Růžičková, Elena
Růžičková, E. The influence of monetary policy on firm investment activity in countries of V4. Diploma thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2019. The aim of this thesis is to determine the influence of monetary policy on firm investment activity in the automotive industry in countries of V4, together with the further verification of the influence of other company-specific characteristics. The analysis uses the panel data of microeconomic character, which was drawn from the Amadeus database in the period from 2006 to 2015. As an independent variable representing the influence of monetary policy, a 12-month interest rate PRIBOR, BRIBOR, EURIBOR, BUBOR and WIBOR, representing each of states, was chosen. Other independent variables were selected as company-specific characteristics. Net fixed assets have been chosen as a dependent variable, which can be used to express investment in fixed assets. The models for selected countries will verify the influence of monetary policy on the development of investment activity in the selected industry.

Electoral volatility in European Parliament Elections in V4 Countries: 2004-2019
Mertlík, Arnošt ; Linek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Dvořák, Tomáš (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on changes in voting behaviour among voters in the Visegrad Group states (V4), specifically electoral volatility between the European Parliament elections and the national elections in the particular state. The approach to examining electoral volatility in this work is based on the second-order national elections theory, which divides elections into less and more important ones. The aim of the work is first to describe the overall electoral volatility in the V4 states in a cross-section of all European elections based on individual data from post-election questionnaire surveys. Subsequently, I find out what are the specific causes and motivations for changes in electoral behaviour. The analysis shows that there are several different patterns of volatile behaviour in the V4 countries, but the consistent and general pattern is a high degree of electoral demobilisation in the European elections. This may be due to political attitudes or the level of trust in the European institutions. I then analyze voters' demobilization among government and opposition voters, who differ mainly in their views of the national political situation. Keywords Electoral volatility, vote switching, electoral behaviour, second-order national election theory, European Parliament elections,...
The Importance of two German-Czech European Battlegroups with regard to German-Czech Relations
Žemla, Daniel ; Handl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Lizcová, Zuzana (referee)
The goal of this Bachelor thesis was to examine the importance of two German- Czech European Battlegroups with regard to German-Czech security relations. This thesis is concerned with the mutual security cooperation of both countries since 1990. It reveals a dynamic development in the bilateral relationships, especially a conciliation with the past, which has been a precondition for later successful cooperation. Differing historical experience projected into an attitude of both states towards their armed forces, which is noticeable until the present day. The thesis further analyzes the German role during the NATO enlargement in 1999 and discusses the military cooperation of the Czech Republic with the Federal Republic of Germany both in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union. The main emphasis is placed on the concept of European Battlegroups and its practical realisation in four particular examples: Czech-Slovak (2-2009), the first German-Czech (2-2012), the first Visegrad (1-2016) and the second German-Czech (2-2016) European Battlegroups. The thesis does not marginalize current developments and therefore in its conclusion focuses on the planned creation of the second Visegrad (2-2019) and the third German-Czech Battlegroups (2-2020). The data mainly comes from numerous...
Virtual National Phonoteque - increasing cooperation
Malinová, Iva ; Horová, Iva
Last year, the National Library of Technology of the Czech Republic became the new administrator of the Virtual National Phonoteque (VNP). This unique database is the aggregator of audio documents stored in Czech institutions. The portal collects metadata across different types of institutions: libraries, archives, museums, commercial publishers, Czech Radio, Czech Television and even private collectors, making them all accessible in one location. Visitors to the portal can use it to locate metadata records for the item of interest, thereafter finding themselves with several options: to visit the owner of the audio to listen to it there or borrow it, to buy it in the publisher’s e-shop, or to view and listen digitised version directly. The portal currently contains about one and a half million metadata records and pools data from 24 suppliers. Thanks to our established collaborations we are now undertaking more projects and working towards taking the next steps. In cooperation with Supraphon we have made a new service for NLT visitors, who have exclusive direct access to the Supraphon Digital Archive, allowing them to listen music via headphones and on mobile devices from within our library. Our immediate targets for next two years are to involve and cooperate with more suppliers to enrich the VNP´s content, and to develop a new version of the portal to meet all the criteria of a modern, secure database. Given our common history, we are open to collaboration with slovak libraries and other institutions, with regards to sound recordings.

A Tale of Two Europes. How the refugee crisis reopened the dichotomies of "East" vs. "West".
Wielander, Anna ; Vykoukal, Jiří (advisor) ; Klípa, Ondřej (referee)
The conflict over the right way to tackle the so-called refugee crisis in Europe has proved that relations between the EU and the Visegrád Group have changed. The political dispute surfaced most clearly regarding the different proposals for a quota-based refugee relocation system - a decision which was refused by the V4. The bloc consisting of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia first articulated its common position on migration in September 2015 and several times afterwards. On the basis of these statements, one can summarise their approach as follows: (1) Protecting the external borders of the EU and underlining the importance of fulfilling the obligations for the EU acquis; (2) Effective management of the root causes of migration flows, which could help reduce the number of migrants; (3) Refusing Germany's open-door migration policy. Although an increasing number of EU member states share a similar approach, the V4 as the whole started to be perceived as a coalition known for obstructing practices. The split on the issue gave life to a new wave of speculation about the increasing split between "old" and "new" Europe and the possible shift of the later eastwards. Furious politicians and public opinion in Western Europe continued to remind the Visegrád countries of their lack of...
