Verbal Expressions of Reverence for St. John of Nepomuk in Vilém Bitnar's Saint-John- Questionnaire The goal of this thesis is a description of verbal expressions of reverence (legends, songs, prayers etc.) for St. John of Nepomuk in the Czech lands, which were collected by Výbor svatojanský in the questionnaire edited by Vilém Bitnar. This questionnaire was sent out to Czech and Moravian parishes at the occasion of the 200th anniversary of canonization of St. John of Nepomuk in 1929 and now it is deposited in the Literary Archive of the Museum of Czech Literature in Bitnar's estate. The mutual points in the questionnaire are seeked as well as regional specifics. These are situated into context of trends in religious life in the Czech lands in 1920s in general and also of relationship between contemporary Czech society and the Roman Catholic Church with reverence for St. John of Nepomuk. Bitnar's questionnaire is also situated into context of other Bitnar's scientific and publication activities. Czech Religious Song in the Liturgy after the Second Vatican Council

This thesis Czech Religious Song in the Liturgy after the Second Vatican Council focuses on the repertoire of songs contained in hymnbooks "Kancionál" (Hymnal), "Mešní zpěvy" (Czech gradual), "Hymny" (Hymns) and "Hymny a básnické modlitby" (Hymns and poetic prayers). Includes theological principles of songs, history of Czech spiritual hymns, analysis of the editorial approaches for songbooks and analysis of the hymns in relation to the requirements of the liturgical renewal documents. The thesis focuses primarily on "Kancionál" (Hymnal), "mešní píseň" (mass song) and singing a song of thanksgiving after Communion. The thesis evaluates compositional approaches for lyrics and music of mass songs.
The process of forming a song canon in 17th and 18th century hand-written hymn-books

This dissertation thesis follows on the contemporary research focused on the early modern manuscript culture. The thesis deals with the Moravian manuscript hymnals from the 17th and 18th century and with their repertoire. The manuscript hymnography is one of the richest sources for an understanding of the popular piety, the Baroque literature and the church music. Some of the hymnals are accompanied by musical notation and a large number of them are beautiful illuminated. However, they have never been made accessible through modern edition, and there are hardly any analytical studies concerning these hymnbooks. The opening chapter summarizes the existing research on the given topic. It is followed by the description of approximately forty manuscript hymnals. The next chapter concentrates on some specific qualities of the manuscript publication and focuses on the song repertoire. The third chapter further develops the general theses. It is devoted to four manuscript hymnals from the sixties and the seventies of the 17th century. The analysis of their writing, ilumination and repertoire proves the same author - Jan Klabík from Želechovice. Repertoire analysis of the hymn-book Kancionálek aneb Písně křesťanské

This thesis focuses on the analysis of anonymous Kancionálek (printed in Prague at K. F. Rosenmüller between 1712-1727). The thesis shows, based on survey sources, his relationship to other hymn-books and his possible sources (non-Catholic "litterati" hymn- book and other). Main part of the thesis analyzes the modifications of the old repertoire and overall concept of the hymn-book: purpose is to describe the editorial strategies for creating a small non-noted hymn-book for broad masses of people. The appendix consists of catalog of all the songs, that are included in Kancionálek.
Reprezentation of death and so called last things of man in Kancionál český of V. M. Šteyer

The submitted diploma thesis deals with representation of death and eschatology in the Kancionál český of M. V. Šteyer. This largest Czech Catholic hymnbook came out for the first time in the year 1683, and includes spiritual poetry not only to the second half of the 17th century, but also the creation of legacy. The hymnbook contains songs catholic and non-catholic provenance. For this reason theme of our thesis seems interesting. The aim of this thesis is to present a literary representation of death and so ? called last things of man in Kancionál český, taking into account the differences in their representation of the influence of the time of its formation and the origin of songs.
THE ANALYSIS OF TEXTS OF THE HYMN-BOOK "KANCIONÁLNÍK NEB PÍSNĚ KATOLICKÉ" (1639)

The theme of this bachelor's thesis will be the analysis of song lyrics in anonymous czech not notes spisitual songbook Kancionálník neb Písně katolické, that was edited from the initiative Jesuitical "Klatovské" college in Prague at 1639. Because there is going about hymn-book literary history almoust comletely neglected yet, it e the first necessary step of this work creating the inventory of song lyrics repertoire and data criticism all song lyrics (with using hymnografic inventory and database - especially inventory of M.-E. Ducreux and databases of Hymnorum thesaurus Bohemicus and Melodiarium hymnologicum Bohemiae(. One of the main task of this work will be answer question, if this hymn-book contain only repertior taken from previous hymnografic production, or if there are some songs for the first time. Finally, I would like to try to monitor other reception these "new" songs in the czech himnografic live early Modern Age.
Theology of Songs in the Selected Catholic and Protestant Songbooks

In this theses are compared the theological statements of religious songs which are included in the Evangelical Songbook and the United Hymnary (United Songbook of Czech and Moravian dioceses). First is given a short characterictic of both songbooks and then is compared the meaning and use of spiritual songs in congregational liturgy of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren and the Roman Catholic Church. Then the dogmatic confessions related to the particular clauses of the Catholic belief in each chapter according to the structure of Apostles' Creed are compared and documented by quotations from the songs of both songbooks. These statements are analysed in light of the historical conditionality, doctrine of both churches and above all in light of the oecumenical context. At the close of the theses are compared identical and diverse versions of the united songs included in both songbooks.

This work deals with analysis and comparation of three baroque hymn-books by authors Jan Amos Komenský, Jiří Třanovský and J. J. Božan. Hymn-book by JAK, Tranoscia Citharu sanctorum and Slavíček rájský are analysed according to their authors? creed and period context and they are compared according to their content and arrangement of their songs.
