Ulmanová, Alena ; Novotná, Klára (advisor) ; Rodová, Zuzana (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Alena Ulmanová Supervisor: Mgr. Klára Novotná Ph.D. Consultant: Mgr. Eliška Rotbartová Title: Work integration options in people with multiple sclerosis: influence of symptoms and other comorbidities Abstract: This theoretical-practical bachelor thesis focuses on the impact of multiple sclerosis symptoms and other comorbidities on the employment of people who are dealing with this diagnosis. The thesis aims to find out what are the main difficulties that limit the ability to work of people with multiple sclerosis, using a questionnaire of work difficulties called Multiple Sclerosis Work Difficulties Questionnaire (MSWDQ-23). The importance of this aim is based primarily on the fact that the disease mainly affects young adults in productive age, for whom employment tends to be an essential part of life and the difficulties associated with reduced work capacity can negatively affect their financial and social situation, but also their general physical condition. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the knowledge on the given issue using the current foreign and Czech literature. In the practical part, quantitative research based on a questionnaire survey is used. A standardize questionnaire called MSWDQ- 23 is used, which comprehensively assesses the work difficulties...
Psychiatric comorbidity in the context of family factors in ADDA patients with a primary addiction diagnosis
Slopovská, Hana ; Jandáč, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kulhánek, Adam (referee)
Background: Psychiatric comorbidity means the concurrence of an addiction diagnosis with one or more psychiatric diagnoses in a given individual. Psychiatric comorbidities are one of the frequent complications not only in children and adolescents, and the family background can also have a major influence on their emergence and development. Aim: The aim of the thesis is a more detailed description of the occurrence of psychiatric comorbidities in the pediatric and adolescent outpatient clinic of the Addiction Clinic (ADDA) patients with a focus on family factors that may be related to the occurrence of dual diagnosis in the given population. Methods: ADDA patient data, which comes from two sources (FONS and the SAL questionnaire), will be used to process the research, which will then be matched and anonymized. Correlation analysis will be used to analyze the data. Results: The study, which took place in the years 2015-2021, included a total of 157 respondents aged 8-18 with a primary addiction diagnosis. There were a total of 61 children with psychiatric comorbidity. The most frequently present comorbidity was hyperkinetic disorder (15,3 %). A total of 14 % of families from the total group and 11,5 % of children with comorbidities are at risk of addiction. Conclusion: According to the results of our...
Developmental coordination disorder and use of MABC-2 assessment for evaluation of children 3-10 years old with consideration of term of birth and birth weight.
Ducháčková, Iveta ; Kraus, Josef (advisor) ; Zounková, Irena (referee)
The bachelor thesis entitled "Developmental Coordination Disorder and Use of MABC-2 Assessment for Evaluation of Children 3-10 Years Old with Consideration of Term of Birth and Birth Weight" deals in its theoretical part with the latest knowledge on the prevalence of the condition, possible aetiologies, diagnostic aspects, clinical picture, comorbidities and therapeutic strategies. In the practical part, the motor skills of 52 typical children were assessed using the MABC-2 test. The children were categorized based on their birth term and birth weight, specifically into those born at full term and those born preterm, i.e. before the 37th week. The aim of the practical part was, firstly, to compare the results obtained and, secondly, to determine whether correlations exist between birth term, birth weight, and the MABC-2 test results. While statistically significant correlations were not demonstrated in the tested subjects, noticeable differences in mean values of all three MABC-2 components and the total MABC-2 test score were observed.
Epidemiology, comorbidities and quality of life in patients with psoriasis
Hugo, Jan ; Gkalpakiotis, Spyridon (advisor) ; Kodet, Ondřej (referee) ; Slonková, Veronika (referee)
Psoriasis is a complex systemic disease included among the Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases (IMID). Although not life-threatening in itself, it has a dramatic impact on patients' quality of life and is associated with a risk of developing a number of comorbidities. Therefore, considering that it is one of the most common chronic dermatoses, affecting more than 100 million people worldwide, the WHO has designated psoriasis as a major global health problem. The goal of the treatment is to get the disease under long-term control, to achieve the fewest visible manifestations and minimal activity of new ones, while in patients with severe psoriasis, systemic therapy is necessary. However, this has been very difficult for a long time, because conventional systemic therapies were often not sufficiently effective, and due to side effects and the need for frequent laboratory tests, they were also not appropriate for long-term administration. Nevertheless, intensive research and a better understanding of the aetiopathogenesis of psoriasis have led to the development of targeted biological therapy, which represents a significant advance in both efficacy and safety. But it is a new therapy, so many questions are not yet answered, especially with newer generations of biological therapy. Therefore, our work...
Chronic Inflammation and Metabolic Syndrom in Patients with Psoriasis
Vachatová, Simona ; Ettler, Karel (advisor) ; Vašků, Vladimír (referee) ; Tichý, Martin (referee)
Psoriasis is a chronic recurrent inflammatory disease. Genetic and immunological factors are involved in development of psoriasis. Psoriasis is associated with numerous comorbidities including metabolic syndrome (MetS). Adipocytokines produced by white adipose tissue may be involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Adipocytokines could serve as a missing link in the association between psoriasis and obesity/MetS. The most important adipokines include adiponectin, leptin and resistin. Adiponectin is expressed by adipocytes and has a high anti- inflammatory potential. Leptin is a protein produced in adipose tissue and is an important part in regulating energy metabolism. It has a pro-inflammatory effect. Polypeptide resistin is produced by macrophages and monocytes of the visceral adipose tissue. It was named for its ability to induce insulin resistence. Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is also product of macrophages, that can be served as a marker for cardiovascular risk. Increased smoking rates in patients with psoriasis is associated with their reduced quality of life. In addition, smoking of tobacco cigarettes is closely associated with MetS: smokers have an increased risk of MetS. Between psoriasis and smoking has also been demonstrated a direct link. Smoking is a well-recognized cause...
