Free schools and its application on contemporary education

I deal with the democratic school term in my diploma thesis. I clarify the term, I present few of the democratic schools and critical pedagogy. My goal is to highlight the qualities of the democratic school and demonstrate the arguments for considering it as equal and adequate to classical education system. I highlight the importance of attention and financial support from MŠMT for the democratic schools. Few of the democratic schools and the movements were inspired by the concept of independent british boarding Summerhill school and his founder Alexander Sutherland Neill. I will describe pedagogical principles of A. S. Nell and the history of Summerhill school in my thesis. Partial goals are to clarify in what extant and how were employed the principles of Summerhill school in schools in the Czech republic; and how can be the pedagogy of A. S. Neill followed in Czech settings. I will decribe my own point of view on the schooling and teaching. I will compare them to several schools, e.g. Scio school, Ježek bez klece school, Neškola, Sudbury Valley School, Neue Schule etc. after that. I will address the terms unschooling, democracy and boarding school. I employ a method of comparison, analogy, analisis and synthesis.

Origin and developement of Scioschools

The Master's thesis deals with origin and development of ScioSchools. The theoretical part explains the key concepts. It points to the issues associated with the transformation in education in the world and in our country. Introduces the concepts of alternative, innovative and democratic school. It briefly characterizes the best-known representatives of these types of schools - schools of reform pedagogy, religious schools, modern alternative schools, democratic schools Summerhill and Sudbury Valley. It describes the establishment of ScioSchools, their gradual expansion and introduces the founders. It focuses on main characteristics of ScioSchools with the primary attention on pedagogical principles and values. It explains also the role of guides and the process of their recruitment. Last but not least, the theoretical part describes the cooperation and sharing in the school environment while introducing some of the methods applied. With the use of quantitative and qualitative research the empirical part analyses the collaboration and sharing among ScioSchools with regard to their gradual development. Education at totality- oral history and literature

The theme of the work " Education at totality - oral history and literature" is the comparison of written literature and other sources with specific testimony of a man who was educated at totalitarian regime from primary school to postgraduate studies. It is based on the assumption that childhood experiences are what leaves a deep trace in man for the rest of his life. The main goal of the paper is to explain the formation of children's consciousness and consequences associated with it. An important role in this period occupies school. For a comprehensive view, therefore, the work is divided into four parts. The first part is devoted to general psychological aspect of totalitarianism and democracy. The second part is devoted to transform education after the onset of a totalitarian regime to power. The third part concentrates on the period of consolidation of the totalitarian regime in Czechoslovakia. The fourth part focuses on the specific testimony of the respondent.
