The view of specialised literature on barefoot running and running in traditional shoes (comparative literature review)
Holečková, Klára ; Kaplan, Aleš (advisor) ; Vindušková, Jitka (referee)
Title: The view of specialised literature on barefoot running and running in traditional shoes (comparative literature review) Objectives: The main objective of the presented thesis was to find, read and categorise available Czech and especially foreign literature about the barefoot running topic. Other objective was to create a systematic comparative review of reclaimed information, in which the opinions of authors are compared. Due to formulated objectives, the following task of the thesis was defined. To offer readers a systematic review and describe the presented topic. Methods: The presented bachelor thesis is a comparative literature review, especially foreign- language literature. The keywords were first stated in the English language. After that, they were used for searching for information in science databases. Similarly, the keywords were stated and used for searching information in the Czech language. Due to the systematisation of the terms, it was necessary to gain enough information about the presented topic, which were categorised in the pre-determined chapters. Results: The presented literature review was created from 29 foreign science studies and 11 book publications (5 of them were Czech authors). Some of the authors' opinions on the studied issue were in agreement. For example,...
The influence of barefoot running on running kinetics
Bezemek, Denis ; Lopot, František (advisor) ; Vondrášek, David (referee)
Title: The influence of barefoot running on running kinetics. Objectives: The aim of this work is to assess the influence of different footwear (regular running shoes, barefoot footwear and barefoot running) on footstrike (rear-foot strike, mid-foot strike and fore-foot strike) during running and evaluate the action of reaction forces in different types of footstrike. Methods: In this study participated 11 runners (only men), who were divided in three groups based on their preferred footwear. Kinetic data (reaction forces) were collected by using a Kistler force plate, which was crossed by the participants with subjectively chosen speed. Kinematic parameters of running (speed) and video recordings of a single footstrikes were obtained by using a Qualisys system of optoelectronic stereophotogrammetry. All the measurements occurred during one day. Collected data were exported to Microsoft Excel 2013 programme, where the graphs of reaction forces were created and to Qualisys Track Manager software. Assessment was based on created graphs and video recordings. Results: The results show that runners wearing regular running shoes preferred a rear- foot strike, while among runners in barefoot footwear a fore-foot strike than mid-foot strike prevailed a bit. Among barefoot runners dominated a fore-foot...
The Influence of Footwear on Running Style and Injuries
Kolovecká, Michaela ; Hora, Martin (advisor) ; Soumar, Libor (referee)
In recent years running has become a very popular sport. Therefore it is nowadays often discussed whether it is shod running or barefoot running that is better. The aim of this thesis is to provide a summary of scientific pieces of knowledge on the effect of footwear on running style and related injuries. The introduction chapter describes the basics of running techniques and progressive development of running styles in relation to the development of running footwear. The following chapters describe in detail results of studies about the impact of footwear on kinematics, foot strike pattern and ground reaction forces, muscular activity and the running economy. Other chapters deal with the influence of footwear as a source of running related injuries while the most common running injuries are subsequently analysed. The last part is a practical section. It is a questionnaire study in which in total 93 runners participated. The conclusion summarizes the essential pieces of knowledge on the topic of footwear influence on running style and related injuries which are compared with the results collected in the questionnaire.
