Physical interpretation of special solutions of Einstein-Maxwell equations
Hysteresis behavior of shocks in low angular momentum flows
Suková, Petra
In this work we present the GRMHD 1D simulations of accreting matter with variable angular momentum. We focus on the existence and behaviour of the shock in the flow. We show that the location of the shock front responds to the change of the angular momentum, which also causes the accretion rate onto the black hole to vary on different time scales. We study the possible hysteresis behaviour of the shock\nfront during the time evolution of the flow. We discuss the potential observational effects of this phenomenon.
Gravitational collapse of scalar field
Šípka, Martin ; Ledvinka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Scholtz, Martin (referee)
In this thesis we study a critical collapse of a scalar field. We follow the work of [1] and create detailed and easy to understand figures and images describing the results and the phenomena observed during our calculations. We also try to give a detailed look at numerical methods used along with two ways of convergence testing. 1
Astrophysical processes near a galactic centre
Hamerský, Jaroslav ; Karas, Vladimír (advisor) ; Kulhánek, Petr (referee) ; Janiuk, Agnieszka (referee)
An accretion torus is an important astrophysical phenomenon which is be- lieved to account for various features of mass inflow and release of radiation on diverse scales near stellar-mass as well as supermassive black holes. When the stationary torus is perturbed it starts to oscillate and once some part of the torus overflows the closed equipotential surface, defined by the stationary solution, this material is accreted or ejected. These oscillations reveal both spacetime properties and the intrinsic characteristics of the torus model. We study the oscillation and accretion properties of geometrically thick accretion tori using general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulations. Assuming axial symmetry these simulations are restricted to 2-D approximation. We discuss the impact of the presence of the large scale magnetic field and the profile of the specific angular momentum on the oscillation properties and on the accretion flow motion. 1
Quasilocal horizons
Klozová, Eliška ; Svítek, Otakar (advisor) ; Scholtz, Martin (referee)
In this thesis we discuss drawbacks of the event horizon which is defined glo- bally in spacetime and we introduce a quasilocal definition of black hole boundary foliated by marginally trapped surfaces on which the expansion of the outer null normal congruence becomes zero. List of different types of quasilocal horizons follows, i.e. apparent horizon, trapping horizon and isolated and dynamical hori- zon. Subsequently we calculate and analyse quasilocal horizons in two dynamical spacetimes which are used as inhomogeneous cosmological models. We discover future and past horizon in spherically symmetric Lemaître spacetime and we come to conclusion that both are null and have locally the same geometry as the ho- rizons in the LTB spacetime. Then we study Szekeres-Szafron spacetime with no symmetries, particularly its subfamily with β,z ̸= 0, and we derive the equation of the horizon. However, because of the lack of symmetries the spacetime is not adapted to double-null foliation, therefore we were unsuccessful in our attempts to estimate the equation's solution. Only in a special case when the function Φ does not depend on the coordinate z we found a condition on the existence of the horizon, that is Φ,t Φ > 0. 1
Geodetic structure of multi-black-hole spacetimes
Dále též shrnujeme situaci v případě nestatického vesmíru, kterou popsali Kastor a Traschenová v roce 1992, a tuto geometrii srovnáváme se statickou verzí. 1
Magnetic field in the Galactic centre
Hamerský, Jaroslav
In the present work we study the properties of accretion tori orbiting black hole. Our approach to this problem comes from the solving of general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic equations, which follow from conservation of the energy-momentum tensor, the particle number and from Maxwell's equations. We solve these equations by numerical methods which are described in Chapter 1. The formalism of tori which we consider here is described in Chapter 2. We are interested in tori with constant density of angular momentum and Fishbone-Moncrief tori mainly. We study accretion rates in these tori when the mass of black hole is increased suddenly and so the equilibrium in the torus is corrupted. For tori with constant density of angular momentum we study the influence of the presence of toroidal magnetic field on accretion rates.

Polarization vector transport in Kerr geometry
Bursa, Michal ; Horák, Jiří ; Karssen, G.
In this paper the authors proved a set of practical formulae that are helpful in calculating the orientation of polarization vectors that are parallel transported from a region of strong gravitational field of a Kerr black hole to a distant observer.
Mathematical Methods and Exercises in Astronomy
BROM, Jiří
The aim of this thesis is to create collections of examples for the subject Astronomy taught for students of pedagogical faculties, studying this discipline as a part of physics courses. Due to very different mathematical knowledge of students I have chosen typical and not much difficult examples oriented to several branches of astronomy. Each part of examples begins with a self-contained theoretical introduction. The difficulty rises gradually from trivial to more complicated examples. The examples are mainly focused on motions in radial gravitational fields.
