Jašek, Petr ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Žákovská, Karolina (referee)
Protection of owl species living on the territory of the Czech Republic in international, EU and national European law Abstract There are ten species of owls in the territory of the Czech Republic. The once widespread order of carnivorous birds has faced unprecedented pressures as result of landscape change and civilizational demands in recent decades, as a result of which their European populations are shrinking. For these reasons, a need has risen to protect owls at the level of individual national legal systems, at the level of EU legislation and in the sphere of international conventions. In the first part of this thesis, the biological specifications of owls as well as their ecological and agricultural importance are explained. The thesis also follows the legal mechanisms, the overall level of legal protection of owls and the application of standards for the protection of owls in international law, European Union law and nationals' law, all of which is reserved for the second part of the thesis. The international legal protection of owls is emphasized due to the large fluctuation of bird species across countries and continents. On the other hand, the law of the European Union, on the other hand, brings an unprecedentedly successful model of unification of national legal systems in the joint regulation...
Protection of large carnivorans in the EU legislation and national legislations of Europe
Djemel, Klára ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee)
Protection of large carnivorans in the EU legislation and national legislations of Europe Abstract Large carnivorans, including the brown bear (Ursus arctos), the lynx (Lynx lynx) and the wolf (Canis lupus), have become nearly extinct in Central Europe in the past and have only returned to our wilderness in recent decades. The return of large carnivorans is therefore responded to by the legal systems of the countries concerned, as well as public international law and European Union law. The reasons for the special protection and legal regime of large carnivorans stem mainly from their biological differences, way of life, potential conflict with humans and higher levels of endangerment. The aim of this work is to conduct a thorough analysis of the legal protection of large carnivorans on an international, European and national scale. The protection of large carnivorans cannot be effectively addressed within the territory of a single European state, as carnivorans, especially in Central Europe, normally cross national borders. Great attention is therefore paid to EU law, which provides the basis for the legal protection of large carnivorans in most European countries. From the national legal systems of Europe, the legal systems of the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany...

The regulation of biodiversity protection within the agriculture
Bašný, Vojtěch ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Damohorský, Milan (referee)
1 Abstract The Legal regulation of biodiversity protection within the agriculture Vojtěch Bašný, supervisor: doc. JUDr. Vojtěch Stejskal, Ph.D. Charles University, Faculty of Law, Department of Environemntal Law Prague, August 2013 The agriculture is one of the main causes of the damage of the biodiversity. The continuous biodiversity damage leads to the loss of the ecosystem services and to decrease in numbers of species and habitats of high nature value. This could in the extreme case lead to the danger to the mankind because biodiversity provides the nutrition, water, clean air, and helps in a fight against illnesses and pests and contributes to the regulation of the climate. The aim of my thesis is to analyse the legal regulation of the biodiversity protection within the agriculture and evaluates the accuracy of specific approaches and offers the solutions of certain deficiencies. The thesis gives an overview of different aspects of the legal regulation of the relationship between biodiversity and agriculture on the level of international, EU, and Czech legislation. Key word: Legal regulation, Biodiversity, Agriculture

Comparison of the flora of recultivated and succession influenced areas at sandpits in Třeboňsko Protected landscape area
RADOŠOVÁ, Tereza
The goal of this thesis is to compare flora on recultivated and succession-influenced areas in sandpits of Třeboňsko Protected landscape area in Southern Bohemia. This area is situated in Southern Bohemia region. The mapped sandpits are located in floodplain of the Lužnice river between towns České Velenice and Veselí nad Lužnicí. The mining of gravelous sand was started in about 1949 and in some places continues till these days. The character and structure of the landscape are seriously harmed by any types of mining process. Therefore there are implemented some arrangements which lead to renewal of the landscape. The aim of this work is to intercept the actual composition of the vegetation on the selected landscape areas and compare how these two ways of landscape renewal take affect to the nature variety.
