Two-point discrimination in adolescent patients hospitalized with anorexia nervosa
Kočí, Gabriela ; Stackeová, Daniela (advisor) ; Demeková, Júlia (referee)
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a mental illnes manifesting itselg, among other signs, with impaired body schema and rejection of food. Principal focus of the thesis was to assess the discrimination treshold, ability to evaluate sensory perception and body self-concept in adolescent female patients hospitalised with anorexia nervosa. Our goal was to clarify and better understand the still not adequately described neurophysiological aspects of anorexia nervosa. The results were compared to control group; both groups comprised 18 girls, the average age of observed group being 14,7 ± 0,71 years and average age of control group being 15,3 ±0,71 years. Two-point discrimination was examined in three areas - arm, between shoulder blades and belly - with modified caliper. The Petrie test was used in sensory perception testing, while body self-concept was measured with BAT questionare. The examinations were performed in standardised conditions during similar day times. We found significant difference in two-point discrimination in the area between the shoulder blades with significance level α = 5 % and p-value p = 0,0001. A statistically significant difference was also observed in body self-concept with significance level α = 5 % and p-value p = 0,017. Thus we conclude that patients suffering from anorexia nervosa...

Myofascial Trigger point and Two point discrimination changes in MTrP region
Homolka, Pavel ; Čech, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Strapková, Zuzana (referee)
The main purpose of this thesis, called The local changes in discriminatory sensation above a myofascial Trigger Point, was to assess the relationship of a local nociception in the form of the myofascial Trigger Point to the local discriminatory sensation. Based on the theoretical information, hypothesis concerning the relationship of MTrP and two point discrimination were experimentally checked. The subject of the research was the trigger point trapezius pars ascendens. Localized MTrP was clinically evaluated in terms of both static and dynamic factors. Using a palpometer, its sensitivity by level of pressure generated pain (pressure generated pain threshold) was rated. The quality of two-point discrimination was rated as well. Furthermore it was also rated how a made isometric relaxation changed the sensitivity as nociceptive so discriminatory. Discriminatory sensation (attention threshold (AT-TPD), stable threshold (SSV-TPD)) in the region above the trigger point was measured by a mechanical caliper with modified tips radius of 1mm. Generally 23 probands were examined, 11 of them had simultaneously diagnosed a presence of the constitutional hypermobility. The results of the work confirmed that the made isometric relaxation had a significant influence on the change of thresholds discrimination of two...
Two-point discrimination in patients with chronic vertebrogenic disorders
Homolka, Pavel ; Kolář, Pavel (advisor) ; Čech, Zdeněk (referee)
The graduation theses called "Discriminatory sensation of the patients suffering from chronic vertebrogenic complaints" disserts on experimental attestation of empirical evidences based on diagnostics and therapeutics of the patients suffering from chronic vertebrogenic complaints. There was experimental measurement based on a two - point discrimination method done with two groups of probands. In the first group of probands nobody suffered from the chronic back pain, eventually occipital joints. As far as the second group of probands concerns the structural changes were diagnosed in the axial skeleton area as well as changes of a functional character which caused long- term pain. The objective of the theses is to verify the validity of the empirical evidences, sum up a quality of the stereognostic functions (senses) of 20 individuals in chronic pain and 20 healthy individuals. The quality of the stereognostic functions (senses) was evaluated by measurement based on a two-point discrimination, on 8 spots of the human body, acrally and radikulary in dermatome C7 and L5. It is because roots of peripheral nerves are the most damaged nerves within upper and lower limbs in terms of vertebrogenic disorders. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
