Teacher versus modern technology in classroom - the cognitive study

The thesis deals with a teacher's attitude on modern technology during educational processes and what influences these technologies bring into educational processes. The aim of this thesis is to explore current school environments and also a teacher's judgement and relations to technologies. Inspiration for this thesis was the Edwin Hutchin's research (1995), who was exploring the working process on a U. S. Navy ship. This author concentrated on a human's cognition, which is distributed through the common activity among the members of crew and tools which are used. If the members of crew make mistakes by using tools or the conditions are not fulfilled for work with them then these tools could not be used correctly. The theoretical part focuses on defining professional pedagogical terms however afterwards it describes characters of teachers and their specifics. Eventually, it compares school institutions with the technological system. The practical part includes my qualitative research through observations and following interviews with high school teachers to find out their opinions on modern technologies. Anthropological series: cognitive and semiotic models of culture

ANTROPOLOGICKÝ SERIÁL - Kognitívne a semiotické modely kultury Abstract /english version/: The author of the thesis has developed a methodological framework of visual anthropology by collecting relevant information concerning the subject and by verifying this knowledge practically in an authentic living environment. This interconnection represents the main twist in the methodology, which turns away from the informative and interpretative version of ethnographic (anthropological) film and moves towards its functional, socio-cultural analysis. The subject of the thesis is an interdisciplinary research and possibilities of applying cognitive and semiotic analytical schemes into the process of directing an anthropological series. The entire project of an authentic ethnographic research and the film tumenge (I., II., III.) attempt to display the interethnical relations in the village Palota in the North-East of Slovakia, particularly bringing the life in the local Roma settlement and its individual members into sharp focus.
