective of this study is to obtain a comprehensive assessment of the environment on the Vostochny spaceport’s large territory using remote sensing data. Time series satellite and airborne data enabled us to analyze the landscape elements that were under active construction. A methodology for comprehensive environmental assessment was developed and applied to the study area. The methodology included ecological zoning of the territory based on the degree of anthropogenic intensity using original software. The results showed that (1) the level of anthropogenic load increased by 21% from 2013 to 2014, (2) the environmental stability index area decreased by 21%, and (3) the relative tension index of the territory’s environmental situation decreased by more than 25%.
