The temporolimbic dysfunction in alcohol dependent persons

Title of Thesis: The temporo-limbic dysfunction in alcohol dependent persons This thesis is concerned on the temporo-limbic dysfunction of persons dependent on alcohol. The theoretical part summarizes the information about the neuroanatomical correlates, alcohol dependence syndrome, epidemiology of alcohol addiction in the Czech republic and the relationship between alcohol and epilepsy. The practical part includes evaluation of questionnaires filled out by alcohol dependent persons. These questionnaires are concerned on recognizing epilepsy spectrum disorder. The results are compared with the results obtained from previous studies in the healthy population and are used to evaluate other aims of this thesis. The submitted diploma thesis is called: Rehabilitation of a family endangered by transgenerational transmission of alcohol addiction. Alcohol addiction in the family is a very current topic, as it can have a significant impact on future generations of children who grew up with an alcohol addicted parent. The theoretical part deals with the issue of alcohol addiction and its impact on family functioning, psychological and social development of children and their functioning in adulthood. It also examines the causes and manifestations of transgenerational transmission of alcohol addiction in the family, including how to prevent the risk of alcohol addiction in future generations. The aim of the empirical part is to answer the main research question through interviews: What is the personal experience of the current generation of offspring of alcohol addicted parents in creating their own family and how can the family prevent the risk of transgenerational transmission of alcohol addiction to the next generation of offspring? From the research survey, we found that children who grew up in an alcoholic environment are affected to various degrees in adult life in all areas, because they have not experienced healthy parenting patterns in the family. Background: Alcohol use disorders belong among the ten leading causes of Years Lost due to Disability in high-income countries. Poland, Czech Republic, and the Slovak Republic are countries with high alcohol consumption. The specific inpatient psychotherapeutic program is basic treatment approach in patients suffering from alcohol dependency. The theory of change assumes that therapeutic approaches should be adapted to the stage of change in which the patient actually is. Aim: To examine the state of readiness to change at the beginning and the end of inpatient short (six weeks) and long (12 weeks) therapeutic program in Slovak Republic, Poland, and the Czech Republic. To compare readiness to change with insight and motivation. To find, whether patients change and how patients change advances in alcohol treatment. Methods: Total 380 alcohol dependent inpatients (282 men and 98 women) were examined using International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems- 10th Revision (ICD- 10), World Health Organization (1992). Smoking cessation among patients in residential treatment for alcohol dependence

Background: In the Czech Republic, alcohol and tobacco are the most widely used addictive substances. Although use of these substances is legal for those 18 years or older, they can lead to serious health consequences. Especially among alcohol (or other drugs) dependent persons in recovery, the prevalence of regular smoking compared to the general population is much higher. Nevertheless, in these settings within the Czech Republic, tobacco smoking is often overlooked and for the staff there is no standard approach for introducing the systematic programs for quitting smoking. It is often based on theory that these patients have no motivation or interest in professional assistance with quitting smoking. Objective: The primary objective of the research was to assess the motivation of patients dependent on alcohol and tobacco, currently undergoing the residential medium-term treatment to quit smoking. A secondary objective was to highlight the issue of smoking among these patients and find out what their view is on the possibilities of tobacco dependence treatment in the setting and whether they would be interested in professional assistance with quitting smoking. Influence of alcohol on road traffic accident rate in the South Bohemian Region by comparison of the years 2008 - 2012

The diploma thesis Influence of alcohol on road traffic accident rate in the South Bohemian Region by comparison of the years 2008 2012 is aimed at comparing the influence of alcohol on road traffic accidents in the districts of the South Bohemian Region in the period 2008 2012 as well as outlining the effects of road traffic accidents due to alcohol with regard to partial circumstances of particular accidents (according to accident type, accident effects, age of the perpetrators of accidents) in the years 2008 2012. The comparison was based on police statistics of road traffic accident rates of the Regional Police Headquarters for the South Bohemian Region, the Road Traffic Inspectorate in České Budějovice. The thesis attempted to perform a survey of the problems related to accidents caused by driving under the influence of alcohol. The theoretical part deals with two spheres connected with alcohol-related road traffic accidents. The practical part focuses on the effects of the accidents which happened in the South Bohemian Region in the years 2008 2012, and on the effects of accidents caused due to alcohol in the South Bohemian Region in the years 2008 2012.
