Generation of Skin Disease into the Synthetic Fingerprints
Bárta, Milan ; Kanich, Ondřej (referee) ; Drahanský, Martin (advisor)
The thesis deals with design and implementation of a tool for simulating marks of chosen skin diseases into a synthetic fingerprint. The diseases selected to work with are warts and atopic eczema. The marks of diseases are generated into a synthetic fingerprint image created by the SFinGe application. Existing disesase-affected fingerprints from the STRaDe database are analysed in detail. Then, methods for simulating the diseases into a synthetic fingerprint are proposed, implemented, and the results are evaluated.
The Topical Steroid Withdrawal and the Dependence Syndrome: Questionnaire Survey and Case Studies
Krotilová, Zuzana ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor) ; Reichelová, Lenka (referee)
Background: The topical steroid withdrawal (syndrome) or red skin syndrome is a possible topical steroid treatment complication. The bachelor's thesis looks up into patients on topical steroid dependency criteria by particularly atopic dermatitis patients treated with topical steroids. It also deals with the topical steroid withdrawal itself. Aims: The main aim is to get to know whether some difficulties and manifestations of the long-term-topical-steroid treated patients can be defined similarly like the dependency syndrome. Methods: The first method used for the research was quantitative, i.e. an anonymous online questionnaire survey among the trait carriers which included ten DSM-5 dependency criteria questions. In the research sample, there were approximately 900 potencial participants (members of a Facebook group that gathers Czech and Slovak people with RSS). 105 respondents participated. The second method was qualitative - 3 case studies (2 women, 1 man, trait carriers and the sampling was random) of participants whom the medical history were taken from and semi- structured interview were recorded. The interview consisted of some areas of interest and MKN-10 (ICD-10) dependency criteria questions. Results: The degree of fulfillment of the dependency criteria for the online questionnaire...
Study of the regulatory properties of oncogenic microRNAs under normal and pathologically altered conditions in order to detect new tumors.
Dusílková, Nina Borisovna ; Stopka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Machová Poláková, Kateřina (referee) ; Rohoň, Peter (referee)
Oncogenic microRNAs (miRNAs) are small RNA molecules that inhibit post-translational regulatory mechanisms at the epigenetic level. miRNAs are often deregulated in malignancies and due to their stability are detectable in non-cellular fractions of peripheral blood. In our laboratory, we have performed several studies that have investigated and utilized miRNAs as biomarkers for various hematological tumors (e.g., chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Hodgkin`s lymphoma) and solid tumors (e.g., breast cancer). The aim of these studies was to find the association of miRNAs with pathophysiological and clinical aspects of each disease. Here, we confirmed the importance of particular miRNA or its complex during disease monitoring. Combining clinical, molecular biological and statistical analyses, we were able to find miRNA sets that fulfilled not only a diagnostic role but also a prognostic role beyond expectations. The main focus of this thesis is on the investigation of microRNAs in the diagnosis of a hematological malignancy - primary cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). Tumor specificity of some miRNAs has been demonstrated. Their aberrant expression in tissue samples of CTCL patients obtained from skin biopsies, correctly distinguished malignant disease from control samples of benign skin lesions. Here, we...
Issues relating to nutrition in patients with atopic dermatitis
Krejčí, Lenka ; Humlová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Meisnerová, Eva (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with issues relating to nutrition in patients with atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is a non-infectious chronic inflammatory skin disease. Its prevalence is still increasing and it can significantly affect the quality of life of patients as well as their families. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with etiology and pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis, its prevention, risk factors for its development and dietary recommendations for patients with atopic dermatitis. Other chapters of the theoretical part deal with methods of diagnosis of atopic dermatitis, epidemiology and prevalence of the disease, potential complications that can arise from atopic dermatitis, treatment principles of atopic dermatitis and principles of skin care. The main aim of the practical part is to check whether the diet of adult respondents, who are suffering from atopic dermatitis, affects clinical manifestation of atopic dermatitis and find out the proof of it. Another aim is to find out whether the extent of affected skin area is related to perception of limitations in activities of daily living caused by atopic dermatitis. The data was obtained through the questionnaire survey among patients attending the Department of Clinical...
Potential role of skin microbiota in the pathogenesis of dermatological diseases
Mihula, Martin ; Jirásková Zákostelská, Zuzana (advisor) ; Grobárová, Valéria (referee)
The surface of the human body is colonized by a large number of microorganisms whose composition depends not only on external and internal factors, but is also significantly influenced by the topography of human skin. The complex skin microbiota is an essential part of physiological and protective mechanisms of the skin. The change in the dynamics of microbial communities on the skin or in the gastrointestinal tract is currently considered to be part of triggering mechanisms of many skin diseases. Some of the skin inflammatory diseases are directly associated with a shift of skin microbiota composition - for instance atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris or psoriasis. Gaining and perceiving knowledge about interspecies interactions and their effect on a host could lead to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches which could make the prevention or treatment of some skin disorders more effective. Key words: skin, skin diseases, skin microbiota, immunity, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo
Pathogenesis of eczema vaccinatum
Elsterová, Jana ; Mělková, Zora (advisor) ; Forstová, Jitka (referee)
Vaccinia virus (VACV) is primarily known as a vaccine against its relative variola virus, the causative agent of smallpox. In the seventies of the 20th century, the vaccination campaign with VACV led to eradication of smallpox. Consequently, vaccination of the general population was stopped. Currently, the vaccination was reintroduced, namely among army and healthcare professionals. However, vaccination with VACV is accompanied with a high incidence of vaccination-related complications, namely among immunocompromised individuals. One of the complications is eczema vaccinatum, occuring in patients with atopic dermatitis. The laboratory of Dr. Melkova has focused on development of a model of eczema vaccinatum in mice Nc/Nga and on studies of pathogenesis of this complication. The goal of my diploma thesis is to contribute to characterization of imunopathogenesis of eczema vaccinatum in mice Nc/Nga infected either with VACV strain Western Reserve (WR) or with a recombinant VACV with the integrated cDNA for IRF-3 (Interferon Regulatory Factor 3; WR-IRF3). IRF-3 regulates the expression of interferon type I in response to viral infection. This recombinant virus has been constructed in the laboratory of Dr. Melková. The objective of my work was to verify the expression of the integrated cDNA for IRF-3 and to...

Allergic child in Kindergarten. Atopic dermatitis
KANDĚROVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor's work is focused on allergic diseases among children at the preschool age, especially on the atopic dermatitis. In the theoretical part I describe the issues of allergies, their sorting, therapy, one of the most common allergic diseases called atopic dermatitis in detail and psychological view of the socialization of children who are in terms of health disadvantaged. In the practical part of this work I focused on observing of the child with atopic dermatitis from my (preschool teacher's) point of view. In this part there are also interviews with the parents of the child, with the chief of the school canteen and with the preschool teachers, who were already confronted with a child that has atopic dermatitis.
The Non-Compliance Phenomenon and the Diagnosis of L2x: Atopic Dermatitis

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the prevalence of the phenomenon of non-compliance patiens with a diagnosis of atopic dermatitis using the questionnaire survey in two selected dermatology clinics in Prague. The result obtained were tested using standard statistics methods. The results suggest the non-compliance depends mainly on attitude of physisians.
Education of a patient with Atopic Dermatitis
ČERVENÁ, Jana
The topic of this bachelor´s work is {\clqq}Education of a patient with atopic dermatitis``, and deals with education of patients performed by nurses working at outpatient departments of dermatology. There were objectives and hypotheses determined for the work and then verified with the help of a quality research. As an instrument of the research a questionnaire was used for the patients visiting outpatient departments of dermatology in Vysočina and Středočeský regions. Another instrument of the research used here was a structured interview with nurses as a group of research working at outpatient departments of dermatology in Vysočina and Středočeský regions. The objective of the research was to determine if the patients with atopic dermatitis are satisfied with education of nurses, and to find out the forms of education of the patients with atopic dermatitis. After handing out the questionnaires, information was processed and consequently hypotheses either confirmed or disconfirmed The research showed that the patients are satisfied with nurses education concerning atopic dermatitis. The first hypothesis was verified by the research. We found out that nurses educate the patients in atopic dermatitis in the form of information leaflets. The second hypothesis was verified as well. The research confirmed that the patients search for information about atopic dermatitis in a very active way, which, at the same time, verified the hypothesis number three. This disorder belongs to demanding life situations both emotionally and mentally. A nurse task here is to offer her empathetic and holistic approach and participate in health improvement of the patient. In the course of education, a nurse completes and affects the knowledge, abilities, approach and behaviour of the patient to encourage his own effort and help him this way to improve his health condition.
