Dědičová, Sára ; Sládková, Petra (advisor) ; Malá, Michaela (referee)
Title: Bracing in the treatment of children with clubfoot Objectives: The diploma thesis aimed to introduce the issue of pes equinovarus congenitus (PEC) with a focus on conservative treatment procedure using the Ponseti method and to verify this procedure in practice. The secondary aim of the diploma thesis was to create a brochure for parents of children with PEC. Methods: The research method of the diploma thesis was a case study based on the real treatment procedure of a proband with pes equinovarus congenitus. The research included one female proband early after birth and started 4th day after birth. Conservative treatment by Professor Ponseti was indicated for the proband. The evaluation of deformity development was conducted using the Pirani scoring scale and goniometric measurement. The research was conducted from 2 December 2022 to 22 March 2023. Results: Goniometric examination revealed a reduced range of motion of dorsal flexion of 20ř at the beginning of the intervention. At the end of the research, dorsal flexion of 35ř was possible. Initial examination of the proband revealed a Pirani score of 3, out of a maximum possible score of 6. After a relatively short period, the score dropped to 0.5. During further measurements, the score dropped to 0 in all areas. Keywords: deformity,...
Use of the thermoplastic splints for the upper limbs operation in ADL due to the limited activity of functional capabilities
Rejmanová, Alžběta ; Nováková, Olga (advisor) ; Svěcená, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis aims is designing and practical testing of "small splints" by patients which have limited functionc of upper extremities due to damage or malfunction. The proposed "small splints" are designed to facilitate the completion of certain procedures of pADL. "Small splints" are made from thermoplastic material, which is convinient for such purposes as regards the properties of ductility, variability and customization options. This bachelor thesis presents proposals of "small splints" for personal hygiene, specifically for a toothbrush and self - feeding, with selected objects: a glass, a cutlery knife, a fork and a spoon. The last "small splint" is intended to graphomotoric with a specific focus on stationery. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is based on the analysis of scientific literature and deals with general functions of the upper limbs and causes of limited functions, splinting and assistive technology options. The practical part contains the research methodology, my target and formulation of research question. Three patients with limited function of upper limb were involved in the project. These patiens tried splints over a period of time and "small splints" were modified according to their individual needs. According to the...

Zíbarová, Tereza ; Čábelková, Alžběta (advisor) ; Dlouhá Maršálková, Alexandra (referee)
OF BACHELOR THESIS Title of bachelor thesis: Using progressive splints in cases of spastic paresis of upper extremity The bachelor thesis is focused on usage of progressive splints in cases of spastic paresis of upper extremity. It is quite a new method in curing of spastic paresis, which try to prevent shortening muscles and others structures. The text is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is to clarify the terminology regarding spastic paresis, its basic characteristics and types, clinical symptoms and brief survey of cure of the symptoms. The theoretical part follows with differences between splints and orthosis and more detailed description of progressive splints, which are used in cases of spastic paresis for prolonged static stretching. This part contains types of progressive splints, their usage, and how to work with them. In practical part the comparison of usage of this kind of splints and therapy of upper extremity. The aim of practical part was to summarize information about progressive splints and their using. For this purpose an instruction book was put together and it is as an appendix of the thesis. The book offers the instructions for usage progressive splints, and includes author's genuine photos, types of splints, their usage, components, size...
