Access to healthcare for third countries migrants in the Czech Republic

This Ph.D. thesis discusses the evolution and current situation regarding availability of healthcare for third countries migrants in the Czech Republic. In terms of methodology, the author has chosen a qualitative approach. The research design is a historical case study. The thesis uses a combination of "desk research" and empirical survey based on 56 in-depth interviews with migrants, healthcare providers and experts who come into contact with migrants during the course of their work. Based on the approach of historical institutionalism, the author is explaining policy of migrants' health insurance evolution in Czech Republic since 1993 till today. The author identifies the key events and the roles of particular actors within the observed "sub- system" of public policy. From the viewpoint of migrants and healthcare providers, the thesis also presents how the current institutionalised set-up of migrants' health policy transfers into the real access to healthcare for migrants. It also identifies the main barriers to health care accessibility and the consequences of possible health care unavailability. Accessibility to healthcare in Karlovarský kraj

This thesis is focused on the assessment of health care in the Karlovy Vary region in terms of availability of hospital equipment. Healthcare in the Czech Republic is undergoing fundamental changes, which primarily related to the aging population, the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and the related changes in the status of patients with pressure on public budgets. This leads to increased costs, which burdens the economy of hospitals, but also the entire health system. Health care providers and insurance companies must prepare for the increasing number of elderly and chronically ill population and the associated increasing health spending. Health expenditures are growing everywhere in the world and the main problem is mainly a lack of health care finance and skilled health workers. Investments in health and education and research among the most efficient yet. Indeed, only healthy people can work, create value and pay taxes. These problems have a long-term trend of continuous decline in the capacity of acute care. Healthcare fulfill a social function and stabilizing the company, but may also be the engine of the economy that is a major employer and purchaser of goods and services. Investigations in health care is possible, but only with negative effects on patients. Deficient management system can hardly continue. Professionals who deal with this issue, for several years calling for a detailed analysis of the availability of health services, and after a hierarchical structure of the state-controlled network of inpatient health care facilities. Without the political will and will not elaborate procedures to reform or to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in health care at any level.
The availability of healthcare in the regions of the Czech Republic

The graduation thesis focuses on the economics of health, particularly for medical factor -- the availability of healthcare. The aim of this thesis is to determine regional differences in availability of healthcare in the regions of the Czech Republic. The availability has been analyzed from a geographical point of view, therefore, on the basis of density of the network of health facilities. The objective is achieved by using statistical processing of data provided by ÚZIS ČR and ČSÚ. The thesis has been performed using the methods of statistical analysis, synthesis, comparison and deduction. In the provision of hospital care there were not found any more significant regional disparities. The availability of outpatient care was found that the availability of primary health care was from the 90th years pushed by ordination of professional specialists. In the availability of general practitioners there appeared some interregional differences. The worst availability was analyzed in the regions Středočeský and Ústecký.
Dostupnost zdravotní péče ve vztahu k nákladům na ZP v zemích OECD

Práce se zabývá zhodnocením dostupnosti zdravotní péče ve vztahu k nákladům na zdravotní péči v zemích OECD. Práce zahrnuje vymezení pojmu dostupnost zdravotní péče, její jednotlivé dimenze a faktory, které dostupnost zdravotní péče ovlivňují. Pro zhodnocení dostupnosti zdravotní péče jsou vybrána čtyři kritéria, která jsou následně porovnávána s celkovými, veřejnými a soukromými výdaji na zdravotní péči. Pro účely této analýzy je využito metody jednoduché regresní analýzy. Na závěr je uvedeno zhodnocení výsledků regresní analýzy a jejich interpretace.
