Supervisor: PharmDr. Lenka Ťupová, Ph.D. Introduction: Hormonal contraception is a group of drugs used to prevent pregnancy. In addition, it is also used in the number of other indications, such as reducing the manifestations of acne vulgaris, reducing heavy menstrual bleeding, regulating the menstrual cycle or relieving premenstrual symptoms. Objective: The aim of the diploma thesis was to analyse and evaluate the consumption of all types of hormonal contraception in the Czech Republic in the period from 2008 to 2022 using data obtained from the database of the State Institute for Drug Control (SIDC). Methods: A retrospective consumption analysis was used for the evaluation. Consumption was evaluated based on the number of packages delivered to healthcare facilities in the period between 2008-2022. The obtained data were classified according to individual ATC codes and then compared according to established parameters, e.g. type of evaluated hormonal contraception or dosage form. The antidepressants focused in this work from the SARI, NDRI and RIMA groups are also used in the treatment of insomnia, smoking cessation, as support in weight reduction and in some psychogenic sexual dysfunctions. The goal of this work is to analyze the consumption of antidepressants from the SARI, NDRI and RIMA groups in Czech Republic. The data for this work were obtained from the database of the State Institute for Drug Control on the basis of mandatory reporting of the volume of drugs supplied by distributors to pharmacies and other medical facilities. Consumption was monitored in the period from 1.1.2008 to 31.12.2020. The DUR type methodology was used and consumption was expressed in the number of defined daily doses per thousand inhabitants per day (DID). Consultant: PharmDr. Eva Zimčíková, Ph.D Introduction: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors increase the available amount of neurotransmitter serotonin in synapses, resulting in their antidepressant and anxiolytic effect. Objective: The objective of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the consumption of SSRI antidepressants in the Czech Republic in the period from 01. 01. 2008 - 31. 12. 2018, based on the data on consumption from the State Institute of Drug Control (SIDC). Methods: The research consisted of a retrospective analysis of the SIDC database. The study included all approved SSRI in the Czech Republic. Drug Utilization Review was used in the thesis as a methodology. Drug consumption is calculated as the number of defined daily doses per thousand inhabitants per day (DID). The data on the number of residents was acquired from the Czech Statistical Office. Descriptive statistics and ATC/DDD methodology were applied. Results: The consumption of sertraline and escitalopram increased significantly during the period under review. Estimation of illegal drug consumption in Kazakhstan

Background: The republic of Kazakhstan is located on the "Northern Route" by which opiates are smuggled from Afghanistan to the Russian Federation and further into the European Union. For this reason, the state is under constant high risk of the drugs leaking to the local market, leading to drug abuse and related issues within the population. The drug situation in Kazakhstan is further complicated by the internal factor of the Chuy Valley which features the largest area of wild- growing cannabis in the world. The aim of this thesis is to estimate the consumption of cannabis-derived drugs and heroin in Kazakhstan based on the latest national and international reports and research. In terms of research, the thesis examines which organisations collect statistical information on users of illegal drugs and what methods are used to do so. Methods: the data analysis consisted of a secondary analysis of existing collected data through quantitative descriptive statistics and a qualitative analysis of individual international and national reports. Dual antidepressants are prescribed in treatment of depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, in pain therapy and insomnia. Besides that, there are trials to prove the efficacy of dual antidepressants in different indications. Generally, antidepressant consumption in the Czech Republic is increasing. The question is, what the real proportion of dual antidepressant consumption is. Objective: As the objective, dual antidepressant consumption was analysed. Methods: The consumption of antidepressants venlafaxine, duloxetine, mirtazapine and mianserin was performed in the period from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2018. The State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL) database was used. The data were described by descriptive statistics.
