Tipplová, Eliška ; Křivánková, Markéta (advisor) ; Hošková, Blanka (referee)
Title: Dysmenorrhea and conservative approach to affect painful menstruation - questionnaire survey Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to use a questionnaire survey to obtain information on how often painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea) occurs in women. Following this, an analysis of this data will be carried out in order to assess the possibilities of influencing and preventing painful menstruation using conservative methods, especially exercise. Methods: For the theoretical part of the thesis, a literature review was carried out. research from various sources, including the libraries of the Faculty of Physical of Charles University and the 3rd Faculty of Medicine Charles University, English-language articles, studies and university theses from databases Web of Science, Pubmed, and Theses.cz. The practical part consists of questionnaires survey and subsequent data analysis together with the results. Results: The results of my research indicate that out of a total of 576 respondents aged 15 to 30 years, up to 78 % of women suffer from painful menstruation, which indicates a high prevalence of this problem in this population. An interesting finding is that of the sample of 162 women taking contraceptives, 73 % still experience pain during menstruation, suggesting that contraception may not be a...

Dvořáková, Barbora ; Křivánková, Markéta (advisor) ; Hošková, Blanka (referee)
Title: Influencing of painful menstruation and associated back pain in university students using Ludmila Mojžíšová method Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effect of Ludmila Mojžíšová method on painful menstruation and the occurrence of associated symptoms. Methods: Research is conducted in the form of an experiment. The diploma thesis includes a theoretical and a practical part. The monitored group consisted of 8 female university students with painful menstruation, in whom the doctor ruled out a more serious cause of these difficulties. The practical part was focused on examining 8 weeks of exercise of the compiled plan together with other techniques according to Ludmila Mojžíšová's method for menstrual pain. The intervention consisted of 4 individual meetings and subsequent independent exercise for 8 weeks with a frequency of ideally at least 30 minutes every day. Kinesiology analysis, anamnesis taking and non-standardized Menstrual Distress Questionnaire were chosen as data collection methods. Results: For the evaluation of the practical part of the work, 4 hypotheses were established. For each subject, the effect of the chosen intervention was assessed through a visual analog pain scale, the MDQ questionnaire and a kinesiology analysis form. Hypotheses were...
Myofascial pain syndrome in the pelvic area
Hujová, Kateřina ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Langerová, Marie (referee)
Myofascial pain syndrome (MFBS) in the pelvic region is characterized by the presence of trigger points (TrPs) in the pelvic floor (PF) muscles and pain that is localized directly in the pelvis but simultaneously radiates to surrounding structures. This pain is often difficult to distinguish from internal complaints, which are often mimiced or accompanied by the pain. This bachelor's thesis addresses the subject of pain in the pelvic region and TrPs, which are related to myofascial structures, particularly PD. In the theoretical part, it aims to bring together the existing knowledge on MFBS with a narrower focus on the pelvic region and to present a comprehensive examination procedure and treatment options. The examination of PD in MFBS should be comprehensive, including history, palpation, dynamic tests and pelvic region specific tests. Therapy is initiated with manual techniques (MT), includes therapeutic physical education (TPE) methods to integrate the pelvis into global movement patterns. Training awareness of PD and the ability to relax it play an important role as well. The psychological side of the person should not be neglected, as pelvic difficulties are related to the intimate parts, in many cases reducing the quality of life and limiting the performance of daily activities. For five...
Physiotherapy in women with dysmenorrhea
POLENOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor thesis deals with the reduction or even elimination of pain or any other discomfort connected with menstruation while using physiotherapeutic methods. The aim of this thesis is to describe frequent functional disorders of the locomotor system for women suffering from dysmenorrhea. The theoretical part also includes information about anatomy and physiology of deep stabilizing system and female reproductive system. The second aim of this thesis - to create a workout plan for the patients - was achieved based on the functional disorders in every patient during initial kinesiology analysis. Women performed at home the suggested exercise for five months. An appointment was arranged with each patient once in two weeks. The patients regularly got new exercises from the workout plan and were checked out during these appointments. At the end of the research a final kinesiology analysis was performed, and it was compared with the information gathered during the initial kinesiology analysis. These differences are mentioned later in discussion, together with comparison of all information acquired during the research including the sources used. All women subjectively noticed lower intensity of menstrual pain at the end of the research. Their assessments differ. This thesis can serve physiotherapists but also the public, mainly women suffering regularly with menstrual pain. It can be an option of solution of their problem in a different point of view than pharmacological.
Utilisation of visceral manipulation in gynecology
Pochmanová, Lucie ; Michalčinová, Klaudia (advisor) ; Ježková, Martina (referee)
Visceral manipulation (VM) is a fine manual technique focused on manipulation with organs and their fasciae. Fasciae surround organs allowing their movement and connecting them. Their movement can be limited after surgery, stress, inflammation or as a result of a poor posture. By the using of VM, a therapist can locate and subsequently alleviate increased tension from parts of the body. The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis summarises the knowledge about the use of visceral manipulation in gynaecology. The practical part comprises case studies of four patients. These case studies are concerned with the use of physiotherapy with elements of visceral manipulation during the treatment of painful menstruation (Dysmenorrhea). Each case study contains the case history, initial and final kinesiological analysis and the description of the therapy and autotherapy. The length of the physiotherapeutical intervention was six months for each patient. Objective evaluation of the effect of the therapy was achieved by cooperation with the gynaecologist who examined the patients before the start of the physiotherapeutical intervention and subsequently after its end, i.e. after six months. The examination comprised hormonal profile analysis, ultrasound examination (to determine the position and size of the...

Zídková, Veronika ; Pánek, David (advisor) ; Malá, Jitka (referee)
Title: Effect of physiotherapy in patients with endometriosis Objectives: The objective of this thesis is to evalute the effect of a six-week physiotherapy intervention including manual and exercise therapy approach on the quality of life assessed by The Endometriosis Health Profile-30 questionnaire, on dysmenorrhea assessed by The short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire and The Menstrual Distress Questionnaire, and on the number of functional impairments of the musculoskeletal system asssessed by the kinesiological analysis of eight women with diagnosed endometriosis. Methods: The practical part is a pilot study evaluating the contribution of the six-week physiotherapy intervention in eight women with diagnosed enometriosis. The therapy plan was constructed individually to deal with the objective findings using the combination of manual and exercise therapy with the aim of decreasing the presence of functional impairments of the musculoskeletal system. To evaluate the effect of therapy, standartized qualitative questionnaires, The Menstrual Distress Questionnaire, The short- form McGill Pain Questionnaire and The Endometriosis Health Profile-30 were used as well as the kinesiological diagnosis form. The probands filled out the questionnaires on the first day of their menstrual cycle before and after...

Title: Dysmenorrhea and its possible treatment by physiotherapy Objectives: The aim of this thesis has been to assess the effect of simple feet exercises along with the practice of pelvic floor activation and relaxation on women struggling with dysmenorrhea. Subsequently, it also deals with the issue of whether the pelvic floor treat- ment per rectum together with the exercises is more effective than just plain exercising. Methods: This research has been based on an experiment. This thesis includes both a the- oretical part and a practical part. The methods used for the practical part are as follows: questionnaire (specifically Menstrual Symptom Questionnaire), simple feet exercises, ex- ercises used for the activation and relaxation of the pelvic floor as well as the pelvic floor treatment per rectum and final processing of the gathered data into statistics. Results: The menstrual cycle of every woman is completely individual and every woman perceives it quite differently. The result of the research was that simple feet exercises along with the practice of pelvic floor activation, relaxation and the pelvic floor treatment per rectum help women struggling with dysmenorrhea. We didn't discover any data that confirms whether the pelvic floor treatment per rectum, together with the exercises, is more...
Viscerosomatic relations in physiotherapy
KUKLOVÁ, Monika
The Assignment's aim is to clarify the definition of referred pain and the issues of viscerosomatic and somatovisceral relations. Relations between internal organs and the musculoskeletal system have been known for a long time, but in practice it is often overlooked even though in some cases there is a proven track of viscerosomatic equations and concrete reflection changes helping to set the right diagnosis and therapy. Also, it may be an internal problem that seems as a musculoskeletal issue, in that case a patient is sent for the rehabilitation that does not result the desired relief and pain remains. Therefore, it is needed to examine the internal organs and send the patient for further checks in order to find out the right diagnosis on time and overcome a significant damage to patient's health (for instance a late diagnosis of tumour disease). On the other hand, the patient may think their problem is internal, but after the thorough examination there is no evidence of such pathology. It results that the patient is perceived as a hypochondriac and/or their problems are psychosomatic. In that case based on the differential diagnosis, it is critical to consider the relations between the musculoskeletal and internal systems. If the root problem is caused in the musculoskeletal system, the right physiotherapy can result a desired relief of the patient and also help the internal problems. The thesis in a theoretical part elaborates on the definition of these relations and the referred pain. Furthermore, it aims to clarify the issue of visceral patterns and describe the most frequent diagnoses within viscerosomatic and somatovisceral relations and the possibilities of their treatment. Two case reports are presented in the practical part. The first case study elaborates on a patient with gastroesophageal reflux and the second case study is about a patient with dysmenorrhea.
