Letter of credit in international business

This thesis deals with the letter of credit and its position during recent economic crisis. In the first chapter the term "letter of credit" is explained and the main aspects of the letter of credit, its availability, the letter of credit process and the relationships among parties of this process are described. In the second chapter, the core of this work, the influence of the recent financial and economic crisis on the use of letters of credit is analyzed, as well as the attitude of banks towards letters of credit in the time of crisis.
Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes and Their Role in International Business

The objective of this thesis is to analyze the functioning of bills of exchange/promissory notes in selected areas of international business, with an emphasis on their security and credit functions. The subject of the first chapter is the introducing the parties involved in bills of exchange, then the specification of the essentials of this instrument and the description of the main effects resulting from the use of clauses. The core of this chapter is the analysis of bills of exchange transactions. The second chapter deals with possibilities of using this commercial paper in the following banking products -- documentary credit, documentary collection, discount credit and forfeiting. The last chapter is dedicated to the analysis of a blank bill, with particular emphasis on the risks connected with this security instrument.
Documentary credit in international trade

The thesis deals with a payment condition called documentary credit and its progress in reaction to development of information technology. The aim of this thesis is to explore and evaluate the possiblities of solutions to electronic presentation by documentary credits. After an initial description of documentary credit and the principles of its process follows the analysis of the rules for documentary credits published by International Chamber of Commerce. The second part of the thesis focuses on particular systems of electronic document presentation. The main aim of the thesis is to introduce potential alternatives to traditional paper based documentary credit.
International trade in accounting of a particular company

This thesis is designed as a comprehensive view of trading on foreign markets. It contains the fields of specifics and practices of the international trade, which the firms in this situation are forced to deal with. The work is focused not only on accounting procedures, even if they include a proportion of mainly practices, but also takes in the areas of taxation and exchange policy. In the practical part I gradually focused on various activities that the company deals with; not only in accounting, but also in the field of exchange and taxation policies or e.g. the obligations on public authorities.
Credit risk in export and methods of its hedging (illustrated on particular enterprise)

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to illustrate how enterprises deal with credit risk assisted by commercial banks. The thesis focuses on payment and hedging Instruments such as bank guarantee, documentary credit and documentary collection. The work is divided into three chapters and contains 13 attachments. The first part will be short introduction to different types of risks in international trade and namely credit risk. Second part is devoted to particular payment and hedging instruments. Last part is result of a research directly in the bank and illustrates the usage of these instruments in practical trade. It contains three cases, in which Slovak exporters, importers and suppliers used or were forced to use payment and hedging instruments.
The Bank Instruments for the limitation of credit risks

The thesis deals with the bank instruments for the limitation of credit risks. Namely, it concentrates on the documentary credit and the bank guarantee. The thesis includes the definition of credit risks and the general characterization of the mentioned instruments. It describes in detail, how these instruments work and according to which rules, it explains the important concepts connected with this problems, it offers the overview of particular types of these instruments and it discusses the advantages and disadvantages connected with their use.
Selected Aspects of the Use of Documentary Credits in International Trade

This diploma thesis deals in detail with the matter of amendments to documentary credits. The amendments are analysed in terms of their causes, subjects that may initiate their execution, and their process itself. Also analysis of respective articles of interpretation rules UCP 600 relating to credit's amendments is included. Prior to the above mentioned analysis of amendments there is a part regarding the term of documentary credit, its process, regulation and contemporary position in international trade. In the connection with credit amendments the attention is given to the techniques of their execution, namely through the SWIFT system. The subject of the last part of the thesis is the quantitative analysis of credit amendments on the example of the analysis of real transactions which are assessed from various points of view. Statistical analyses are carried out aiming at considering of the existence of the relation between the region of the credit applicant and the number of credit amendments and between the credit amount and the number of amendments.
