Topological optimization in technical practice
Mazoch, Jan ; Maxa, Jiří (referee) ; Vyroubal, Petr (advisor)
Master’s thesis deals with an issue of 3D printing and of using a topological optimization for editing a shape of a 3D printed product. First part of this thesis provides a general description of a subtractive manufacturing technology, specifically its use in CNC milling machines, and of an additive manufacturing technology which is used in 3D printing. Second part of this thesis describes the topological optimization per se and specific methods which are used in the topological optimization. In the third and the fourth part of this thesis, topological optimization modules of software Ansys and SolidWorks are described. In the fifth part of this thesis, the topological optimization capabilities for 3D printed product on a specific embodiments of a design lightning and a cross-beam are demonstrated.
Application of Modern Technologies to Production of Prototype Form
Pospíšil, Josef ; Zemčík, Oskar (referee) ; Sedlák, Josef (advisor)
This Diploma Thesis deals with modern technologies such as 3D scanning, rapid prototyping and vacuum casting to production of prototype form. It considers advantages and disadvantages of the modern technologies compared to traditional process of manufacturing prototype form and economical contribution using the modern technologies. Part of the thesis considers a choice of suitable manufacturing technology of a particular product.

Design study of the heat switch base plate with single and multi-material topology optimization
Löffelmann, František ; Šplíchal, Jan
A miniaturized heat switch is a device under the development dedicated to control automatic cooling of a space instrument box. The design study presented in this paper focuses on a stiffness issue of the switch base plate which should assure good thermal contact with the instrument box. Due to inner deformations of the switch, base plate deforms which might decrease contact area needed to the heat transfer. Thus several design concepts of the copper base plate were investigated and multi-material additive manufacturing was reviewed. One approach was to decrease deformations of existing geometry by multi-material design by local exchange of copper with steel, first by engineering intuition, then by the stiffness based topology optimization, and finally with the layer-wise topology optimization better respecting manufacturing possibilities. Another approach was to change the geometry and use the topology optimization constrained with a flatness of the base plate but with single material. Finally, deformation changes of all the variants were compared.
