Language and style of Czech translations of Émile Zola's novels

The aim of this bachelor thesis is the comparative analysis of the Czech translations of Émile Zola's novels. The first chapter presents naturalism as the literary movement and treats his major figures. The second chapter contains theoretical basis which deals with process of translation putting emphasis on Czech and Slovak translation theories. The third chapter is focused on the analysis of the Czech translations and tries to define critically the translation solutions used by Czech translators. By way of conclusion, this thesis seeks to summerize the results of the analysis and offers their critical evaluation.
TV-debate - argumentation and persuasion: Václav Moravec questioning's case study

The diploma thesis presents own research method for examination of speech formations. It focuses on examination of televised political debates. The method applied here may be characterized as an organized hermeneutic analysis of political discourse. Through the application of an analytical - philosophical approach (e.g. application of the theory of maxima, illocutionary acts evaluation, and analysis of arguments and verification of their truthfulness), the method allows us to establish objective facts of the debate as well as some personal features of debate participants. To examine texts, the theoretical knowledge of distinguished authors (J. J. Austin, K. Bayer, T. A. van Dijk, N. Fairclough, H. P. Grice, J. Habermas, J. Kraus, G. N. Leeche, J. R. Searl, and others) have been made use of. In addition to the literary survey, the thesis also includes the argumentation in respect of selection of the method, selection of talk shows, transcript of debates from TV records, transformation of the text into an analysable form, and research methodology. Thesis: The TV series Black Mirror as a substantial creation of British TV production Abstract: ENG The thesis deals with the analysis of the British TV anthology Black Mirror. It examines the program in terms of authorship, processing method, theme, genre, and impact on society. The aim is to determine the basic characteristics of the Black Mirror and to point out its uniqueness in the context of current trends in television content. In individual chapters, it focuses on the role of authorship, the definition of the genre and the definition of the main topic. The program is also subjected to a narrative and stylistic analysis that examines the way the story is constructed, the narrative structure, the work with the characters, the environment and the style. Furthermore this thesis also want to examine the the extent to which the topics of Black Mirror correspond to reality. The result of this research offers a complex picture of Black Mirror, including a comparison with selected British television programs.
