Large-scale rock portrayal using both hand drawing and digital cartography
Kiššová, Adéla ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Bláha, Jan Daniel (referee)
Large-scale rock portrayal using both hand drawing and digital cartography Abstract This paper describes creation of the larg-scale topographic map for Svatý Jan pod Skalou in the Czech karst. Detailed informations about rock formations had been obtained and the rocks were processed into hachures. Rock hachures had been made manually and then transformed to digital form. Operational objectiv is to get to know various styles of rock drawing (including žebříčková manýra, swiss style) in order to desribe practical aspects of drawing. These and other foundation materials (including airborne laser scanning data) are used for construction of detailed map of research location. Key words: rock drawing, topographic mapping, digital cartography
Hachures in Digital Cartography
Rohelová, Kamila ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Votoček, Michal (referee)
Hachures in Digital Cartography Abstract This thesis deals with the possibilities of creating hachures, especially slope and shadow, in digital cartography. First part focuses on utilization of hachures and its construction in classic cartography. The rules that should be observed by the mapmaker are described. In the next section are delineated the current possibilities how to create hachures in digital cartography. The existing algorithms are evaluated. On the basis of the rules and research of literature is designed own methodology. Emphasis is put on automation using digital terrain model. The work as well contains testing the algorithm on the real data. Key words: hachures, digital cartography, hypsography
Landslides, Scree and the Other Unusual Terrain Features in Topographic Databases and Digital Cartography
Šákrová, Michaela ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Kubín, Tomáš (referee)
Landslides, scree and other specific terrain objects in topographical databases and digital cartography Abstract Topographic maps capture detailed information about terrain. In traditional analogous way of creating these maps, understandable and illustrating cartographic symbology was used. However, certain spheres of symbology were modified with transition to digital topographic databases and digital cartography. Now they carry less information and are less illustrative. Main cause of this inaccuracy is imperfection of the cartographic software, which is unable to create appropriate symbology. This diploma thesis tries to solve aforesaid problem for some specific terrain objects as scree and landslides. These shapes are distinctive geomorphologic phenomenon in terrain, but they are often neglected as their occurrence in our territory is infrequent. Key words: topographic maps, digital cartography, scree, landslide, specific terrain object
Analysis of data sources for production of large-scale map of a small municipality
Fenclová, Karolína ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Jaroš, Jakub (referee)
Analysis of data sources for production of large-scale map of a small municipality Abstract The aim of this thesis is to acquire, evaluate and eventually adjust the available spatial data, which are suitable for production of large-scale maps. The main task is to collect the data, describe them and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Attention is focused on datasets covering the territory of Bohemia. The practical part of this thesis covers the municipality of Tetín in the district of Beroun. It is a complex work, which is composed of an evaluation of the existing cartographic production, designing a suitable symbology and a production of a first detailed map of the municipality. The first part of this thesis evaluates the already existing cartographic production, using the method of verbal non-quantified assessment with a focus on the content of the map. The next part describes various data sets, their origin and accuracy. In cases of datasets collisions there is a suggestion of a solution presented for each case. The main result of this thesis is a clear overview of a preparation of all the data in GIS, a list of weaknesses and errors which were encountered in the data, a creation of a new hypsography and an update of the spatial data for the municipality of Tetín. The created map is the first...
Karst Phenomena in Digital Topographic Databases and Digital Cartography
Štysová, Lucie ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Šára, Pavel (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to provide a complex overview of the selected karst phenomena from the perspective of topographer and cartographer. The first part is devoted to introduction of karst phenomena from the viewpoint of geomorphology a hydrology, their characteristics and features, which play a key role in topographic mapping and with an emphasis put on the specific conditions of Czech Republic. Second part of this thesis is aimed on karst phenomena in the ZABAGED digital topography database and their representation in topographic maps. Also the Geonames database is introduces. Followed by an in-depth search of karst phemomena representation in foreign digital topographical databases nad their representation in large and medium scale topographic maps. The practical part is devoted to designing a representation of selected phenomena for ZABAGED and Geomanes including recommendation regarding its issues with emphasis on the use of the current JESO database and demonstrative filling of designed layers with real data. Also a cartographic representation of selected karst phenomena for large and medium scale topographic maps was designed.
Waterfalls in Digital Topographic Databases and Digital Cartography
Pánová, Pavla ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Skalický, Filip (referee)
Waterfalls in Digital Topographic Databases and Digital Cartography Abstract The purpose of this work is to apprise a user with basic types of waterfalls and opportunities to improve information about them, especially to improve the ZABAGED database and a representation of The base map 1 : 10 000. The sectional purpose is to describe the waterfalls worldwide and their representation in foreign databases and maps, and a possibility to apply these findings for the Czech Republic. There will be presented a draft for automated creation of a cartographic presentation of the waterfalls and rapids for medium scale topographic maps, especially for The base map 1 : 10 000. There will be demonstrations of representation of the waterfalls from foreign and Czech sources as a supplement. Keywords: waterfalls, rapids, digital topographic database, digital cartography
Simplification the Digital Terrain Model based on TIN representation
Pancová, Iveta ; Bayer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Potůčková, Markéta (referee)
The Generalization of the Digital Terrain Model Based on the TIN Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the up to now way and the possibilities of the digital terrain model generalization based on the TIN (the triangulate irregular network). New suitable way of the generalization of the digital terrain model procured from laser scanning data is proposed on the base of the existing generalization methods designated for digital models. Laser scanning data is characterized by a high areal density so the basic requirement is computing speed, maintaining the terrain features, such as a ridge, valley, steep hill, saddle, depression … and so on. The proposed algorithm is compared with the results of suggested algorithms and results from the generalization by the geographic software, such as Atlas DMT and ArcGIS.
