Free Licenses & Creative Commons: A Powerful Tool for Open Access Publishing in Grey Literature
Pejšová, Petra ; Vaska, Marcus
In today’s increasingly technologically savvy information society, “using remote access and free content to open doors for science students”, a statement made by NANSLO Lab director Daniel Branan (http://www.scoop.it/t/ava-openeducation), is yet another example of ongoing efforts to make information more openly and freely available and accessible. Although Branan focused his remarks on the scientific community, this applies to more than one specific subject field. Rather, scientists, teachers, artists, sociologists, programmers, as well as professionals from the arts industry and economics are increasingly becoming involved in sharing and reusing their work. Open content provides an opportunity to shorten the time for research to become available, not repeat research already conducted, have data to compare, collect backround information for a project, and numerous other possibilities. Despite the well-intentioned mandate of a Creative Commons license, the free distribution of an author’s work is still “governed by applicable copyright law.” (Wikipedia, n.d.) Jack Andraka, an advocate for the Open Access Movement, laments the disappointment that can occur due to publication and distribution restrictions: “I’ve seen so many great ideas get killed in the lab when my peers are stopped by closed access [to research articles]” (http://teamopen.cc/jack/). Open licencing is a strong instrument ensuring open access to research data.

Influence of technologies on the music industry in terms of music distribution
Labská, Julie ; Sigmund, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šťástka, Vladimír (referee)
Diploma thesis deals with the influence of technologies on the music industry in terms of music distribution. In the first part the two major issues are discussed for deeper understanding of the topic. The change of perception and creation of music over certain period of time and the development of technologies related to music in historical context. Following chapters are mainly focused on current technologies, digitalization and the internet, and global turnovers which have had impact on distribution of music as a consequence of technological spread. In addition to this, the issue of legal aspects related to sharing and downloading music via internet is described. The strategies have been created and adopted by the music industry representatives as a response to the situation of increasing intensity of infringing copyright law by unauthorized sharing and decreasing number of physical media sales. The goal of these strategies has been aimed at support expansion of online music services and raising of public copyright awareness. The work analyses and assesses above mentioned strategies and estimates the possible future development of music industry. Assumptions are created on the basis of historical background and current situation. The partial objective is to evaluate whether the sales of physical media have future as a main source of income for music industry or not.

Protection of personal rights in theatre practice
Topinka, Jan ; SRSTKA, Jiří (advisor) ; CHLOUPEK, Vojtěch (referee)
In this thesis I have described historical development of the right to the protection of personal rights from their establishment up to the present legal regulations. I paid great attention to description of particular elements of the personal rights both in the area of general rights and special ones. Those elements of personal rights are the ones I often encounter in the frame of artistic production. I tried to interpret basic principles and rules related to the elements of personal rights. Today, we can see many cases in public life directly affected by these issues, so I consider this topic to be a very hot issue. This thesis aims at making this area of legal aspects related to conducting theatre activities more transparent to a wider population of theatre managers.
