Monitoring equipment of degradation processes for material of animal origin

The diploma thesis introduces the reader to the problems of chemical sensors and the basics of degradation processes in materials of animal origin. It describes some types of sensors and their principles. Atmel ATmega328 microprocessor, its parameters and programming are described. In the next part of the thesis there is a proposal and production of equipment for monitoring of degradation processes in materials of animal origin. Sample sof chicken and milk were mesuared. From these measurements, the gas concentration values were determined, where samples can be considered suitable for consumation.

The focus of this bachelor’s thesis is treatise on processes of contact failures of bearings and theirs materials analyse type of degradation processes of material, contact fatigue strength and means of metering. In fine of bachelor’s thesis are given development of future tendencies in optimalization of bearings.
The effects of ionizing radiation on semiconductor devices properties

This master’s thesis deals with the problematics of influence of ionizing radiation on semiconductor devices and their properties. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the different types of radiation that can occur in the areas of application of these components. In the second part, the degradation processes are explored, with emphasis on the influence caused by the radiation dose. Also, the displacement damage and SEE effects are described, but just slightly, because they are not part of this work. The third part describes the device design process and harmful effects, that have to be considered during the design phase. In the forth and the fifth parts of this work were done modeling of radiation effects (influence of dose rate, Single-Event Upset and Total Ionizing Dose) in PSpice program and was carried out the possibility of designing a simple dosimeter with silicon diode. In conclusion, the results of the thesis are summarized and evaluated.
The application of legal standards in materials engineering

The thesis describes points where the basic universal prescriptive system of law interferes with the questions of materials engineering. The main part of the thesis concerns legal liabilities, mainly civil liability represented with liability for defects. Basic analysis of chosen topics concerning liability for defects is done, defects are divided into groups as far as both technical and legal point of view is concerned. Consequently, the most common methods, principles and tests used for recognition and assessment of materials characteristics, both destructive and non-destructive, are described. Chapter, which deals with degradation processes follows. Integral part of the thesis are thoughts of possible types of legal liabilities, which could be important for materials engineers, with basic recommendations for contracting, as well as chosen problems connected with judicial proceedings and out of court settling of disputes. Technical standards are described with high attention, because both technical and legal public is not familiar with the legal background of technical normalisation.
Creation of a web application to select polymer materials based on mechanical properties for 3D printing

This diploma thesis deals with 3D printing with a focus on the FDM method. Main objective of the thesis is to develop a web application which would assist in the selection of suitable polymer materials for FDM print, based on the required mechanical properties. The web application was created in Python with the usage of Flask framework and MySQL database. In order to develop this application, it was necessary to create an overview of material properties, mainly mechanical parameters and degradation mechanisms. Subsequently, testing in a climatic chamber was done, and also hardness and tensile tests for degraded samples. The collected data serves as the base of the understanding how given mechanical parameters may affect selection of the polymer material. The thesis then offers a practical instrument to help choose right material for FDM printing projects.
Decay of granites used for ashlar masonry in arch bridges

This thesis deals with the decay of the granite used for ashlar masonry in arch bridges. The aging process and the functionality decrease of the granite tend to be faster in building structures than in natural conditions. Therefore, this ongoing change need to be closely researched. At the beginning, the thesis is focused on general degradation effects on building stone, which can cause for example the reduction of material or finally its damage and destruction. Further, the character of the granite is analysed with the respect to its quality and resistance to negative influences. In this chapter, this thesis also deals with the classification of granitic rocks according to the composition and the structure, which determine the specific name of the rock. Finally, the granite stone is also used in the constructions of arched bridges as their supporting elements, namely vaults and pillars. This type of construction has been widely used in the past. One of the subchapters focuses on the case study of the Legií bridge in Prague, which is a stone arch bridge made of granite blocks. In particular, the author describes the analysis of the sample, which was processed in the petrographic laboratories at the Faculty of Science of Charles University.
