The relationship between the occurence of a trigger point in the soleus muscle and the functional impairment of the SI joint and the possibility of their mutual influence
Judl, Jakub ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Nováková, Pavlína (referee)
Title: The relationship between the occurrence of a trigger point in the soleus muscle and the functional impairment of the SI joint and the possibility of their mutual influence. Objectives/Aims: The aim is to write a summarization of facts based on a literature research on the complex problem of the trigger point phenomenon with a regard to their etiology and work out a pilot study to verify the relationship between the TrP and stiffness in soleus muscle and the functional impairment of the SI joint in terms of reduced joint play in the ipsilateral lower extremity. The experiment, based on objective results, is to answer the fundamental questions of whether patients with functional impairment of the SI joint leads to the formation of a TrP in the soleus muscle on the ipsilateral limb, whether the eventual dry needle therapy of a TrP in the soleus muscle will remove the malfunction of the ipsilateral SI joint, and vice versa, whether if by restoring joint play in the SI joint by mobilization therapy will have an effect on the muscle tone of the ipsilateral soleus muscle and remove the TRP. Methods: The incidence of TrP and the level of muscle tone was tested on 8 persons with functional impairment of the SI joint. Two even groups were formed. The first group had both a TrP in the soleus muscle and...

BAKALÁŘSKÉ PRÁCE V AJ Author: Zuzana Bečvářová Supervisor: Mgr. Jakub Jeníček, Ph.D. Title: Dry needling in the therapy of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system Subtitle: Myofascial trigger points Abstract: This bachelor's thesis has a research character and concerns the application of dry needling in the therapy of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The objective of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive summary about the topic of myofascial trigger points, which are considered to be the most common cause of myofascial pain and dry needling, which presents one of the therapy options. A part of the topic summary is dedicated to the Czech legislation concerning the application of dry needling in the physiotherapy practice. The main objective of this thesis is to create a systematic research of clinical studies, which compare the efficacy of dry needling to standard methods of physiotherapy. The research includes 22 randomized clinical studies, which compare the efficacy of dry needling to manual therapy, physical therapy and a combination of physiotherapy methods. Some follow the inclusion of dry needling application into a multimodal program. The results of this research show that the effect of dry needling is at least similar or even better in comparison to the...
Myofascial trigger point dry needling
Halatová, Jana ; Čech, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Joachimová, Marie (referee)
The historical roots of dry needling go back to the fist half of the 20th century. According to huge spread of issues connected with myofascial trigger points in society, dry needling is together with other therapeutic methods more and more on the front burner all around the world. This bachelor thesis is theoretical and introduces dry needling as possible treatment of myofascial pain and myofascial pain syndrome. The first part is focused on characteristic of myofascial trigger points, in the next part is written detailed description of dry needling. Emphasis is put on explanation of mechanism of dry needling, its description, safety principles and possible contraindications. Different techniques, that can be used, and possible effects, including side effects, are described afterwards. Next part is devoted to case report of patient, who could be recommended for dry needling. In the annex is added schematic diagram, which describes possible proposal of procedure, when the dry needling is indicated. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
