Design and analysis of precast dapped-end beams

The doctoral thesis deals with the analysis of the dapped-end beam detail, in terms of theoretical modelling and practical design using the strut-and-tie method as well as experimental verification of the bearing capacity and the behaviour of the detail under load by means of load tests and subsequent numerical nonlinear analysis. A summary of known structural and static designs explored in the literature has been presented. In addition, the strut-and-tie method has been introduced as an appropriate tool for a consistent design of the detail, element or the whole structure. The theoretical basis for the method has been described, including the general methodology for design and analysis. Practical problems have been discussed, specifically those resulting from the known design of the analysed detail based on the German approach; its modification has been processed theoretically taking into account the practical mode of reinforcement. An experiment has been suggested with a view to verify the presented calculation procedure and the influence of the used ratio of vertical to inclined hanger reinforcement on the bearing capacity and behaviour of the detail under load. The experiment also included accompanying material tests of the concrete which were used along with the inspection certificates issued for the used reinforcement as a basis for the nonlinear finite element analysis. Based on the results, the presented design procedure can be considered safe. These results also imply that the chosen ratio of vertical and inclined hanger reinforcements has no influence on the ultimate bearing capacity within practical reinforcement, as it only influences the formation, development and final width of cracks. With the growing ratio of the inclined hanger reinforcement, the width and density of cracks decreases at all stages of loading. Owing to their limitations, primarily during the service state, it is recommended that the minimal inclined reinforcement should be used.
Methods for properties analysis of transmission lines

This work focuses on a search of available literature on the theory of transmission lines and verify the possibility of simulation processes on these lines using a suitable simulation program. Initially, for the introduction to the parameters and the phenomenon that characterize the line and are important for understanding the issue. These parameters are then measured and compared with traces from the simulation in program PSpice. In another part of the work, the reader is familiar with the basics of reflectometry and fault detection capabilities on transmission lines with the basic reflectometry methods TDR and FDR, as well as with other methods of OTDR, MSR, and PD-FDR. For the TDR, FDR and MSR methods were made experimental measurements with a view to determining the position of the various types of faults on the tested leadership.

The dissertation deals with impact of Second Vatican Council in attitude of the Catholic Church to World and it is illustrated in life of the Church in Czech countries in the course of communistic period, because of marginal differances between Church and World. Read the sings of times and aggiornamento are key concepts of Second Vatican Council. Main source are documents of Council and works dedicated to Second Vatican Council, what give us the most comprehensive information. Situation of the Church in the Czech countries from the point of view of systém of government, what effort to eliminate the Church, and response of the Church to it, what impacted reception of Second Vatican Council, and it is illustrated in thematic works and contemporary witness of communist regime. Generaly impact of Second Vatican Council find to reflection directed to situation of the Church and society and the ways, what Church choices for spreading of Gospel. In the Czech countries the Second Vatican Council encourage catholics to be active and take responsibility for civic society.

The Literary Reception of Max Picard's Works

The thesis treats the subject of how the work of Max Picard, Rainer Maria Rilke and Jan Zahradníček relate. Its unifying element is the motif of salvation, its negative and positive aspect. Picard, Rilke, and Zahradníček perceive the world overfilled with technology and become witnesses of dehumanisation of humans and the related destruction of speech. Their work mirrors this decomposition, but it alongside offers a positive counter movement, an alternative to the age of dominion of technology. A comparative analysis of the specific understanding of the two aspects of salvation also casts light on the reception of Max Picard in their work. The first part deals with the analysis of Heidegger's essence (Wesen) of modern technology (Gestell) and the possibility of alternative revealing (poiésis). It renders the transformation of a human beings and their relationship to things, a transformation diagnosed by Picard, Rilke, and Zahradníček in their work. It thus proposes a context for the observed motif of salvation. The introduction of the first part accounts for a treatise on the loss of a thing which is linked to the penetration of technology and on salvation consisting in paying heed to the inconspicuous state of affairs. The second part opens with the reception of Picard's book Hilter in Our Selves...
Zahradníček's Sign of Power

The aim of this thesis is to interpret Jan Zahradnicek's spacious poem The Sign of Power. The interpretation crystallizes around the motifs of dehumanisation (connected with Nietzsche's motif of nihilism and of the last man) of a man, the loss of a word, discontinuity, the loss of time, the human face, nothingness (specific Nothingness) and the possibility of salvation, connected with an awakening of the sight. There are two semantic lines essential for enlightening these motifs: Dante's Divine Comedy and Picard's works of the late 40s. Zahradnicek wrote The Sign of Power during 1950-1951, at the time of his intense work on the translation of Dante's Divine Comedy. The purpose of the first part of this thesis is to illustrate how strongly the Divine Comedy influenced the key motifs of The Sign of Power. The purpose of the second part of the thesis is to uncover a new semantic context for the interpretation of Zahradnicek's poem; the works of Swiss essayist, philosopher and poet Max Picard, which were of great importance for Zahradnicek's poem. I see the exposition of Picard's specific grasp of the key modern phenomena, which penetrated to Zahradnicek's poem, as the further objective of the work. The discontinuity of the development of language and the lexical system

The lexical system develops continuously – changes proceed as a part of the other ones. Sometimes user of the language doesn´t know a suitable lexical unit and he comes with a lexical inovation. So the reduplication of the system position happens. We find many such cases in the Czech language of the humanistic and baroque periods. The reason is the discrepancy between the overbrash develop of the communications occasions and the more limited communications possibilities.
