Assisted Custody in the Process of Foster Care
MOULÍKOVÁ, Dita
The bachelor thesis is focused on the service of assisted contact in the process of foster care. The aim of this thesis is to find out how the assisted contact service is used in organizations accompanying foster families in the South Bohemian region. Based on the study of theoretical data, the research question is "How do social workers in the South Bohemian Region perceive assisted contact?" This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical or research part, while the theoretical part includes a description of forms of substitute family care, an explanation of the child's contact in foster care with the biological family and defining the assisted contact service. The practical part is based on qualitative research. The method of questioning, the technique of semi-structured interview, was used for processing. A total of five interviews were conducted. The interviews were conducted thanks to social workers involved in accompanying the foster parents, who were selected as a research group based on a deliberate selection method. The results were evaluated using open coding. The results of the interviews show that social workers providing the assisted contact service in the South Bohemian Region have a predominantly positive attitude towards the assisted contact service and therefore perceive it as beneficial. The results of this bachelor's thesis can be used as a study material for students or institutions dealing with the issue of accompanying foster families, or for future applicants for foster care.
Drama therapy with stepfamilies
Veličková, Silvie ; Valešová Malecová, Barbara (advisor) ; Šiška, Jan (referee)
My bachelor thesis deals with the problem of restored families, where the child lives with biological parent and the step one. There are mentioned situations previous to setting up such families and the problems the family members have to face during their coexistence. Another topic of my thesis is the drama therapy. This kind of expressive therapy works with dramatic procedures that can be applied to a wide range of problems. These procedures could be found in psychotherapy as well as in special pedagogy or other fields. Theoretically, it mentions the modality of work with drama therapy through its techniques and means. The theoretical part containing the exposure of the both topics is followed by the section in which the author tries to apply drama therapy techniques to selected problems in restored families. There are presented specific examples and exercises, and last but not least is pointed out what can be influenced or improved, if applied in the therapeutic process of the restored family.
The Process of Adopting a Stepchild throught the Eyes of the Stepparents in the Czech Republic
Kočárníková, Tereza ; Vágnerová, Marie (advisor) ; Procházková, Jana (referee)
This thesis deals with the process of adopting a child through the eyes of step parents in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, with the help of external sources, it explains the current substitute family care with its conditions in the Czech Republic. More emphasis is put on the conditions of an adoption, legal release of a child, mediation of an adoption, and lastly the steps that lead to a child adoption in the Czech Republic. The practical part is written with the help of data acquired from a qualitative research with adoptive parents. Based on the adoptive parent interviews, it introduces their experience with the process of child adoption and explains the shortcomings which they encountered in the process. The results of the research imply that the average waiting period for a child is 25 months in the Czech Republic. One of the largest downsides for adoptive parents is that each Czech region acts on its own and a centralized adoption system is non-existent in our country. Keywords substitute family care, adoption, adoptee, adopter, foster care, biological parent
Temporary Foster Care
KUČEROVÁ, Petra
The topic of this bachelor thesis is temporary foster care. The piece is divided into the theoretical and practical part; the theoretical part deals with the definition of terms in temporary foster care, adaptation of the child in the family, the role of a social worker, contact between the child and the parent and the issue of attachment. The aim of the work is to explore how foster parents cope with handing over the child and to bring into focus the formal flaws viewed by the foster parents. The thesis will also investigate whether there is contact between the foster parents and the child after handing the child over. The thesis establishes two research questions connected with the previously stated aim: 1. Which procedures help the foster parent cope with the separation from the child? 2. Are there challenges in temporary foster care that significantly influence the occupation of the foster parent? The practical part uses qualitative research strategy, the method of questioning and the technique of semi-structured interview. Statements of four communication partners were used for the purpose of collection of the data. The results were formed by the method of clustering. There were specific procedures discovered from the collected data, that help the foster parents cope with the leaving of the child. There is also a description of formal flaws that cause difficulties in the foster parents' occupations. The results of the work may serve as a basis for further research, as a compilation for comparison with recent researches, or as a supporting material during the teaching of similar subjects since there was a thorough examination carried out in the lives of the foster families. The contribution of the work may be the close view into the work of long-term foster parents and the determination of formal flaws that make the everyday reality in foster care difficult.
Demands and needs of persons performing foster care
KALBÁČOVÁ, Marie
The presented thesis focuses on demands and needs of persons participating in foster care. It is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the introduction of the theoretical part, the historical importance of a family having its positive influence on child´s development is explained. The thesis draws attention to protection of rights of children both in international and national documents. Legal regulations relating to substitute family care in the Czech Republic, having foster care in focus, are explained. The following part maps needs of children committed to foster care and needs of foster parents in connection with managing challenging situations they go through with such children. The last part summarizes rights and obligations of foster parents, the importance of accompanying services for foster families, and creates a comprehensive overview regarding possibilities of using social benefits for material security of a child and a foster parent. The practical part identifies differences in foster care performed by a person registered and a person caring. Its aim is to map the most common educational needs for persons registered and persons caring, to evaluate the importance of the assisting organization being attributed by persons registered and persons caring, and to ascertain material requirements of persons registered and persons caring. The output is to identify legislative deficiencies relating to drawing on material and financial securities. Three research questions have been set within the thesis, which comply with thesis targets. Qualitative research was applied. Semi-structured interviews with twelve communication partners were used as data collection basis. The results were processed by a specific qualitative method. Six clusters were made based on received data, which were evaluated as common and referenced in interviews with more communication partners. The research ascertained differences in needs important for a registered foster parent and a caring foster parent. The persons registered, like a crisis institute, must react quickly on child´s demands during his/her adopting. These foster parents place higher demand on education and an assisting organization. Their connection to a key person in the organization is much stronger. Persons caring vary their needs relating to obligatory education and an assisting organization depending on personal experience with raising children and their actual problems. A difference in the way and contents of education was also identified. Differences in financial security of persons registered and persons caring were detected including legislative barriers that prevent especially persons caring from drawing on legal claims. The thesis outputs may by applied as a basis for further research work in this area. The thesis may be used as a supporting material for assisting organizations.
